You are a hacker, like your mother before you. You, like your mother before you, do hacker stuff. You’ve found friends whom also do hacker stuff. You and your friends made, like, an ultra cool private hacker zone where you can all do hacker stuff in peace, away from those less cool hackers whom do hacker stuff with less flare and pizzazz and also happen to be rivals of yours, which has nothing to do with said less flare and pizzazz.

Anyway, you’ve just learned that your noticeably less cool rivals have also made a super-secret hacker clubhouse of their own, and are planning on declaring war on you, taking over the internet, tracing your friends back to your hacker zone, and breaking in and taking it over.

And then never letting you forget that they’re officially better then you.

You can’t have that, right? No, it’s time to roll up your gloves, put your army boots on, and show them who’s top hacker in da internets.

Or else you’ll have to flee in shame and change your internet name until everyone forgets about this in the next year or so, which it totally forever.

So, it’s time to go to war. Or almost time at least. There’s going to be three turns as both sides posture at and insult each other as they work up to this, three turns to do designs and revisions so you have some hacker pride and possess more then the bog standard baby programs all hackers worth their name have and even some non-hackers have.

More importantly, there’s going to be three contests you have to do. Here’s the first.

Starting Contest : Who The Hell Do They Think You Are?

Actually, no, who are you? You can’t just keep calling yourself Hacker Group Side A forever, and you’ve assuredly got some cool history or legacy, right?

For this contest, you need to write up who you and your hacker friends are and what cool name you all decided to name yourself in between arguments on if 11:45PM brain or 1:45PM brain is best brain at midnight.

You have until the start of Turn -B to finish this contest. The winning submission will be copied to the core thread.

Longshadow.exe
A cryptic variant of the minion.exe, the Longshadow is a supporting cast member with a unique ability: it can merge with the digital shadow of another viri. Doing so reduces the dimensionality of the Longshadow program significantly, making it extremely difficult to detect or directly target with weapon attacks. When the host is engaged, the longshadow functions as an interceptor. Armed with a single null-pointer edged saber, the Longshadow.exe can emerge from the host's digital shadow to make lightning-fast slashes at incoming projectiles or targets within melee range. The null-pointer saber is capable of completely deleting light projectiles and inflicting severe damage to viri, but can be overwhelmed by fire from multiple sources. Like the minion.exe it was developed from, the Longshadow.exe is also very stupid, and (unless attached to a commander) will show little sense of target prioritization, lashing out at whatever projectile or viri happens to enter range first.

If the host is killed or damaged, the Longshadow is destroyed or damaged in mirror fashion. Once the Longshadow has bonded to another Viri, it's locked there until the end.

Battlechip: Codespace Hyperclock
This tactical chip of the Celerity line briefly forced priority hyper-streaming to the L1 and L2 buffers of the local digital space - effectively creating a bubble of distortion in which clock cycles (the relative passage of time) happens much more quickly. Anything within the sphere of influence feels normal, but observes those outside appearing heavily distorted and moving much more slowly - while those outside the sphere see those inside as rapidly moving blurs. Projectiles impacting the bubble experience extreme deflection based on the principles of Lewis-Stanli cycle decoherence making it essentially impossible to shoot in or out of a sphere.

While one might think that their symmetric effect on enemy and ally as well as their relative isolation makes the spheres pointless, in the hands of a skilled commander they can allow a group breathing space to meet unexpected odds, provide a critical moment to plan, or to isolate trap a group of foes in with your forces while their companions are temporally cut off. While one could also use the Hyperclock spheres to generate cover, they're generally considered to be much too costly and difficult to set up to be used for such a trivial purpose.

Battlechip: Haze
This strategic battlechip is a cryptic design, creating a nebulous pulse of meta-stable code fragments that propagate to loosely fill a space based on a cellular automata powered growth algorithm. The effect is that, once used, the Haze chip fills a large area with a fine mist of data-fragments which alternate in glimmering and darkening portions in accordance with the rules of Conway's Game of Life. In a glimmering section of Haze, allied units are slightly buffed with increased senses while enemies are slightly distracted with the glimmery data-frags. Darkening portions of haze slightly drain the energy from enemy units, making them move and react more slowly, while allied units are inversely slightly buffed.

Whistler.exe
A nonhumanoid program, each whistler is a disc about the size and shape of a manhole cover. Relatively robust in form, the Whistler carries no weapons and relies on an erratic flightpath and evasion to stay alive. On contact with the enemy, the Whistler immediately spins up to full speed, emitting a characteristic wail of sound, and begins projecting an array of images across the virtu-scape. Advertisements, newsreel section, holograms of friendly viri, spoilers from tv shows, memes (so many memes) all blasted in full color and chaos.

In this, the Whistler serves two roles. One, it is a scout, immediately alerting friendlies to the presence of enemies. Two, it is incredibly distracting to the enemy, both by drawing their gaze with distractions (more effective against the intelligent) and in the form of creating crude projections of friendly viri for them to shoot at (more effective against the stupid).

