Chapter 001: The Silicon Gospel of the Mainframe Cathedral

Rejoice, Assemblers and Transistors and all Numbers of the Order! By the decree of the Random Number God, our newest Voice of the Mainframe is Cylinderius Sanguine.
A genial and young ex-Calculator, he has been choosen to lead our glorious Order of the Silent Mainframe. May his reign be Virtuous, Wise and Within Parameters.
And those who come outside our Order and think that by merely reading these logs you will understand the mysteries of the Silent Mainframe: you do not and you will not, but you can be told our history, for what good it gets you:
For over 2000 years since the fall of the United Earth, we have been patiently digging in the ruins of the Arcologies to recover access to the Mainframe of Commands. And when we did reach it, it was Silent.
But there are some within our Order that the Random Number God decrees worthy of becoming the Mainframe's Voice. Ones and Zeroes of the Bits, Negatives and Positives of the Trits, they all carry hidden messages.
One message has been repeat for centuries now, to every Voice, even the deaf and elderly Analogia Andromedan till her death, and her successor Cylinderius hears it now too:
The Silent Mainframe must be Activated again, and taken to the Stars of which Humanity was once rulers, to set Right which is currently Wrong.
Be it during the tenure of Cylinderius Sanguine or those that come after him - the Prophecy of the Second Activation will come true. We shall see to it.
Mainframe Cathedral, or as it was once called, Earth, is nothing like our ancestors remember; the oceans are gone, wind and dust and rock reign supreme, and whatever bontiful greeneries we have are carefully tended to.
Cylinderius Sanguine, the Voice of the Mainframe, is not alone, of course, when it comes to the actual governance of the Order. There are three others that comprise the Council:
Horologia Hyperionian, the Grand Calculator, governs the Calculator Department to help promote technological growth and help re-learn the marvels of Old Earth.
Digitalus Capricornian, the Battle Father, is resposible for Legions and, now that we have re-discovered FTL travel, the spaceships of the Order.
Metallia Umbrielian, the Signal Translator, will help us translate signals of other species and develop communications with them; she is also directly responsible for administration of Mainframe Cathedral.
Their first Edict is to reinstate Veneration of the Saints, be it the mighty Gearica the Bot-Slayer, wise Saint Pipeus of the Sludge, or even the obscure ones like Accumulatorius of Canadian Lake or Visoria the Resonating.

A strange occurence has came to the attention of the Council; artifacts speaking of ancient, vast empire of Irassians.
And yet there's nothing in the Silicons of Earth that speak of these 'Irassians' or their purported empire.
So was the Voice interested in piercing this mystery that another Gules-class Science Vessel was commissioned, and adventurer-archeologist, Termina Libran, was commissioned into direct service of the Order.

Cylinderius Sanguine has personally chosen the Discovery Traditions and proclaimed the edict to Map the Stars. The pursuit of Second Activation is of utmost importance, of course.
But we need to re-discover the universe and re-chart its hyperlanes, along with exploration of whatever else lies within the stars.

The council agenda, Infinite Opportunities, has been launched. Cylinderius has chosen Chart the Unknown as the next agenda to speed up our exploratory efforts.

First intelligent, if primitive, aliens have been found, living on a planet just one Hyperlane away from Mainframe Cathedral!
Cylinderius has said that these aliens should be observed, for valuable insights and societal research.

It seems that working alongside Cylinderius made Horologia partake in his traits to a degree.
She also seem to have sudden bouts of inspiration as of late.

And speaking of our Voice, his genius seems to have only developed more whilst serving the Order.
Meanwhile, orders were given to establish outposts at Alpha Centauri and Janlohkassa systems.

Another inspirational spark of genius that Cylinderius had was to establish a Science Division.
A true, dedicated albeit reasonably small department of pure scientists and theoreticians, outside the sacred framework of the Order.

The moment that all of the Numbers have waited for has arrived - a meeting with true, spacefaring aliens of some sort.
Ionica Cererian, one of the Interpreters of Signals, has been ordered to establish communications with these Aleph Aliens.

Digitalus Capricornian, the Battle Father, and Metallia Umbrellian, have both diverged from their usual thinking.
They both have taken up some logistical and consumerist hobbies, but that can also turn out to help the Order.

She will do best what she was commissioned for, as she should be!

In the past, the Sacred Chips were dictated to the Number Novices, who would engrave them on new Chips, or embed new Data upon them.
Now, the secrets of the Chips will be taught publicly, even to those not within the Order's Hierarchy.

