Wouldn't this result in a world where most dynasties just die out from lack of children?

Dunno, I figure they're at least capable of marrying for necessity.

But why bother, if nobody cares?

You still gotta maintain your lineage.  It's gonna be weird cause by the logic of the game it was just 90% of the nobility suddenly became gay overnight, leaving all the social structures and religious laws regarding sexuality intact.  The catholic church still considered being gay a crime, so it broke apart as various lords created their own splinter sects where being gay was legal, meanwhile the Muslims all converted to "muwalladism" which already had it legal.

DO you? In my experience, hardly anyone cares about that, which is why my country's birth rate is below replacement.

Didnt some medieval monk orders have some practice that sounded suspiciously like gay marriage?

The world would be a much sparser place if this was widespread or sustainable.

Your country's not a hereditary landed noble class though.  Your country's also not a bunch of video game NPCs who are programmed with certain priorities regardless of what weird stuff the player sticks into the options.

Sure, but I'm arguing that the world would be a much sparser place if everyone were gay, too. :P

Well yeah, I'm saying that the result is unrealistic, not that it should magically have been different under the given conditions.

"Almost everyone in the world who was straight suddenly became gay overnight with no corresponding societal changes to make this acceptable" is itself already an unrealistic event, so the fact that a specific outcome of that happening is also unrealistic is kinda to be expected.

Also, gay people existed in real life during the game's timeframe and did in fact regularly get married and have kids just to keep their lineages going. When the rules of society are still telling you to get pregnant or get other people pregnant to keep the family intact, you kinda gotta do that.

Friendship is way too much magic.

You can hit -100% stress gain reduction by making 20 friends.
You can increase your stats by double of however many number of friends you acquire.  The sky is the limit or however much you manage to keep at finding friends.

I've only ever had one friend though, and it was a childhood event.

You need to hit that patriarch/matriarch tree in the diplomacy lifestyle branch to activate the magic of friendship.

Asshole husband marrying my first son off matrilineally to some random congenital defect and my heir daughter to some relative of a nobody I planned on conquering.  Caught that bastard and executed him before she could have a child with him and dethroned the family.

Betrothal, I should remember to use that.  What I get for marrying my liege.
