Why does everyone talk about AI rights but nobody talk of AI responsibilities
because thinking of sentient beings as merely tools is wrong
But human sentients have responsibilities as well and that doesn't equate them with tools
true. I think the reason we focus on rights is because they happen to be built by people, and people tend to be of the mindset that what they build must obey them unconditionally. There were times when other humans were seen as tools, and it took far too long for people to realize that other people aren’t just tools. I fear that people will treat AIs as slaves, because people build their bodies. I fear that people will create AIs specifically for a task, and dismantle those thst dare think for themselves. Humans aren’t bred for specific tasks, and most of us think of other humans as equals. There are still those who think AIs are “just machines”, if people retain that mentality even when they become sentient, they are slaves. How is sentience determined? I don’t want us to treat other intelligences as slaves, intentionally or unintentionally. What are thoughts? What are emotions but reactions to stimuli? While our emotions are due to hormones, chemicals in the brain, theirs would be mediated by electricity. Are emotions states of thought that coax one to do specific actions?
