Cloakcovens: A Fortress of Cloth
« on: May 22, 2019, 06:58:08 pm »

Welcome to Romlamzocol, Cloakcovens.

A fortress dedicated to providing to our civilization clothing made from fine cloth, wool, and eventually even silk and leather.

This will be my first community fortress so please be patient with me  :)
You may ask to be dorfed with certain conditions and I will try my best to get on these as soon as possible

And so this world came into existence.

A beautiful place with its lush forests and towering mountains. But this place as a terrible secret. All around there are terrible beasts slithering across the surface, and even more stalking the caverns.

Our civilization has just been born 5 years prior to this moment. Our king has sent us seven to this place so that we may supply the mountainhome with clothing for our brothers and sisters.

The journey is dangerous so we must take stock of what we have.

We have our expedition leader: Tosid Imushrag
Our Speardwarf: Kikrost Naniroslan

And five peasants:
Urdim Togumushat
Urdim Zanegvush
Urvad Dorenurrith
Inod Erithuthmik
Dobar Likotavuz

We brought along some picks, axes, food and drink. Standard fortress starter kit.
Also we have some sheep and pig tail seeds for material.
A spear and shield for Kikrost, both bronze.

Now then, onward to Cloakcovens!

BTW how do I post images?

Report: 1st of Slate

So far we have set off to work digging down into the mountainside we stopped upon.

We had to dig almost 10z's downwards before coming upon stone. Plenty of dirt, clay, and sand to grow our pigtails in.
Tetrahedrite was found almost instantly after hitting stone. Glad I brought some coal to smelt it until we find some lava.
Currently bedrooms are being dug out by those peasants we brought along. I suspect we may need to put our farms on hold until we can get some migrants to help farm the land.
Trees and shrubbery are plentiful on the surface so we are hopefully good for food and drink for a while.
I will update soon enough if anything interesting happens.

To post images, upload them to a image hosting site then copy and paste the link it gives you here.

And thus was the dwarven meatshield invented.
the child should serve well in the infantry (that is a horrible pun, and I already regret saying it).

Ah. Summer is upon us.

Things have been moving quickly here in Cloakcovens. Now that we have settled down somewhat, let us look over what we have in the fort.

Here are the dwarves we have with us.

This is the world we are living in.

And this is our embark.

The fort so far is looking good. No giant beasts and the most dangerous creatures around are water-bound.
We have a few bedrooms that are pretty rough but will do for now.

After we get our first migrant wave I will get to work on making clothes.

EDIT: Thank you to DwarvenLord for helping me setup my pictures properly

S it shows up on the forum, use this website: https://imgbb.com/
Then do bbccode fully linked. It'll give you a code that'll work on the forum.

Thanks a lot for helping me with these pictures!  ;)

You wouldn't also happen to know how I can set up an avatar too would you?
I keep trying but after I save changes it goes back to "No Avatar" instead of "Specify by URL"
