Wait, what kind of clothes are we wearing? Would the fancy clothes fit us?

Get sidetracked picking out an optimal outfit. Stylish, but within acceptable ranges for freedom of movement, and preferably protective.

You stare into the glass eye.  It makes you feel.. uneasy, and a bit dizzy, but after a minute it doesn't seem to be getting any worse, so it isn't hurting you, you think?

You also figure out that this is the Thaumlator.  The glass eyes is weird, a clear orb in some kind of gray metal setting, mostly one colour, but you can see bands and dots of other things deep inside.

It's creepy.

Abandoning that, time to go play dressup.  You've got a bunch of choices..  You are currently wearing a pretty simple shirt and pants.

What colour appeals to you?

You put on a robe that's a lovely shade of green, some large boots, (for some reason, you were shoeless), along with a scarf.  Unfortunately there are only a couple of hats, which are the wrong colour.

Now dressed up, it's time to go face the world!  Or maybe the kitty!

Are we not supposed to be shoeless inside of a home? Do we recall?

Go face kitty. Offer the meat.

Who cares, playing.  And nobody said you couldn't!

You head to the next room, a storeroom in search of kitty.  And this room is so interesting, there's boxes and bags and chests everywhere, and probably all kinds of cool stuff in them.  For now, there's kitty, standing on top of a box which is perched on top of a couple of cloth-covered old paintings.

Seeing the meat makes kitty calm down a bit, being less scared of you and more interested in the food.  Maybe this isn't for kitty?  Who cares, feeding kitty.

A few minutes later, you have the (fluffy!) cat on the floor besides you, purring and rubbing against you all over, while you pet it.  Yay!

You're Waris Sorvil, and you're on your way home after a long day of.. well, not much of anything, just thinking.  You did manage to acquire a few bottles of local wine, which should go down well over the next few weeks.

Upon opening the front door, however, everything changes.  The statue is gone.  You thought this could happen, but not for many more weeks, and you didn't fully believe it would actually work!

The room is a mess, papers everywhere, and footprints all over them, and you run about trying to find it.. find him.  He has to be in here, he has to be.

The kitchen, messy, flour on the floor, a couple of broken pots about, pantry door hanging open with stuff all moved about

The bedroom, clothes strewn about and the wardrobe open..  and that leaves only the storeroom.. and that door is closed.

Nervously, you approach it, worried about what you might find there.  Or not find.

You see a human child, about ten or eleven, sitting on the floor, playing with Maxamillion, petting the cat softly.  Dressed up in a large soft, green robe.

"Thank you" you whisper.

Chapter 1 Complete.

It's been three years since you woke up, and life has been pretty good.

Uncle, as you've been calling him is pretty nice.  He makes a living by finding old enchanted items or cursed ground or such and collecting the old spells off them.  Sometimes it's useful, sometimes he's just paid to dispose of trash or dangerous items, and sometimes he cleans up valuables to sell off to other people.

That was where he found you.  You were a statue, in some long-abandoned mansion, half buried in the wilderness.  He said he only found you through his new detector, which detected the spell that turned you to stone.  So, you were brought back to his house and the curse was lifted, and you're now fine.

And.. that made a few problems.  You see, you don't find people like that.  When people get turned to stone for a long time, they pretty much just die.  And you've been in stone a long time.  He's not sure, but he thinks that mansion was abandoned over a hundred years ago.

Still, life has been better.  There's all sorts of fun stuff around to play with, old weapons, armour, furniture, and Maxamillion the cat is lots of fun.  There's a bit of woods behind the house to explore, with beavers and all kinds of wildlife.  The neighbors are mostly nice, although most of them are farmers and are often pretty busy.

As for what you've been doing, Uncle has been trying to keep you busy.  He's put in a lot of vegetable garden, and it's your job to dig it out, weed it, and keep the plants watered.  It's not the most interesting thing, but since you managed to pick up the rain barrel, it doesn't take too long.

Other chores, you can help out during harvest season, with the neighbors being mostly farmers.  A couple times you've caught stray livestock, when you find something being off in the woods and bring it back to whoever owns it.  That's mostly been good, except the time when you got angry at a goat that just didn't stop running, and was sitting on a cliffside, and when you finally did get in reach of it, it just died.

But the best part of life here is Willis Naver.  He comes out to the village during the summer, and the two of you get to play together.  He's the only local kid who can keep up with your adventures, and always is up for having fun.  There's always something new to do, some new place to go, some new toy or game to play with, and since he spends half his time in the big city, he's always got fun stuff from there.

And Willis is coming back in just a few days!  You should get something ready.  You could go looking for something in the village, or in the woods.  Or you could check out the storeroom and try to find something fun in there.  Uncle's been busy this year and has headed out lots of times.

Storeroom, obviously. We've been everywhere in the woods and village hundreds of times.
