[1] "The local Businessman leveled the hydrogen plant in Rodstadt, as ordered. And we destroyed everything else with the bombardment. So, really, only the church is necessary. After you give the signal, we don't even need that." Maxwell scrubs at the patchy beard he's growing. "Place is mostly rubble, but those damn things don't give a shit. They burrow beneath it."

With a shrug, he continues, "We'd like to keep the bridges intact, but I've given orders that if they try to break out, and the platoons start getting overwhelmed, to blow them up."

"There's something else, something big, in the central plaza. We think its a command structure. Or a feeding ground. We tried to bomb it, but it's pretty resilient."

"Understood.  I think I will begin by flying above the city and seeing what paths to the church are free of rubble and enemy fortifications.
That will help me make a better decision as to how to approach.  Do you anticipate any problems with that idea?"

"Massed small arms fire might take you down. If you're up too high for that, you might not be able to see. We've only got the one hover-craft, besides the supply ships that come in. If you get shot down, we can't rescue you, and our assault is delayed until we get another one to send messages."

Maxwell sighs, "If you want to, I don't know if I can stop you."

"A platoon or two per bridge would be acceptable; after you seize the city we're not expecting any trouble from the southeast. They'll have relatively light fighting if everything goes well. Which it won't, but one can always hope."

If I;m reading the map right, which I’m probably not, there are 4 bridges, so 8 platoon members? Please correct me if I’m wrong

I think 3 bridges?  I'm not sure.

"What can you tell me about the enemies in the city?  Specifically, what sorts of weapons do they have and do they have any extra capabilities beyond burrowing?"

After this, I'd say we're just about ready to make this happen.

Only two. That long wavy thing in the bottom...southwest. I'm a moron goddamni=FDSfgdsghfsd. I'll edit for clarity. Sorry.

[6] "You ain't fight them yet?" Maxwell looks up from his maps hesitantly. "The big insect ones usually just charge right at you, ripping and tearing with tentacles harder than steel. Sometimes they hide underground, though. Big bastards, bigger than [beast of burden, cow]. If you get hit, you're likely to be infected. It's better to lose a limb than to take the chance. Las-guns don't do well. too much meat. Cutter Hilts can slice through them, and Inferno shotguns can do a number if you pump enough shells into them."

"The little ones, the ones that used to be people, the ones who died holding a gun usually...have it incorporated into them." He shudders, a hollow look in his eye, "But they're the same way, except they only got one or two tentacles if you're lucky. They all screech and charge, trying to infect and kill as much as possible while shooting all over the place. Corpses that get left behind either get et' or get back up. Too much bodily damage and the [demon] leaves them. We have to dismember the dead on a retreat. They still get eaten, but...but its better than coming back."

"They played a shell game with their numbers. They infected five towns and pulled back to these three, which happen to be the land routes through the district."

Go to the city following the plan of 2 platoons per bridge, when there, incinerate the rubble, hopefully damaging/killing burrowers if not flushing them out

We'll be approaching from the north, so we'll get to the church, and the large enemy command post, before we get to the bridges.

"Mm. One last question then, Lieutenant Major: how best to kill an insect [demon]?"

Ask our armor the same question.
