Yara turns off to follow Burt, who is pursued by one magbike, the machine gun, two trucks, and two ATVs. Between the engines and the guns, none of them take notice of one more bike in their midst until Yara pulls up next to a four-wheeler.
Yara: 90 - 40(Movement) - 10(Weather) / 100The driver looks at Yara. Yara looks at the driver. The driver fumbles a pistol out of his pocket. Yara shoots his tire.
The ATV lurches to the right, and Yara speeds ahead to avoid the explosion of twisted metal as it crashes full speed into a gnarled oak. She doesn't see what happens to the driver, nor does she feel compelled to look back. The view ahead has her full attention: The rest of the group has taken notice of her. The sound of the machine gun is replaced by furious shouting as the gunner brings his weapon around to face Yara.
Some ways ahead, Burt notes that the heavy gun has stopped firing. He has no time to consider what that means, as the magbike is still in hot pursuit and the rider is about to throw his grenade.
Rider: 20 - 25(Movement) / 100The small black bomb soars through the air, lands on top of the magbike in his truckbed, and...bounces out. For a moment, Burt loses track of the grenade. He keeps driving. The magbike remains on his tail.
Behind him, a fiery explosion. He checks his mirrors to see a vehicle spin bumper-over-bumper through the air, missing two wheels and a large section of undercarriage. It spins twice and crashes to the ground before erupting in a second explosion, sending jets of flame high into the forest canopy. A four-wheeler, unable to turn in time, smashes into the flaming wreck and sends its rider flying into a tree trunk.
The magbike rider looks over his shoulder and slams on the brakes. Burt turns left until the flames have disappeared from view and then banks right, trying to throw off any further pursuit. As far as he can tell, it's a success - there are no sounds or signs of him being followed. Just the forest, his truck, and the raging storm.
Yara is forced to swerve hard to the right as a series of explosions consume the vehicles in front of her. The machine gun has been destroyed, as has the other ATV. Only the two trucks, the towed gun, and the magbiker remain, all of them stopped in front of the burning wreck. Out of the truck nearest to her steps a man with a rifle. He's looking straight at Yara.
The sniper following Akkad chambers another round, shoulders his rifle, and takes aim. He's about to pull the trigger when suddenly he freezes. He remains that way for a long moment before lowering his weapon and dropping back down into the passenger seat of his wasterunner. The vehicle banks to the right and roars off into the forest.
Dominic keeps driving. On the plus side, he's pretty sure he left his pursuers in the dust long ago. But in doing so he's rendered himself completely lost; he has no idea where the others have gone or which way he's been going. The only way to tell direction in this thick wood is the tracks he's left in the underbrush behind him.
