What do the different colours on the biome map mean?
« on: September 14, 2020, 11:38:22 pm »

Hi all,

I'm new to the bay 12 forums but have been playing dwarf fortress on and off for quite a while (although I suck at it).

As you all probably know, you can export a biome map from legends mode. My question is, does anyone know what each colour corresponds to in the biome map?

I exported this biome map (below) from my world, and I believe it has 29 unique colours, or at least that's what I got by converting the RGB values to a colour map using my GIS program.

Is there anywhere where I can find which RGB values correspond with which biomes?
Something like R 20, B 60, G 200 = Conifer forest (made up example).

Here is the biome map I'm dealing with:

In the main DF directory (i.e. the same one the biome map is in), you'll find a file named "biome_color_key.txt".

Really hoping somebody puts this in their signature.
