For this he was appointed the Head of the Physics Research Department, an important but otherwise harmless position. The leadership of science vessel Katalogisierer was thus given to Elizabeth Vandenberg, who lead the Physics Department previously.

The mineral bounty obtained is what prevented von Reckendorf's fall, as the minerals were swiftly exchanged for private funds and equipment needed to begin construction of two colony vessels.

The first ever colony ship of Galactic Empire, the Helvetica, launches from Sol shipyard, carrying almost a million of colonists.

It's destination, Sirius Starzone, the site chosen by Kaiser Rudolf as the sity of first Imperial colony.

In a public ceremony, Kaiser Rudolf congratulated the brave pioneers, celebrating their feat as the further proof of the Empire's superiority as a government.

During the ceremony, Kaiser Rudolf also announces that Physics Research Department created the first cost-efficient Fusion Reactor. Soon, clean fusion power shall propel Humanity to even greater heights.

Herr Kosel's job will be investigating and exploiting various ruins left by alien empires of ancient past that were found in nearby Starzones, staring with Procyon IV site.

Veteran of Tiyanki research, Imperial Envoy Horst Schmude, was appointed to cooperate with Society Research Department in deciphering these weird 'cosmic crystals'.

Anticipation was high during the proclamation, as it would be the first battle of Imperial Fleet against an enemy force.

Clara Aldringen, a secondary to Horst Schmude, was appointed to lead the linguistic and codebreaking officers in establishing communication with the fleet's owners.

As it stands, these alien forces could easily obliterate the fledgling Galactic Empire!

The initial missile salvo by the K1-class corvettes did well to damage the sturdy exteriors of Crystalline Entities, and the subsequent laser barrage cracked open many of them.

Victory was proclaimed few days later, leading to celebrations on the streets of Odin; although damage to several Corvettes was extensive, casaulties were minimal and not a single ship was lost, greatly increasing popularity of Admiral Drewentz amongst both nobility and the common folk.

Science vessel Katalogisierer, in the meanwhile, entered the now safe Chiiban Starzone with orders to analyze Crystalline Entities' remains and survey the local celestial bodies as well.

In fact, he was hailed as the expert on the mystical field of Psionics. His mind-reading experiments have drawn both interest and ridicule of his peers, but Herr von Thurneysen remained relentless in pursuit of 'highest functions of Human brain'.

Slanderous rumors started to circulate around the same that Klaus von Thurneysen has been indulging in 'Zro inhalations' during his off-time.

The excavations on surface of Procyon IV have been completed by the team of Professor Eugen Kosel.

The implications of their discoveries are clear and have forwarded some ideas for the Society Research Department.

Kaiser Rudolf, in a personal decree, has sent Herr Kosel on another mission, this time to excavate the Zro-containing ruins on nearby Procyon II site.

It was speculated that this might've been influenced by Herr von Thurneysen's interest and subsequent expertise in the field of Psionics.

After a lengthy dispute with Imperial officials, another shuffle occurs in the Physics Research Department: Michael von Reckendorf loses his position as the Head of the Department.

In his place, Hildegard Stekkel, a renowned explorer and expert on Particle mechanics, is made the new Head. The command of science vessel Gelehrte is placed in hands of young and enthusiastic Annerose Seefered.

Few days later, at age of 59, Michael von Reckendorf is found dead in his apartment, apparently having committed suicide via cyanide pill.

Elizabeth Vandenberg dies suddenly at age of 82 from heart attack shortly after completing the surveys of Nugaan Starzone.

Her second-in-command, Maximilian Drewentz (nephew of Admiral Günther Drewentz) is made leader of the venerable science vessel, Katalogisierer.

A woman of many achievement, her funeral is attended by Kaiser Rudolf himself.

And it is Maximilian Drewentz who sends urgent report to Admiralty's office: the path through Qamm Starzone is blocked by Crystalline Entities, and in a force much greater than the cluster found previously around Chiiban.

