Let's get some comfort from Inspiribot in these difficult times.

Thanks, Inspiribot.

...right. I feel like without additional sustenance (not really an option right now), we just don't have the power left over for Inferno flight.

We need more information.

What's this thing's body structure like anyway? How many tentacles has it got, and how long? How's it move itself about?

focus on dodging it while we perform the analysis

I think we should be able to handle it, as inferno is one of our strongest abilities.

My perspective is that we have to get out of range of the tentacles.  One more hit will kill us.

Yeah, fair. The Inferno's worth it, but we'll more be using it to push ourselves back than up I expect.

Use inferno to propel ourself out of range of the tentacles.  Inject more Ballistic.

How about this, and then we'll evaluate the situation from there?

[8 vs 6][1-1] You get a good glance at the creature as you lift your hands in front of you, trying to blow yourself back from the Colossus. You try to twist your will into fire-- but nothing happens--the tentacles lash out, but miss you entirely, and you try to back away--

The Colossus is a good [thirty feet] long, and about a third of that wide. [Ten feet], at any one time, is coiled beneath it to give it stability. It's a bright red, like fresh blood, and its moist hide is covered with the twisted visages of human faces. Dozens of eyes line its 'face' and spiral down maddeningly to the main parting of its body, where it splits off into sinuous, twisting tentacles. It's missing one cluster of arms, but it has many more spreading out like a radiant from the center of its body, what you would perhaps call its torso. Shocks of electricity arc out from its various appendages as they convulse and writhe. Its presence causes distortions in the local electromagnetic field. The static it emits is loud enough to feel in your bones, and only the Thorntons seem unaffected, holding the line, while your soldiers, the weak of will and wounded turn combat knives on themselves-- trying to carve out their ears in a panic. In its eyes gleams a strange intelligence. Especially as it twists away from you into the plaza proper, crushing some of your slower troops.

[1]It's examining you in turn, pausing in its ferocious assault. The static twists itself into you, and you hear it, hear it as clearly as you can, E̟̣̺̠̖̼͂̌̄́͠ͅm̼ͧͨ̾͞p̸̬̽̆͑ͩ́͊̾ͣ̿͘͢y̴̲̱͉̿ͭ̂͗ͯͤͯŗͭ͋͏̻̺͝e͛ͤ̓̿̀̃͗͢͝҉̖̣̬͚̺̳a̧̢̖̩̩̖͉̻ͪ͌͛̍͊l͉̯͎̟̰͉͉̝͆͂ͪ͊̾.̴͇͕̰̫̞̖͙̍͐̑͘͝ ̹̰ͣ̋͆͋ͮ̾͢M̷͚͍̼͊ͥ̕c̸̬̹͗͂̋̓̐ͯ̅͒̐C̱͙̦̬̾̔͋̅ͮ͟͝ŕ̖̼̜̍̐͠ĕ͉̻͕̦̝̻̹̥͋ͨ̈́́͋ͬ̾á͉̺̣̒ͬͮ̋ͫ̋̿r̸̦̙̠͕̿̿̈͜y̸͙̮͕͍̥ͦ͛͊̽́ͅ.̟͂͂̀ ͎̤̺̰ͧC̸̫̟̤̻̳ͣͭ̓̽ͧ̓͒͠͠ͅỏ̝̦̟̮̀̈͡ň̈́͐ͦ͆̃̇҉̷͙̼͉͝s̛͚̝̥̞͕̩̏ͮ̌̌u̴̝̣ͯ́̋ͥ͋̎̉m̞̖̬̖̤̥̊̏͊͐̄e̺̐ͬͣ̐ͥͩ.̸̡̳̳̪̦̉ͫ̎̒͘

[5 vs 11] Its torso bulges, and you try to slip out of the way as it inhales through too many mouths-- but it tracks your flight through the plaza, and it exhales. The screech hits you full blast-- and it isn't simply a noise. Its a complex string of gibberish code and a vocal assault on your very willpower. It disorientates you, blinds you, makes your limbs turn to jelly or into twitching, convulsing things that respond to no commands. Your brain attempts to process the data, and in doing so, the Colossus short-circuits it. Images flash through your mind-- a burning plague ship, turning into a fireball on impact, the hunger, the pain, the Great Disconnect...

You collapse, and the wurm slithers closer.

[Sadil. S-S-Sadil--mult-....[ERROR]]

[6 vs 4] William grabs you from the crater you lay slumped in, scooping you up and hurling you into a nearby pile of rubble for cover with surprising force. The blow drives the air from your lungs, and you're fairly sure you broke a rib, but considering the tentacle that crashes down where the two of you once stood, you suppose it's better than your entire body. You twitch a finger, then an arm, slowly regaining control as your vision swims. William's las-rifle impacts the creature's eyes, carefully placed shots made by the man as he slowly jogs away from you. Your soldiers turn their attention away from the barricades to help lay down suppressing fire on the creature. It screams in static once more, swinging a long tentacle and sending soldiers flying or rending them apart.

[17 vs 10] William keeps it distracted while you recover, narrowly avoiding those rending limbs with a grace that surprises you from an eight foot tall, heavily armored super-soldier. He takes careful shots, meant to aggravate, picking off eyes like they're targets on a range. No shot is wasted.

Your right arm comes back to your control, and with a shaking hand, you grab some ballistic from your kit, popping it into your number, lifeless arm. It only takes a minute for the world to become vibrant, for your senses to sharpen, for your body to start shaking with energy and adrenaline. Your mind races. Unable to do anything else, you choke down a nutrient cube, coughing some of it up as your mouth refuses to chew that quickly.

[10 vs 18] William's luck runs out as you rise to your feet-- a tentacle catches across his chest, and sends him spiraling into the ruins. You see blood, and the Thorntons break off from their spirited defense of the barricade to cover him-- only for them to be knocked into the rubble or ripped apart.

[Begin troubleshooting of Mark 15 Battle Armor.]

Let's try hitting it with some earth manipulation spikes for a change of pace, in the torso where I assume its more important organs are.  Maybe we'll be able to do more damage that way.

Bahahaha. We're dead.

Let's make this good.

We're gonna call up whatever love for this world and its people we still have, and we're gonna put one spike straight through the ungodly torso of our enemy. Maybe we can pin it to the ground.
