Cephie... she was sort of assaulting us, but we shouldn't have been so harsh...

How were we to know? That situation was decidedly unsafe in appearance, and Cephie engineered it to be that way. A test of our will.
Those words, that struggle... they needed to happen. I am grateful.

...not to say Cephie couldn't maybe use a hug at some point. Poor girl must've been terrified.

Nod. "That broadcast sought aid against the Plague, a millennium ago. The locals have been beating it back ever since, and losing-- we came here looking for something to turn the tables."

The man tosses the Captain's chair aside and kneels. A small device, shaped very much like a blocky key, extends from the center of his armor from a line of cable -- and it hooks into the console. Murdach sits patiently as data flashes across the display.

"Well you found it. I've got about thirty of m'folk in level three Void armor, what survived the explosion. The lot of'm are harder than their own plating. Guns, a bit of ammo, those antimatter bombs you got interested in. What remains of a few families -- in total, twelve clans of miscreants and hellcats whats been carried on the Void." A sigh is echoed from the amplifier. "This...this is goin' to be more than a few months of mournin'. Any of my folk survive out there?"

...

"...not exactly."
Smile thin. "They procreated. We call their descendants the Families."

"...they've gone native--" The impressive capabilities of Low Empyreal swearing is put on full display. You actually learn a few curses from the ancient pirate.

"Hey, hold up. Don't just tell'm that. He'll be depressed for weeks." Cephie giggles, taking a seat on the engineer's chair. "Tell him 'bout all the mischief they get up to."

"...where do I begin?" You shake your head, claiming a seat nearby and crossing your arms over your chest. "For one, it seems like one of those bastards is either involved in, or behind every single mischief or civil unrest. They're probably the best shock troops this planet has. A more ferocious and savage bunch you cannot find here--"

"They still fight like us!" Murdach cheers.

"But smart too. Clever. They took one look at a Clan Voidmarine they...acquired, and built their own from las-gun parts, fusion generators and bits of scrap metal they had laying around. They took one look at a novelty radio and built one of the best military communication networks this planet probably has now. If I could make the call from here, they would bust down the door for me, so loyal enough I suppose..."

"You're either family to them or a contract-holder."

"I Ascended two of them, if that's of an--"

"My kin?! Ascended?!" The armor suddenly barks as the entire suit turns your way, the sensors on the 'helmet' zooming in on you. "That means we're kin now too, you know. You share our blood. I'm your great, great, great, great granduncle in law or some such nonsense now."

"Your people are still causing trouble...but Pheobe...who had Antimatter on this planet? Know any groups that could produce massive explosions?" Cephie questions, innocently. The way she holds herself, the slight, puzzled frown and the dark glee dancing in her eyes as they make contact with you -- all tells. Purposeful ones. Had you not known her, you would never notice the hint of a secret barely kept,

"Happened just a few months ago." Cephie giggles. "A whole city -- gone in a blast that broke the earth and burned the sky."

"What? Who did it?" Murdach questions, confused.

"Ha, are you saying that SEED had a cache of antimatter ordnance and only used it once, to blow itself up?  That's some serious self-control.  Captain, that was your would-be employer, a SEEDship."

"Twice. One for a band of Pirates and once for itself." Cephie idly points out.

"Well, I guess there ain't many ways better to peel a patchjob off than with that." Murdach murmurs, after hesitation. "Good threat, too, if you think about it. Tell me, Patchwork, enough with the small talk. What do you want, and what can I give you? ...I want peace. Its been a thousand years since we slept -- but you still mention the Plague. Our last home was ruined by them. If this is our home, we will fight the Plague until there's nothing left of us. Ask your offer."

["And if you need to know the value of something, let me know."] Cephie offers through Lucille.

We want peace too, we want the plague destroyed
There is probably a better way of wording this, but I think this is the goal