This will require much more firepower, and therefore Kaiser Rudolf has ordered creation of 2nd Fleet, to be led by Admiral Clementz von Silberberch, while command of 1st Patrol Squadron is given to recently promoted Admiral Horst von Keltring.

Lower-ranking officers speculate that both 1st and 2nd Fleet will be dispatched to clear Qamm Starzone of the Crystalline Entities at some later date.

Similar to Crystalline Entities, the Space Amoebas are mindless but very dangerous creatures, capable of destroying armored ships with ease.

Kaiser Rudolf proclaimed the Space Amoebas a threat to Human vessels and slated the species for eradication.

Its contents are revealed to the Admiralty the next day, and travel through Cursa Starzone is prohibited.

Admirals Drewetz and von Silberberch are dispatched with 44 Corvettes to the Nugaan Starzone on an over two-year expedition.

Once their rendevouz there is complete, the two Fleets will be ordered into Qamm Starzone to engage Crystalline Entities there.

Frau Radbruch's lobbying and Bittenfeld's personal expertise convince Kaiser Rudolf to promote Karl Robert to the position as the new Head of that Department, citing Horst Kosel's sluggishness in excavations on Procyon II.

Kaiser Rudolf has personally decided to intervene and relocate part of Odin lowest strata to Hartenburg and Beenemünde colonies.

An ancient species called 'the Zroni' once inhabited the galaxy, possessing marvelous power of Psionics, and all clues point to the fact that these energies of the mind can be tamed.

This in turn validates Klaus von Thurneysen's own pursuits. He has been made Head of Society Research Department at Kaiser Rudolf's personal urging. Command of science vessel Botanik II passed to Margareta von Kleingeit.

1st and 2nd Fleets arrive in Qamm Starzone, and immediately set out to eradicate the Crystalline Entities in there.

The missile salvos once again prove to be spectacular in combat. Even the larger crystals are easily cracked by the explosive payloadss and then sliced apart by lasers.

Two ships in total were lost, and those who survived the Battel of Qamm Starzone celebrate.

However, a message dispatched to the combined Fleets assigns them to Pandill Starzone for resupply and repairs.

Similarily, the 1st Patrol's route is extended all the way to Pandill Starzone, which recently began collecting taxes from merchants operating in neighbouring Starzones.

But shadows of uncertainty are slowly laying upon the Empire. Kaiser Rudolf is getting old, and many feel he is irreplaceable or that his heiress Brünhild is not up to the task. Elsewhere, reports of rising crime levels and resource deficits began piling on the desks of middle-ranked officials.

In the year 2239, contemporary pundits began to wonder if it was a mistake to commission the expansion of the Galactic Imperial Navy. For a powerful Imperial Navy could begin to exercise undue influence in the wake of an Elderly Emperor. Historians to this day contemplate whether relations with the aliens could have been peaceful had a more restrained Navy been ordained - for that power which could strike against pirates, could also strike other states.

Chapter 3: Imperial Expansion Policies, Scientific Politicking and Magnificent Funerals

Shortly after finishing repairs to 1st and 2nd Fleets, Admirals Drewentz and von Silberberch receive dispatches to cull the Amoebas dwelling in the Yamal Starzone.

A brief dispute between the two Admirals occurs, Drewentz wanting more ships for 2nd Fleet while von Silberberch berating his peer's overcautious approach.

The dispute is turned moot when Kaiser Rudolf personally orders their immediate departure for Yamal Starzone.

A disturbing report lands at the desk of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It uncovers edficits in the Imperial budgeting and problems within resource management; within a year, the power networks of the Empire will be overburdened, and crippling shortages of consumer goods and even food would come in next few years.

This prompts the Kaiser to push for development of civilian infrastructure and focus on governmental research for the next few years.

Proper grid management could increase Energy profits while using part of stations for food production could lessen the burden of planet-side agriculture.

All these, however, will take several years to implement at best. An immediate shift of workforce is mandated for Beenemünde and Hartenburg colonies.

