3) Ignore his question and ask where you are.
"Uh . . . where am I?"

"You--you don't know where you are?" The young wizard takes a moment to shake his head, obviously thinking you a fool before answering. "This is Tower Whitehall", he sighs. "The nearest Union is the the Knightly Federation, but I am an Unstated Wizard. I offer fealty to no border." After seeing the confusion on your face growing, he sighs again. "Do you . . . understand anything occurring here at all? Are you not a wizard?"

1) Ask him what he means by unions, federations and fealty. Even though you're in an obviously-medieval world, such systems of government shouldn't be common.
2) Answer him with a 'no'. You have no idea what's going on.
3) Be honest. Perhaps the spell you botched has something to do with it. Maybe.
4) Say something else.

"Well . . . not exactly. I mean, I am interested in wizardry, but I just started this weekend."

"Ah", is all he says in response.

"To be honest, I was in the middle of a spelling when I got sucked here. I, er, might've botched it."

That's when his eyes widen and he stands up straight as the tower you're both in. "Aha! I knew it! I knew I felt a disturbance in the magic! Your spell interfered with my mine, causing me to 'botch' my spell also."

A pang of guilt shoots through you as quickly as it leaves. He doesn't seem to be in worse condition, only slightly irritated. Exactly just how much did you inconvenience him? "Sorry."

"Quite so. You are sorry indeed. What were you hoping to accomplish with your spelling anyway? Which spell did you attempt?" He folds his arms. "You also have yet to identify yourself. You dress rather strangely, and you're also a child. You must come from a faraway Tower or State."

1) Well, he's still a kid and, therefore, you still don't have to tell him a damned thing.
2) He's likely a better wizard than you. Best tell him who you are to avoid being vaporized into wizard dust.
3) You get what Towers are, but what's this about States and Federations?
4) Ask him what kind of wizard he is.
5) Point out that he's a child too!
6) Say/do something else.
