I say we dual wield two of the burner pistols and overload both of them into the big thing at the same time.
+1 aim for its main head

Well now.

+1 aim for its main head

+1 - Straight into the screaming maw.
(but er, maybe take the scant time to aim-and-fire one pistol then the other? Dual-wielding is hard.)

[/////.]

[11-1 vs 10] [12-1] You pull a las-pistol from your bandolier, lifting it towards the beast and overloading it, all in one smooth motion. It creaks in your hands from the strain of the internal energy, before spitting forth a focused beam of fire that burns a hole in the Colossus' sinuous body.  So focused are you on the arithmetic, that you don't notice the tentacle that whips around. An arc of energy spreads out over your shield, the percussion of the two fields of energy sending you sprawling into the paved streets. Your shield, barely recharged, shatters once more.

[12-1 vs 5][8-1][14] The next pistol is out of the bandolier before you even rise to your feet, and it burns through the Colossus' face with a sickening sizzle. A focused beam of light burning into the dusty air above the city. You dodge forward, just in time to avoid one of those swinging tentacles and the arc of electricity that follows it. The creature opens its mouth,  the static pouring forth increasing. You notice that some of your soldiers drop to their knees, clutching their ears, screaming. You can see why-- it hurts, and complicates the complex arithmetic of your functions.

[///...]

[11-2 vs 12] You peel another pistol-- and you scream, as those scouring tentacles slam into your chest and send you into the plaza's stonework with a sickening thud, the electricity arcing through you. You try to scramble to your knees, but stumble, as you try to breath. Your chest is numb, and your lungs--your lungs refuse to draw in air. Your armor is cracked and scored by the blow, and you hate to think what your chest would resemble if you didn't have it.

[Severe burns, nerve damage. Oxygen levels plummeting-- please hold. Chestplate broken. Insufficient nutrients to repair. Prioritizing lungs.]

[14]You scramble out of the way of the Colossus' path as it finally coils itself out of its egg, slamming its back-end into the ground where you once stood, the earth cracking beneath its blow. You finally gasp in a breath, your lungs working again, and nearly choke as you greedily inhale.

The two of you size each other up, the feral intelligence in it's eyes showing hesitation.

What do each of the drugs do? Or do we not know yet? Either way, eat some nutrient cubes to stave off hunger and heal ourselves

Use inferno to fly out of range of the tentacles.  Then, continue to fire overloads into it from range.  Eat and inject more Ballistic.

Also, cut off our ears.

cut off our ears.

O_o

I'll grant our Healing Factor makes for some neat possibilities, but I don't think cutting off the external portions of our ears would actually deafen us right now. (Also, gah.)

+1 to the rest of this tho.

It would help a lot.  A bit more difficult to hear without ears, if not a ton.  Any reason you don't want to eat and inject the Ballistic?

Edit: nevermind, saw the edit.  Looks good to me.

Right, fine. A bit of hearing loss would be nice right now. Let's see if we can't find a less immediately horrifying way of doing that tho?

[I'm already stopping them, Sadil. Those are vibrations.]

Are you sure you want to eat in the middle of combat?