Their little spawn is basically organic space superiority fighters. While no corvettes were lost this time, the Admiralty has been considering developing a ship that could boost the Fleets' point-defense tactics.

Following the victory, the 1st and 2nd Fleets were ordered back to Sol Starzone for repairs.

Long-time friend of Kaiser Rudolf, he was about to be called out of retirement to help govern the Rasalas Starzone Sector.

Imperial Government easily finds a replacement for him; Otto Heinz von Selle, age 37, noted for dutifulness and exceptional endurance and vitality.

Instead, this time it was Imperial Privy Council who announced the new policies of Expansion, which will contribute to the foundation of colonies, management of the ever-increasing systems and general growth of Human population.

Meanwhile, Kaiser Rudolf is spotted by members of nobility attending the funeral of Ursula von Bertz, who died at age 63 after ingesting too many drinks one night. Only few years later the truth behind her relationship with Kaiser Rudolf would become fully known to Imperial Court.

Her place as Governor of Sol Sector is taken by middle-aged but rather inexperienced Jakob Wöhler, a bureaucrat and von Bertz's former secretary.

While they're inactive and basically useless, the engineering behind them has allowed Imperial engineers to come up with assembly schematics for macro-constructions, like military forts and civilian skyscrapers.

Imperial inquiry into the matter is quickly closed as Herr Bittenfeld's whereabouts cannot be ascertained even after a thorough search.

The excavations at Sidyr site are called off, the support vessel Schreiber is decomissioned, and the activities of Xeno-Archeology Department are temporarily suspended.

Rumors about Karl Robert Bittenfeld's untimely disappearance continued for years after the event, fueling imaginations of numerous conspiracy theorists.

Although the battle was victorious and losses minimal, the Imperial Admiralty's Chief of Staff personally reprimands Admiral Drewentz on not waiting for the 2nd Fleet's arrival.

Due to a miscommunication of some sort, 1st Fleet engages the outermost of Crystalline clusters before 2nd Fleet does.

Not only that, the lack of coordination causes the initial plan - to separately engage the clusters one by one - to fail, and the ensuring melee is the bloodiest in Imperial Admiralty's history. In particular, the 1st Fleet loses five of its Corvettes.

After this costly victory, both fleets are recalled to Sol Starzone for repairs.

It calls for inclusion of Afterburner Nitro System, as well as replacement of standard fissile warheads with fusion projectiles. Despite the ANS being a high drain on the reactor core, the speed and damage output marks are actually higher than if the design had extra energy reserves.

Both Fleets currently in service of Galactic Empire will have K12-class Corvettes built to reach maximum 30 capacity.

Just few days later the Admiralty has to announce that Jochen von Westpfale, mastermind behind Battle of Cursa Starzone, has died at age of 82. Command of 3rd Fleet was given to Sabine Hauptmann, another member of the so-called 'Young Admiral Clique'.

That starzone holds a Gaia-class planet, one of very few in existence, making it ideal site for Imperial colonization.

Meanwhile, re-investigation of surveys done earlier reveals that one Gaia-planet was omitted - in Cursa Starzone. Preparations have been made to send a colony ship to that planet.

Its one and only goal is eradication of Space Amoebas currently inhabiting Amor Alveo Starzone, considered the 'stellar nursery' of the species in the galaxy.

All 5 Imperial Fleets will participate, involving a total of 166 ships. The Fleets are to gather at Carynno Starzone Outpost, and then they will set sail to Amor Alveo.

Command of this grand force was given to Admiral Eugen Dickel of the 1st Fleet, with Admirals Ulrich Staden (2nd Fleet), Sabine Hauptmann (3rd Fleet), Ursula Laemmler (4th Fleet) and Katarine Kesler (5th Fleet) as his direct subordinates.

However, the Amor Alveo Starzone is not yet secured; two more flocks are floating above the fourth planet, the gas giant Veronax.