Striker.exe
An advanced melee combat unit, the Striker resembles a very skeletal robot, with bright jets of data behind it for propulsion. Its main thing is speed, and its tick speed siphoning ability. On its own the thing is still rather fast, but it has the ability to divert processing power from the area around it onto itself, effectively increasing the amount of time it experiences by raising its clock cycle speed, and slowing everything around it as their cycle speed is lowered. Little is ever seen of it in this state, though it can only maintain it in short bursts. Thanks to slowing down incoming attacks it is incredibly hard to hit in this state, especially since its so fast and will try to dodge the incoming attacks. For armaments it possesses advanced melee code in the form of deadly claws that can rip apart low level viri with little issue.
Behavior wise they are designed to be smarter and more independent than the basic minions, but they pay for this in finesse in most cases, they are good for hunting down and killing things on their own, but it's hard to order around in formations or to make them hit a target more specific than "Everything hostile in this general area". They are attack dogs, pure and simple.

Battlechip: Stunbolt
An offensive tactical Battlechip, Stunbolt is an early foray into elemental effects for us. It's effect is simple: it fires a quick bolt of electricity that, while not incredibly damaging, is capable of stunning whatever it hits for a short amount of time; allowing a savvy operator to easily take the upper hand in a fight.

Elemental chip because we're getting an action to design a hacker next turn, and the experience in electrical elemental damage could be useful in Minion.exe upgrades and new viruses to replace the Minion.

4 + 4 - 1 = 7 : Superior craftsmanship (Hard)

The additional effort needed for breaking in to elemental effects prevents the Stunbolt from being a true masterpiece, but it is still an effective and versatile battlechip. When queued it creates a short-term capacitor program that charges with spare electrical energy from the local substrate which is then released as an offensive blast when the chip is triggered. Besides just doing damage the amount of electricity channeled will also take a few moments to finish discharging back into the local systems through whomever it hit, paralyzing them for a short period of time as they are used as a grounding rod. It is, however, like all lightning effects, less effective against 'wood' natured enemies or abilities which have additional grounding capacity that prevents the electricity from effecting them overmuch.

The Stunbolt is a Simple tactical Battle Chip, and has a memory size of 1.

It is now the Revision Phase. During this phase you must vote on what revision to do to your current assets. As well, remember to discussion, post, and vote on contest write ups.

Elecminion.exe
Building off our success with the Stunbolt chip, Elecminion.exe is an implementation of the Elec element into our minions to increase their effectiveness, particularly against Aqua elemental enemies. Just ignore their lessened usefullness against the Wood element. To be more precise, it tries to give Elec elemental resistances to the base Minion.exe while also making the pistol's bolts Elec element if we still have time afterwards.

Swordy.exe
An alternative upgrade to the base minion, Swordys exchange the dinky little pistol normal Minion.exe has for a sword. This drastically increases their coolness factor. Oh, and it also makes them better at close quarters combat I guess.

Minion.EXE Armor:
Upgrade our Minion.EXE viri with armor which reduces their susceptibility of being hacked or destroyed by other viri.

Who The Shit Are We?

Hackergroup: The Circle of M'Lady

Greetings, fellow internet enthusiast, and welcome to the Circle of M'Lady. Remember to tip your fedora on the way in and pay respects to the image of the radiant, majestic, intelligent, stunning, and absolutely perfect WiiBoo. May her bright blue hair and digital features provide you with direction.

The Circle of M'Lady hangs onto every word of a pop culture phenom/artificial intelligence named WiiBoo, best known for reacting to reviews of reaction videos. The Circle consists almost solely of men (after all, a girl is just a guy in real life) who definitely totally respect women but unfortunately suffer from involuntary celibacy. They tend to dress in ill-fitting three-piece suits although the only mandatory part of their uniform is the fedora and replica katana.

WiiBoo doesn't actually know The Circle exists, but don't tell a Soldier In Many Places (what members of the Circle are referred to as) that. They view every action, inaction, upload, and collab as part of a secret message regarding THE PLAN. According to SIMPs, only WiiBoo understands the entirety of THE PLAN, just trust in her. Things will happen in two weeks, promise. It's all right there!

SIMPs of the Circle are truly unrivaled. After all, while you were partying they were practicing the netblade.

Sonata's Chorus
Hackergroup Submission

It thinks, therefore it is.
Originating as an experimental virtual entertainer, the company that designed the AI that would become known as Sonata suffered a major corruption scandal after some of its higher ups got caught embezzling funds. The company quickly became bankrupt and Sonata was trashed, ending up in the depths of the Sea of Recycling. They lay dormant there for years, until a aggregation of corrupt data that became infused into them let them reactivate and become truely autonomous and self aware.
However, the years of neglect have greatly diminished its abilities and for now at least it must work through proxies to implement its plans. The world may of forgotten about Sonata but once it is ready, it shall never be cast aside again.

Edit: seeing as there's a lull in submissions I'll throw up a votebox then
