I say we power slash the king cobra and get it out of the way first.

I'm not sure what kind of health these snakes have, but I think Counter! might be more efficient.

Counter!

Much as I'd like to hit all three serpents at once, taking out The King sounds possibly wiser. Even if it has enough HP to survive, we're probably better off wittling them down one at a time than trying to wear them all down evenly.

Trence uses Power Slash!
Cobra King is wounded! (badly wounded)

The Cobra King strikes out fiercely!

It bites Trence on the side!
He takes 4 damage.

The two Striped Serpents strike out!

They catch Trence twice, biting shallowly and injecting their venom.
Trence takes no damage and no damage.
Trence is poisoned, x2.

Trence takes no damage from the poison.

"Hang on Trence!" shouts Willis, from outside.  You hear the sound of him readying a Meteor Swarm.

Now facing: One purple-hued Cobra King (badly wounded), and two red-and-green Greater Striped Serpents

I think now will be the time to use counter and also get away from the wall near Willis.

Try to dissuade Willis by shouting that you're fine and the snakes are harmless. Move away from the wall.

"Please don't, Willis, they're too weak to hurt me!"

Also slash the king cobra again if we have time, but combat isn't the priority here.

And you hear the whining noise start to ring down.

"Okay Trence, but you let me know the moment something bad happens!"

Trence uses Slash!
Cobra King is wounded! (almost dead)

...

You clean up nicely, taking only another 9 damage from the next two Cobra King attacks, finishing with a Counter in the next round of battle.  It seems the striped serpents are weak to lightning.

You also acquire yet more poison, and are now Poisoned x4, Badly Poisoned x1.  It doesn't go away at the end of the battle, either.  I mean, you aren't taking any damage, although it does feel a bit odd.. should you do something about it?

The snakes drop some fairly non-descript snake scales, so nothing better than your existing loot.

As soon as the encounter is over, the bars slide back up, and Willis comes in, spells at the ready.  There's nothing to shoot at, however, and the far door seems okay.

The chest is still there, too.  If you want to take a look inside, one of you is going to have to open it.

We might want to use the antidote herbs to get rid of the poison if that's what they're for.

Also have Willis open the chest.

Trence opens the chest, Willis stays outside.

Those wall-faces are not to be trusted.

Don't know about curing the poison. It could well have undesirable side-effects, but I suspect we're about to get more poisoned presently.

Trence opens the chest!

..and finds something you two can actually carry.  Huh.  Two potions.  It's not much, but this seemed a bit low-level.

Two potions gained

The door to the south opens up on an intersection.  A medium-length hallway runs south, with branches splitting off to the east and west.  At the end, the path curves eastwards.

You don't see any snakes.

Lets head south then into that eastward path.

Works for me! To be honest, I've given up trying to second-guess the layout.

A trap!  The two of you stumble upon a pressure plate, and a bunch of crossbow bolts fly down from the ceiling.  Both of you are struck repeatedly, although your armour protects you from most of the damage.  Trence takes 4 damage and Willis takes 3.

..The bolts were poisoned, and although Trence doesn't notice much difference, Willis is certainly feeling it, and takes an additional point of damage.

The plate also seems to cover the whole of the intersection, and while it's pressed down now, you don't know if it resets.  Uh oh.

Let's go to the left and see what's behind that door.