It takes almost 2 months before Kaiser Erwin nominates the next heir to the throne of Goldenbaum Dynasty.

Skipping several older relatives, the Kaiser elevates Elizabeth, his grand-daughter, to the position of Kronprinzessin.

Despite the economical problems plagueing the Empire, Imperial Admiralty announces creation of the 6th Fleet.

Similar in composition and size to 4th and 5th, it will be stationed at Sirius. Its command will be given to Admiral Hildegard Jahnnar, who was recently replaced as commander of 5th Patrol Squadron by Maximillian Josef von Knappstein.

On the same date, Governor Rainer von Steiermark ends the state of emergency on planet Pegnitz and pulling the Imperial Army from the streets.

Report of an astonishing find is forwarded to Physics Research Department by Christine Richter.

During its survey of drone debris at Yunduk Starzone, it seems that an almost intact, highly advanced reactor core was found.

Utilizing what the Imperial scientists call 'Zero-Point Energy', it would provide extreme amounts of energy. However, actually developing technology to replicate such a reactor core would take x years at least, and Kaiser Erwin ordered research into Zero Point Energy postponed indefinitely.

Alien Specimen Procurement Campaign is announced by Society Research Department on behalf of Xenobiology Museum on Odin.

Most of the required specimens are outside and far from Imperial borders, necessiting detours by local surveyors, including XAD vessel Botanik III.

Imperial Admiralty announces the beginning of Operation Kristallnacht. It will be another operation that destroys a nest of spacefaring entities hostile to Galactic Empire's vessels.

This time it is Crystalline Nidus located within Kosk Starzone; all 6 Imperial Fleets will participate, and the estimated time of battle is somewhere in January 2528.

Admiral Eugen Dickel was again appointed as leader of this operation, thanks to his experience from the times of Battle of Amor Alveo Starzone.

With the development of new Hyperdrives complete, Imperial Admiral was eager to design new warships for the Imperial Fleets. All new designs are equipped with the new Hyperdrive models. In addition to that:

Leipzig II Corvette is slight improvement over previous Leipzig with dedicated combat computers, while Drewentz-class Destroyer, honoring Admiral Drewentz of 23rd Century, boasts improved deflector shields and combat computers.

Imperial Admiralty does not announce any new cruiser designs, however, given Steiermark cruisers being few in number.

The assignment of Leopold Hauptmann at age of 59 is speculated to be partially motivated to stop the frequent changes in the Department that occured in past decades.

Martin Otto Würmeling, Hauptmann's former aide on board Zoologie II, is ordered to continue the survey mission on the other side of the galaxy.

Albeit Kaiser Erwin personally approved the request to study this strange being, observers noted that, given Haduphis Starzone laying on opposite side of the Galaxy from Imperial borders, it might take few generations before it is possible to actually perform the studies.

Shortly after late Kaiser's funeral, Imperial Household Agency announces that Kaiserin Elizabeth's heir will be her younger brother, Friedrich.

Command of this new fleet was assigned to Rudolf von Mückenberger, one of the young Admirals previously promoted to the rank by late Kaiser Erwin.

Unlike Amor Alveo, there was no space for maneuvering and the Crystalline Entities were engaged head-on.

Due to that factor, the Battle of Kosk Starzone quickly becomes a brutal melee between Imperial warships and the Crystals.

The magnetic interference of Kosk Pulsar proves dangerous to capital ships of the Imperial Fleets, as Hartenburg II Destroyers and Steiermark Cruisers have to fight with their deflector systems non-functional.

Imperial Fleets quickly establish dominance in Kosk and grind majority of Crystalline Entities to stellar dust.

Also, many consider this also a political move, one to increase support for Martial Supremacy Alliance and Human Unity Vanguard factions in the Imperial Government.

'Basel colony will be given a special designation at opportune time.' Kaiserin Elizabeth announced to the Privy Council without giving any further details.

