I guess I can't really call it scary. Macabre, sure. But at no point do I feel the tension that comes with scary/horror stuff. Even the ship combat is so slow and methodical that it doesn't have the immediacy that creates anxiety and tension, like you'd expect with a horror game.

I like sunless sea but in my opinion it veers too far out of reality to really be horror.  It's why you rarely see medieval or fantasy horror.  Sci-Fi works when it's restrained cause it's close enough, but I think proper horror is best with a strong connection to reality.

I guess I should make a correction: Sunless Sea does have anxiety, but it's in the beginning where you don't know where your next paycheck will come from until you figure things out. (I like SS as well, in case it seems like I'm dogging on it.)