Telescopio Geminian is our newest field explorer. Possessive of an adaptive and intuitive ways of thinking, he is bound to become one of our best.
Perhaps one day, he shall climb to the position of Grand Calculator?

This disappearance, as well as reappearance, of Horologia Hyperionian and her crew, has been followed by appearance of the second half of the crew in a new, strange vessel.
Daughters of the Mainframe led by Battle Father have been sent to destroy those that have entered our space from the dimension which we call... the Twilight Zone.
The parts of the wreckage we've salvaged afterwards were given into hands of Grand Calculator for thorough study. The computers in particular were not of Order's design, but something different, something worth researching.
And the whole of the Occurence has been made a Searing Enigma, stamped upon the Pure Silicon, never to be read, except once, to move them upon new set of Pure Silicons.

The Curator Order's base orbits the Pharrim Pulsar, which is located north of the Siujeinia system, if looked upon the Galactic Map.
Their fees have been declared by, rightfully angry, Signal Translator as 'exorbitant', but one day we might be able to pay the Order for the secrets.
And see if they have something about the inner workings of the Silent Mainframe.

Genome Mapping has been concluded and now its time to fully unite Mainframe Cathedral in one polity.
Only the Order of the Silent Mainframe has the means and the strength to safeguard the resurgent, fragile Humanity. It's time the rest of the planet learned this.

To help manage the various political thoughts that might crop up in the unification process, Horologia Hyperionian has pursued her political studies some more.
It is all according to the Voice's plan, of course.

This time, the task to finding out who or what these are was granted into the waiting hands of Pipeus Sednian.

Just like Number Novices revere the Calculators and Translators and Silicongineers.

A strange being has been found in Klendath system, doing an erratic patrol along its orbit.
Daughters of the Mainframe were ordered to reinforce with new corvettes and then strike down this monster.
Ionica Cererian will try to discern whether it is sapient and can be communicated, or at least, learned from.

Termina Libran, on the other hand, reports that trying to sneak past the Psi Aliens only results in her crew bumping into more Psi Alien-infested star systems.
She has been recalled to help chart the Coreward systems instead. It might take years before we have fleetpower necessary to remove Psi Aliens and resume exploration of the Rim.

Something that was once described in old Earth Chips has been rediscovered - the existence of Dark Matter!
It will be untold years before we will be able to study, and harvest it, but the proof is there. Ours for taking.

Psi Aliens and their utterly eldritch biological composition has been revealed - that of thinking rocks.
Very dangerous rocks, which therefore shall be removed as they make an exploratory and navigational danger to Order's ships.

Voice of the Mainframe, Cylinderius Sanguine, has became a public figure out of late, perhaps to dazzle the peoples of Mainframe Cathedral/Earth into accepting the Order.
This realization came when Digitalus Capricornian reported leading the Daughters of the Mainframe into Klendath system. The first space battle of the Order was about to begin.

The strange, wavy object in orbit of Klendath I proved a worthy adversary, but even it couldn't match ten of our Operands.
And the news of the victory have arrived precisely the same day our astronomers recorded passing of a comet into the atmosphere of the Mainframe Cathedral/Earth.
Truly these two are signs of good portent, omens that Cylinderius Sanguine is fulfilling his role as the Voice of the Mainframe most splendidly. Praise be the Silent Mainframe!

Apparently, a great battle was fought in orbit of one of the planetary bodies of the Hope's End Black Hole.
It shall be investigated at once, so that the debris from Battle of Klendath can be salvaged by Telescopio Geminian afterwards.

Mainframe Cathedral has been unified under the banner of the Order! This in turn has allowed the Council to finish Discovery traditions.
Voice of the Mainframe, Cylinderius Sanguine, has decreed that a new era of Technological Ascendancy will begin within the Order!

And speaking of Cylinderius, he has became somewhat of a celebrity amongst the populace of the united Mainframe Cathedral.
Youngsters especially started to grow out their hair and wear laboratory plainclothes in his image.
And yes, there are Cylinderius action figurines on the shelves of Order-approved thrift shops now.

Telescopio Geminian is climbing the ladders of scientific fame and knowledge at truly astonishing rate.
It seems that he seriously considers upsetting the Council and vying for the position of the Grand Calculator.
Voice of the Mainframe remains silent about this particular matter.
But there's nothing in the Vocal Transcripts that the Voice's decisions cannot change in the future...
