To note, the name was entirely because I was starting to panic over what to name my pretender. I cannot into names you see. This is also why I have not been naming my commanders, as I do not want to spend hours on my turns just doing that.

Also, I would like to emphasize Il Palazzo's extension request? Less than 3 hours remain for him... (Il Palazzo... If USEC is on EST, I don't think they'll be up in time to see this... Rush the turn if you can?....)

I was kinda worried that this might happen. In my opinion it's too early in the game to bump up the hosting peroid. We might need a co-admin, to give extensions or whatever when I'm away or preoccupied. Ideally someone who isn't on EST so we both aren't asleep at the same time.

There is! Use 'W' to order them to wait. They won't hide while in friendly provinces though.

Picking earth serpent because i'm sick of getting killed first and not wanting to bother with mound king logistics.

Mmmm.... I almost regret not sending a Storm Captain in now.
Sure, the rules meant that I'd not be able to sling lightning bolts, but Storm Captains have the MR to reliably resist Mind Blast and the melee competence where a melee with an Illithid Lord is a decent matchup, one that could go either way (Illithid Lord has the better equipment (though not by that much, largely how you compare a Meteorite Trident to a Sword and Hoplon) and a bit more HP, Storm Captain has better base attack/defense stats).

But no, the chances of seeing an Ashdod giant just stomp over everything were too great, sure a Storm Captain is big enough to not just get casually stomped underfoot, but they're not big enough to look eye-to-eye with a giant up close.

So congrats, a1s, for being the only one of us willing to send something significant with the risk of it getting its face kicked in by a giant looming.

Sending a spellcaster would have been a bad idea anyway; this particular arena forces Slave Collars on all contestants so that they cannot cast.

I know. I did my analysis with the fact that said Storm Captain would not be able to cast in mind. They are perfectly viable melee combatants. Remember that they aren't normal humans, they're Colossi. And their Size, HP, and MR all reflect that. (3, 24, 15, respectively)
Quite a bit more expensive gold wise than an Illithid Lord though, because commandy mage. Bit cheaper resource wise.
