Boat, just to have every base, land, sea, air. I'd vote for any boat design.

My first issue with the iron is the need for a steam core. I'd prefer a regular artillery weapon to start with.

Do you mean the 'Waffle Iron'? It's not a steam core weapon, if that's what you mean. It's a standard artillery piece with recoil dampening and packaged shell+powder ammunition.

The "Rebel Slayer" really needs metallic cartridges to work, unless you'd like an artillery piece using some demented form of needle-gun action (which uses paper cartridges)...which might even work, I guess? It'd certainly be interesting. The main thrust behind the weapon at present is to provide repeating firepower (that doesn't require manual reloading) to the mech, and so the principle issue with anything less than a metallic cartridge is that needle actions or some demented weapon using separate percussion caps would all be less reliable, and a jam would require somebody to climb out on top of the mech in order to clear it. And needle-guns have lots of problems with breaking the actual needles.

If those who are presently voting for it are OK with it, then I guess I can just swap in paper cartridges with the primer inside them and use a needle action.

It doesn't have to be perfect. I wouldn't want to create something unusable, but if it's a bit unreliable at times, that's fine. The important thing is to leave room to grow, without growing out of the steampunk setting. Also, I believe that Chief said at some point that metallic cartridges would be rather challenging, so a more rudimentary solution might end up more reliable.

Fair enough. Metallic cartridges just make so many interesting mechanical options available that paper cartridges just...don't. It seems like metallic cartridges would give us a lot of options to do weapons that can actually be meaningfully powered by steam instead of requiring somebody to manually reload them.

Explicitly not. Look at the name of the game. Is it called Diesel Empire? This is Steampunk, and attempts to go beyond that will not be tolerated, per the GM.

I still don't want to support the IAPACS because it still uses mail armor. That is so amazingly unnecessary when wearing plate thick enough to stop bullets, and adds zero defense against bullets and, because of the thick plates, zero extra defense against bladed weapons (which already won't be getting through).

Fix that, and I would be perfectly happy to vote for the other power armor.
