"Does it have anything to do with curbing the plague?" you ask, now that you stand upright. "I wanted to aid myself anyway." The soldier quickly turns his attention towards you.
"That is true." he states, with no delay nor doubt. "Will you come with us, then?"
The company gives keen heed to your exchange, and you reinforce the intent.
"But of course!"
"Wait a wee bit." Flax takes a step in between. "He is not going anywhere without us."
You catch a passing glance from the girl, apart from it, no one as much as rests an eyelid.
"You may accompany him for now." the trooper replies, again in a manner sharp and prudent. "But let us proceed swiftly."
As fast as you have laid them down you now gather your belongings and join the brigade. There is about ten heads who have come to fetch you, setting off like one.
The inn is shut, no noise is spread from either floor. You pass the staircase and the empty table, out onto the street, likewise barren.
Only a couple watchmen stand in the night, however now that you are outside, some sound enters the silence, you can hear subdued weeps from somewhere in the settlement. But not in the direction you follow, and it seems hardly anyone notices. All the fellows are alert in the troop's presence, and all the rankers rivet on their duty, you are still somewhat giddy and much eludes your remark as well. Not to mention the fatigue highlights your limp, however the escort adjusts its common gait to said lag. And the anticipated barracks are not far ahead, much like every establishment around.
You are all let in, past the threshold at the very least. The negotiator then halts you, and passes through yet another door.
There are more than you who've just come, and it is not all other soldiers either, the lot seems to be waiting, just as you do now. The foreman returns rather quick, but passes another gesture to hold on.
"You will all enter in due time." he says. "For now, we have to insist that you do so separately. The woodwose is to go next."
"I don't like this one bit." Flax mutters to your ear. "They sent for you by a procession this ridiculous, a very bad sign indeed! I know not, whether it's wise to walk in on your own."
"An understandable view to have, but I'd say it's too soon to worry." you whisper back. "This place bears enough strife already..."
The door then opens, the while a dumbfounded commoner is led out by a regular. Upon this, your attendant restates his request.
"Your turn, sorcerer. Please, come in."
