Grimlocke mod balance vs everything else

I really want to use Grimlocke's mod, but it seems like vanilla weapons and weapons added by the other parts of the modpack stay in as well, which is a problem because they are a few orders of magnitude stronger than Grimlocke's. Grimlocke's mod is also supposed to reduce the lethality of creature and unarmed attacks to compensate for the reduced power level of his weapons and armor, but I don't see anything about that in the raws. Is there some scripting going on behind the scenes to hammer this all out, or should I just buff all the grimlocke raws?

I think it's just the weapons+armor.  I'd like the full balance mod, too, but it interacts with enough to be unwieldy.
