"There is no need to worry yourself about the lifespan of this cat here. It may yet have lives to spare, if the Crystals have willed it so."

"A cat. . .?" No. It couldn't be. Viverna shook her head.

"This is growing tiresome." The large woman took a step forward and heaved the door open, peering into the darkness with eyes like sapphire. "Please do not do anything foolish."

"Perhaps someone painted it over as a pra-" Before Claus could continue his attempt at persuading the guard captain to go in (especially once a voice inside tried to beckon them, making Claus all the more suspicious), Viverna was already going in. "Ah. Well then." Claus followed Viverna posthaste. "As she said— It would be among one of your worst ideas to attack her or myself." He wasn't expecting the prisoners to get his ingeniously given hint, but went in nonetheless.

As Viverna opened the door, the old woman was motionless against the wall, just as she was when the prisoners first entered the room. Difficult to tell from a corpse... but something wasn't right. The air coming from the chamber seemed impossibly thick, as if it was ready to choke you for trying to breathe it, as if some sort of... dreadful presence had seeped into every corner of the room, as if from nowhere... no. The prisoners could tell where this presence came from. The old woman's silhouette seemed to expand beyond what her body possibly could be.

"I bet you feel rather foolish for thinking that there would not be a corpse in here... Actually, something's telling me that this isn't a corpse miasma filling this air. Oh dear, this is not good for my lungs."

Such pressure... To think someone like this, she reminds me of..

The pressure this woman is giving off, there are only a few cases where he has felt something similar. This woman is not as weak as she seems.

Akira's eyes widened a little as he felt the old woman's dreadful aura seemed to spread throughout every corner of the room from her seemingly dead body. The sight enough to make him wonder if the 'old woman' was ever truly alive to begin with. Still though, he couldn't let this chance go to waste, assuming that's why the old woman was even pulling this neat trick at least. He slowly stood up to his feet, taking the chance to try and glance as far outside of the cell as he could manage, before he said.
: "Coughs. I don't think there's any point in begging a corpse to stop fouling the air. Best to get rid of her before the stench claims us all."

Blodeuyn for her part did her best to not show any change on her face as she felt the old women give out that aura. She wasn't going to get let this chance go.

"Yeah hurry hurry, I'm about vomit."

"Unless your afraid of an old ladies corpse and going let some kids show you up." she said to the group at the door.

Blodeuyn's bluff did seem to work on one of the younger guards, at least.

"I'm a trained killer! I could handle corpses just fine!"

"Don't let her get to you."

"Tiresome, tiresome," Viverna muttered under her breath, then walked properly into the room. The miasma was disregarded entirely. "We are weak, yet the 'proper soldiers' cannot even deliver food properly." She shook her head.

"Astute observation, Viverna," Claus said, nodding at Viverna while looking around the cage. "Once again, I do have to question the quality of prisoners. The cat was one thing and I'm still wondering why there's a cat here, but also there's a young girl?" Claus blinked at Blodeuyn. "Are you sure you're of a legal age to be imprisoned? And you?" Claus went up to Djedre, only barely minding personal space as he looked her over. "Are you not a noblewoman? Or a knight? You certainly look like the type who could simply buy your way out of prison or at the very least justify... Mmm. I wish I had nice hair like yours. My hair just sticks up all the time. That's why I wear this hat." As he called attention to his hat by readjusting it, Claus looked over at the 'corpse,' putting a hand over his mouth. "Mmmf. Old woman too? I guess a few of you could look like criminals enough, but combined with the Lucid Crystal, these are not the kind of people I'd expect to be prisoners. Something tells me there's more than meets the eye here. You wouldn't arrest a group despite them not breaking the law, would you?" Claus said, casually turning his back on the prisoners to look at the guards with a curious look. "Would you?"

Anvidar cracks an eyelid open at the cat. This is likely the best chance they have. And this person isn't likely to have much physical strength.

May the Phoenix protect me in my travels.

Arvidar lunges up to grab the red-clothed boy and drag him back, his gun barrel moving to underneath their chin.

Alight! the barrel begins to glow red as if a shot is going to occur. This should cause enough panic.

Claus barely even notices as he's grabbed and dragged back. He just blinks a few times at the gun barrel, then looks up at the guards with the most unamused expression he possibly could muster— at least with his normally neutral face.

"Really? You didn't disarm the prisoners? This prisoner has a gun and you didn't think to disarm them? This is the most unorganized, lazily designed prison I've ever seen. Granted, I haven't seen many prisons, but I really hope that this isn't normal procedure." Claus sighed. "Please stop that, I know you may be criminals but this is hardly necessary. Especially when I am technically allowed to exert the same sort of brutality that the guards engage in. Apologies, but you asked for this." To punctuate his sentence, Claus flexed his fingers and prepared to hold the muzzle of the gun as his fingers crackled with electricity... but stopped once he caught Viverna out of the corner of his eye. He figured that'd be a more interesting punishment.

Viverna wordlessly turned as soon as she heard the movement behind her. Just as the muzzle reached Claus, it was abruptly snatched away 0- along with the holder. The mage-in-training lifted Arvidar by his neck and slammed him against the wall, staring at him with a burning hatred. Her grip tightened about his throat just far enough to leave him with the breath to speak.

"Explain yourself. Or I will crush you."