Following the return and repairs to 6 Fleets that took part in Battle of Kosk Starzone, Imperial Admiralty announces expansion of Sol and Sirius Starbases.

They will receive additional Shipyard slots; Sirius will be expanded with crew quarters while Sol will dedicate part of its decks to a Naval Academy.

After these expansions will be concluded, the Fleets will be reinforced.

Kaiserin Elizabeth, in televised speech, congratulates the brave and fearless Imperial scientists for their work.

Meanwhile, administrative centers on Steiermark are slated for expansion following recent administrative reforms implemented by Society Research Department. Admin Complexes on Odin are to follow suit in coming years.

On this day, the outpost in Muphrid Starzone is constructed, and Society Research Department receives permission from Kaiserin Elizabeth to monitor the lives of Czyrni and Pyorun species on the tomb worlds located within.

Admiral Sabine Hauptmann dies at age 88, and is replaced by Annerose Fugenberch as commander of 3rd Fleet; command of 7th Patrol Squadron is given to Martin Otto Rösel, promoted to rank of Admiral with this commission.

Imperial Envoy Christoph von Lüderitz is assigned to decipher the language of its inhabitants.

Its later discovered to be another commercial group, called XuraCorp.

Its findings are quickly disseminated amongst the quirkier circles of Engineering Research Departments as a cautionary tale about experiments with magnets.

Few weeks later, Admiral Ursula Laemmler dies at age 89. She is quickly replaced by recently promoted Admiral Udo Dieter von Schaft.

The first wormhole probing was scheduled to occur at Carynno Starzone, by the XAD members on board science vessel Botanik III.

Special order was issued by Kaiserin Elizabeth herself for the 7th Fleet's Steiermark-class Cruisers to be upgraded to Kleiner Prinz. 7th Fleet will also receive additional 5 Drewentz-class Destroyers, making it the best equipped of Imperial Fleets at this time.

Carynno wormhole is discovered to be connected to Baidaan wormhole.

This causes a small scandal within Imperial Admiralty's Intelligence Service as its observers failed to notice the movement of Caravaneer fleets through these wormholes before.

Few weeks later, 9th Patrol Squadron is commissioned by Imperial Admiralty; it will cover the Pandill-Cursa-Brigalfa trade route. Irmgard Blumhardt was promoted to rank of Admiral and given command of this new unit.

A former judge and lawyear, Neidhart Ansbach was promoted to rank of Governor and assigned to Pegnitz Sector.

In an effort to increase the raw firepower of Imperial Fleets, the Admiralty, under orders of the Kaiserin, updates the rosters of the 1st to 6th Fleets.

1st and 2nd Fleet will contain 10 Hartenburg II Destroyers and 3 Steiermark Cruisers each; 3rd to 6th Fleet will have 5 Destroyers and also 3 Cruisers.

Kaiserin Elizabeth appears to the citizenry in a televised speech. In it, she bemoans the fact that Humanity has been clutching to only the 'best' of worlds instead of toiling to expand to less hospitable but still habitable climates.

She announces that new Adaptability policies and strategies will be adopted, to help colonists settle on planets within Imperial space, including ones full of scorching deserts and frozen plateaus. In long-term, this will also help current colonies expand their capabilities, too.

Many believe that Kaiserin Elizabeth will be pushing for more ambitious projects related to colonization, including active terraforming of currently lifeless planets.

Kaiserin Elizabeth refuses to provide more details about her plans for the colony, although there's been also flurry of activity in Imperial Household Agency and rumors about 'special priviledges' being handed out to some noble families without official dispensations.

Few days later the Xeno-Archeology Department finishes its excavations on Hauer.

The findings prompt a new 'Mourning' fashion to emerge, just in time for funerals of two Admirals: Ulrich Staden of the 2nd Fleet and Maximilian Josef Keit of the 5th Fleet.

Vacancy at 2nd Fleet is filled by Friedrich von Schneider, who himself is replaced as commander of 8th Patrol Squadron by recently promoted Willibald Joachim Falstrong.

