I recently noticed that worlds that run longer than 300 years in worldgen have a significant chance of crashing and burning. I have tried on my PC, my friends PC, and my laptop, Windows and Linux, and it always seems to happen. Either it segfaults, or bombs without error, with no world going beyond 700 years.

Recently, I acquired a duo core laptop and I've been genning worlds like crazy, some for a thousand years without an error. All the machines I've had this problem on are quad cores. I'd be interested to hear other DF players experiences with these problems.
