The departure of Jung's forces is swift, and quiet. There is no fanfare to send them on their way, only tearful wives, husbands, and children seeing their loved ones ride to battle. Jung himself is bid farewell by his wife, and their children. The faces of both of the royal children are stained with tears as their father rides north.

2nd of Flowerfall

~After two weeks of travel, Jung and his forces arrive at the outskirts of Valciso. A small, ragtag military force was there, waiting for them. A primarily mercenary force, flying the flag of House Castor- a green leaping swordfish on a field of dark blue. Aiming to keep casualties to a minimum, Jung directs the bulk of his forces to engage the enemy in the field. As they are occupied, Jung directs his relatively small elite guard into the city...~

"Father!" Theoben Castor, captain of the guard, rounded the corner to the docks as several docked vessels moved out to sea. "I have a report from the scouts. The approaching army bears the standard of the Minos. It's the Royal army, no doubt about it!"

Bosco grabbed his chin, stroking at the bare stubble that had begun to accumulate after his morning shave. "Tch. I didn't really expect the King to jump to a response of force so soon. I've met the man, and he's the type to drag his feet. Did we push too far...?"

"It sure looks like you did. Maybe you should back down, dad."

"No, I don't think so. Our movement has support, and we could end it if we back down here. Once those ships return with aid from up the coast, we'll be well positioned to weather any siege the King is willing to commit to."

But from down the street, a voice rang out. "Lord Castor! An enemy force has slipped around the defenders! They're in the city! It's the King!"

The blood drained out of Bosco's face in an instant. "Shit! Those sellswords aren't worth the boots they're wearing! How many are with him?"

"They number... less than ten, sir? Our orders?"

Bosco looked at his son, who nodded. "...If his majesty thinks he can take my city with a measly ten men, he's in for a rude awakening. Capture the King, alive if you can, and kill the rest. Samuella, I want you helping with the defense, but withdraw if you find yourself in any danger. Theoben, get out there and direct the guard. Let's show them the strength of House Castor!"

At the same time, Jung and his elite guard had reached the city interior. "They don't seem willing to negotiate. If we can defeat the head of House Castor, his army should fold. Let's move quickly."

Subgoal: Defeat Theoben and Samuella!

Berseria looks over the town. There are a lot of angry people looking to kill us. Guess negotiations won't be occurring.

"My my, look what we have here. We may wish to fight defensively to start off, rather than charging in.

"Yep, definitely not tourists. I really wish we could've avoided this hassle but alas it was not to be." The outlaw casually walks forward, bow in tow, before doing any good scout's job and getting a bigger view of the situation. Taking a peek around the corner of the building he noticed some other rebels stationed. Best let everyone know before they're on our doorstep.

"Just a heads up everyone but there are some more fellas on the other side of this building. There maybe even more coming from up top so watch your flanks." With that Belros prepared himself for whatever may happen. No way would he charge in there, he'd keel over in just one or two attacks from those brutes.

If this was the city guard, then that Castor guard captain had to be nearby. Again, Ferry seemed as if she was counting, even as the king rode forward to clash with the axemen on the barricades several times.

"Cover me if you can. I'll wait for an opportunity to engage."

Valter calmly watches the beginning of the engagement. He was disappointed, if not surprised, at the Castor's defiance; it seemed traitors to their King were popping up everywhere one looked. But no matter. They would be dealt with like any other enemy of the throne.

”Excellent work, my King," Valter calls out, passing Jung on the way to assist their dancing companion.

”You too, Berseria. Allow me to bring you back to safety."

Valter moves to [D, 8], Rescues Berseria, and Cantos back to [B, 8].

Edgar observes how the initial tussle proceeded. It was his first time being so close to a battlefront, and as a combatant no less. He couldn't deny that there's a certain excitement growing within his heart, although it is more the thrill of learning old things from a fresh perspective than any martial desire.

"Well, well. Keep at it. Fight defensively, let them come to us, but deal the occasional first strikes to force them into an early commitment we can exploit. Then we may be able to deal with this rebellion without much bloodshed."

He then moves next to Valter and assists Berseria in getting down from the horse.

"However, I cannot help but worry about the citizens that keep out of the fight. It would be wise to make sure they aren't drawn into the conflict, and re-establish their trust in His Majesty. But can we commit to the backalleys without weakening our defensive march...?"

B9, Takes Berseria from Valter, drops Berseria on C9.

After dealing with the two who already made their way around the corner Belros noticed even more foot steps coming in. Yea nope, no way he could handle more men by himself. He'll just head back to the main group, best way to reduce the heat on him.

"I really didn't want to fight, but you all brought this on yourselves. I'll try to make this quick though."

This was a bad matchup for her, the long reach of a spear versus her dagger. But that was the intention and the deception - as the lance lunged for her it met Alwine's nigh impenetrable defenses instead.

"Keep your eyes on me."

She could never match the grace of a dancer or a fencer, but this was just economy of movement, the practical application of knowledge of weapon reach and attack angles and human anatomy as Ferry weaved in and out with harassing strikes, testing, waiting to create an opening for someone else.