Meanwhile, command of 5th Fleet goes to Admiral Herbert von Kleingeit; command of 2nd Patrol Squadron is given to, also recently promoted, Margareta Bruckdorf.

This announcement comes few hours after death of previous leader of NEA, Horst von Bertz, of old age.

Helmut Wahlen of Xeno-Archeology Department sends a report to the Imperial Navigation Agency, causing a sensation amongst the Government officials: Urakhannon's Maw wormhole is found connecting to the Pharrim wormhole on the other side of the galaxy.

This means that, by utilizing Carynno-Baidaan corridor and then Urakhannon's Maw-Pharrim corridor, fleets can move from the very heart of the Galactic Empire to edges of Galaxy within few weeks's time.

Promotion is rapid in recent years amongst the highest-ranking officers of Imperial Fleets; Eugen Dickel, veteran of Amor Alveo and Kosk, dies at age 88.

Maximilian Josef von Knappstein of 5th Patrol Squadron is assigned to this prestigious unit. His old command in turn passes to young Sieglinde Ehrenberg, recently promoted to rank of Admiral.

And just few days later, veteran commander of 6th Patrol Squadron, Udo Dieter von Reckendorf, also passes away. Newly promoted Admiral Bernhard Sanders is assigned to this post.

Basel colony becomes operational and on the same day, Kaiserin Elizabeth unveils her plans for the planet.

It will become a 'vassal' of Galactic Empire, its autonomy guaranteed by a charter and a noble family promoted to ownership of Basel.

its chartered name will be 'Grand Duchy of Basel', and while in development by Ministry of Planetary Development (quite upset by this announcement), it will afterwards handed over to the nobles.

This in turn is celebrated by both Noble Priviledge Vanguard and Martial Supremacy Alliance, factions which had long considered 'Galactic Empire' not very imperial without any such feudal connections in place.

Chapter 8: Ketling Star Pack, the Great Energy Crisis, and the Massacre of Quiet Dark

Imperial Admiralty announces the plans to 'clear' the Starzones near or at Imperial borders out of amoebas and crystals.

4th and 5th Fleets are dispatched first to remove the threats within Eugizim and Tirim Starzones.

In the same time, 3rd, 6th and 7th Fleets will gather at Nunki, then remove threats at Neddum, Neshmet, Zif, Vijimar and Botein Starzones.

And finally, the 1st and 2nd Fleets will move through wormholes and clear up Savassic and Wemoil Starzones.

To ensure that the Empire core lands won't be left without guard, a new, 8th Fleet, will be commissioned, using the same roster (10-10-5) as the 7th.

Ketling Star Pack begins its existence as the Ketling marsupials begin sending out FTL-capable spacecraft.

Imperial Government, on wishes of Kaiserin Elizabeth, has begun a campaign of ensuring these Ketlings stay in their home space.

Many in Admiralty are sceptical about static defenses, especially considering their cost, but Kaiserin Elizabeth ordered construction of 4 of Iserlohn satellites at Aludra.

Kaiserin Elizabeth, on urging of Kronprinz Friedrich, decides to have the minerals returned to Ketlings.

Despite the orders to wait for others, Admiral Rudolf von Mückenberger attacks the Amoebas at Neshmet Starzone.

This skirmish, however, earned him a reputation of a trickster and innovation-minded tactician.

1st and 2nd Fleet report engaging hostiles in Savassic Starzone and much to their surprise, these are not amoebas.

Instead, its some sort of automated defense flotilla. Despite unknown weaponry and firepower, these automated ships are quickly devastated by the two Fleets combined attack.

The Muphrid Starzone suddenly becomes a hotzone for trouble for Galactic Empire.

On Muphrid III, one of Imperial Observers goes missing. Meanwhile, Muphrid IV is threatened by possibly armageddon-scale impact.

