pet with a tool(pick) as bodypart
« on: April 17, 2020, 08:28:51 am »

I'd like to create an animal with a pick as bodypart, so it wouln't need to use a pick. Also, I would like it to be a naturat miner. Is this doable?
I know I can make them intelligent, so later on they apply for citizenship and so on, but can I somehow let them be natural miners?
Some sort of rhino-mole. or 'bulette', if ya know wadda mean.

Can't be done.  Mining is programmed to require a mining tool and during gameplay can only be done by player-controlled forts.  Worldgen ignores this.

If you want them to be a playable race, you could make a mining tool like "metal claws" which they will use instead of picks.

It is possible to make a creature that drops a tool when butchered (either using extra butcher objects or making the material have a butcher item in the form of the tool) but these will not actually be used by the creatures to dig.
