Will Characters Figure Out My Beast Kills For Themselves Over Time?

When I am asking them about whereabouts of a titan I just slained they mention that I did this even if I haven't told them yet. Is this a bug? Do they learn it for themselves over time if I won't speak about my achievements?

Does anybody know how to become an elephant man in adventure mode? I literally did all advanced world settings possible to increase chances.

Yes, rumours spread naturally.
Faster if you spread them yourself. Not sure of the exact mechanics, but eventually everything becomes common knowledge