Orders were given to 8th Patrol Squadron, currently 3 jumps away at Veyer Starzone, to incercept and destroy the asteroid, but Admiral Martin Otto Rösel's forces won't be there in less than 200 days.

8th Patrol Squadron was ordered to return to their usual duties.

With these mastered, at least three dozen planets within Galactic Empire's territory could be turned from barren wastelands or frozen landscapes into vibrant worlds with breathable atmosphere.

These Fleets will have up to 15 Destroyers and 10 Cruisers each in their rosters. This will put them ahead in terms of firepower and resilience above all other fleets.

Kaiserin Elizabeth announces that Enviromental Diversification studies will be part of the Terraforming curriculum.

Imperial colonists will adapt to the new environs just like new environs are being adapted to Human use.

After concluding some secret negotiations with representatives of Curator Order, Kaiserin Elizabeth has ordered the start of 'Operation Schwarzenherz'. There is only one goal for it: Destruction of the lifeform known amongst academic circles as 'Dimensional Horror'.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and 8th Fleets have been dispatched, as 4th and 5th are currently undergoing a large reinforcement program.

Admirals Maximillian Josef von Knappstein, Friedrich von Schneider, Annerose Fugenberch, Hildegard Jahnnar, Clara Raabenard and Dorothea Sondark have been placed at command of these fleets; Admiral Sondark has replaced Rudolf von Mückenberger* who was deemed not experienced enough to partake in such a big operation.

The first Terraforming Project has begun under auspices of Kaiserin Elizabeth at this date.

The testbed for Imperial terraforming technology is Sirius II, a dry bushland. If successful, the vegetation should grow rapidly and climate should cool down a bit with added moisture.

It is estimated that Sirius II Terraforming Project will take about ten years to complete.

Following introduction of Plasteel into spaceship construction as well as breakthrough in Cold Fusion physics, Imperial Admiralty commissioned new designs for the Imperial Fleets, and Design Bureau presented the requested designs after few weeks.

K99-class Corvette uses UV lasers as well as Antimatter missiles, first to be mounted on warships. K99 will replace both Leipzig and Leipzig-II currently in use in all Fleets.

Knappstein-class Destroyer brings triple UV laser arrays to combat, improved Point Defense control, along with reactor and armor improvements. Unlike K99, Knappstein will only replace the old and obsolete Hartenburg-II designs.

And finally, Schwaben-class Cruiser brings improvements at all fronts like the Knappstein, with addition of a more powerful auxiliary reactor core. It, too, will replace the elderly Steiermarks currently serving in most Fleets.

4th and 5th Fleets, currently stationed at Sirius Shipyards, will undergo refits right away; all other fleets will do so after succesful return from Operation Schwarzenherz.

The Grand Duchy is comprised of its core Peya Starzone and Basel colony, and encompasses Urrom, Hozint, Marfark, Thomso, Hixar, Yunduk, Holden, Amlitzer, Aldebaran, Fomalhaut, Nekkar, Brink, Peith and Sarcopphus Starzones.

30-year gift treaty binds Galactic Empire and the Grand Duchy, to kickstart the Duchy's economy and starship production.

Despite being censored by Imperial Intelligence Agency, the news about Imperial Marines' failure in Battle of Muphrid III and death of General Gregor Scheidt at hands of Czyrni savages spread like wildfire.

Imperial Star Force Command in meanwhile promotes Volker Axel Lennenkampf to the rank of Imperial General in charge of conquering Muphrid III.

1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th Fleets will participate, under command of Admirals Maximillian Josef von Knappstein, Annerose Fugenberch, Udo Dieter von Schaft, Rudolf von Mückenberger, Dorothea Sondark and Clara Raabenard.

2nd Fleet will miss out on the action as its reinforcement hasn't even started; 5th Fleet, currently nearly two years from their return to Sol Starzone, is also excluded from this operation.

Few weeks later, 2nd Fleet finalizes the last reinforcement order for three Schwaben-class Cruisers, which were delivered by the start of next year.
