We could just lie on all of our maps, or we could flood Europe.
The standard sense of Mario is that he won't murder someone but isn't good enough to not smash bugs. This is engraved into everyone’s mind.
There was one slight problem with the climb, and that was the spontaneous combustion.

You move around trying to get a glance at his comm screen. It does not work. (all of the comm screens have various applications. Try it. It is actually the only thing you can interact with right now.)

Start pressing random buttons on the comm screens I can get to. Look at what happens as I press each of the buttons

Probably isn't the best idea to be pressing random buttons on something we don't know what is, but I'm sure we'll be fine.

How else are we to learn about them but by seeing what happens as we do stuff?

You press a button on your comm screen. It makes a pop noise and turns on.There are two triangle shaped buttons and two round ones, one labled with a B and the other with an arrow. You press the lower triangle button and it moves the bold from New File to New Folder.
