There are few people truly dedicated to the 'Adventurer Gods'. Most have their favorite prayers or habits, and generally hope that these beings do not truly exist.
Xerxe Pegason is not one of those. He was a foundling child who was raised in a Church of of Titania as a Holy Warrior-his potential was that he eventually graduated to the rank of "Whitecloak"-an unsullied defender of Good Folk and Smiter of Bad Folk, at least in the Goddesses eyes. And in this role he was mostly content, though he was never quite satisfied-it seemed to the Church, most of the evil in the world came from the other Churches who coveted their position. And despite frequent promises, he never actually saw of the Goddesses who were said to be really attractive and interested in strong warriors.
All was unwell, until his Church Headmistress lost him in the annual Scrubbage Tournament, trying to bluff the Headmistress of the Church of Megara (poorly) with an unenhanced Berserk Chariot and a 1 star Tesla Tanker, not noticing that her magic-wells had all been ley-poisoned by the Headmistress of the Church of Pyras Toxical Trap Card. He promptly traded in his White cloak for a Red One, and found service in another Churches army...doing the same thing. The Church of Megara later traded him for an archer adventurer from the Church of Gaia-decrying his whip as a 'weak weapon that needed better balancing'. He could never tell if it was divine humor or just bad luck, but he kept being swapped from the Church of one Goddess to the church of another Goddess. He relaxed in the Church of Serenas 'Holy Saunas' after slaying Sea-Trolls in her Holy Oceanic Arena, Held his silence during as the Headmistress of the Church of Pyra asked the Impossible Question (
Does this make me look fat?), and sneaked into farmhouses at night to replace buckets of fresh milk with spoiled milk at the Church of Discordias mad whims. He grew quite tired of the whole thing eventually, and the last straw was when he realized the Church of Freya was going to send him back to the Church of Titania as part of her disarmament deal to secure everlasting peace between the faithful.
The really real last straw was that when he realized he had still never actually seen any of the Goddesses. He began to wonder if they really cared at all. Certainly he had never felt much in the way of blessings. Perhaps it was all a sham! Did they even exist? He was soon spotted riding out of town, chased by overlarge Holy Bolts descending from the sky.
But while one may lose faith in the Gods, one never loses faith in faith. Xerxe became an adventurer and realized that by and large, despite most other adventurers being Godless and Hedonistic Barbarians, they had a sort of religion as well. It was up to him, apparently, to write the holy scriptures that would lead these people to True Goodness that the Goddesses had wrongfully claimed. He decided in a sort of honor of his former patrons, that he should worship all of the New Gods simultaneously. He also decided to wear a rainbow cloak to symbolize his new multi-hued belief system.
Recent History: Xerxe found that preaching and scripture only worked so far-you needed to inspire people by direct action. He found at that point was what he thought was the scummiest, most untrustworthy band of brigands he could (the wharf street warriors) and volunteered to work for them for minimal pay-as long as he could negotiate use of the bosses printing press to make Holy Flyers. His adventuring career found himself fighting alongside the bosses sister Nico, whom he developed a sort of transplanted loyalty-all his previous leaders had been women in the church as well, and her nature was quite refreshing in comparison. He showed himself to be a brave, even selfless fighter-Xerxes believes strongly that ones fate is unescapable, written in stone, and that all one can determine is how they face that fate. Fear is an old friend, but not one that rattles him much. This made Xerxes prime bodyguard material, as he formed a sort of protective sibling mentality toward Nico-he had of course, no family of his own, and was eager to form bonds. By the time of our adventure the Wharf Warriors are beginning to fill that gap. The boss knew that Xerxe was an odd duck for sure, but he wasn't the sort of person who would ever leave anyone behind...one could do worse than a zealously ascetic defensive older brother figure in his own mold.

Shipp: Goddess Of Unlikely, Yet Extremely Imaginative, Pairings Between Two Or More People Who Could Be Beautiful Together If The Other Gods Weren't Idiots, I Mean Wouldn't It Be Cool If They Got Together?
Said to send reams of fictional holy texts detailing these imaginary unions into the dreams of her most fervent worshipers every night. Prayers to Shipp usually ask for for her to bless long shot romantic unions, and involve sacrifices of Holy Ink and offerings of Fantastical Art. It's said that she loses interest if these pairings actually occur, however, only be interested in the ephemeral of what could, can, might, or should never be.
Cav-Bat-Knok-Bak: God of Becoming Enraged By Seemingly Minor Threats Who Seemingly Exist Only To Defeat You In A Pivotal Moment, Causing Absolute And Unrecoverable Disaster.
Said to take the form of a small and seemingly harmless flying rodent lurking on the very far edge of a bottomless pit one has to leap across, adventurers often send prayers to him (in the form of small projectile weapons being tossed) before they make momentous decisions-hoping he's not waiting on the other side to knock them into the pit.
Dodgeador: God of Getting Out Of the Way If You Can, But Otherwise Making Hits Not So Bad After All, You Know, If You Have To Get Hit You Just Gotta Shrug It Off And Keep Going, This Level Isn't Going To Finish Itself.
Said to be closely related to Evador, perhaps even divine kin, Dodgeador differs in that his beliefs state that while you can't evade everything entirely, you can always dodge the worst of it. Dodgeadorians and Evadorians are said to be pretty hostile to one another due to this small but vital Religious disagreement, though right now the numbers of the faithful might be like five people, including Xerxes. Dodgeadorians and superstitious adventurers always make sure to ritually brush their shoulders nonchalantly after sustaining certain disaster and persisting, because you always gotta be cool.
