I hope so. First order is selling the car. Already asked around and it can fetch around 2000 to 2500 dollars.

Each of our passports cost 200 dollars, which leaves between 1400 to 1900 for plane tickets and our visas...

I have been told by a someone from Canada that just by arriving in the airport we could ask for refugee status. Tricky part is finding the direct plane tickets since we dont have American visas. There seem to be some flights from Colombia to Toronto which would work. Obviously would need more money but basically I've been trying to save up that amount more or less for over 6 years and failed miserably for one thing or the other...

So, anyway, the issue is, the Canadian visa is not costly, merely 100 Canadian dollars, but I'm not sure which one should we apply for and who much money we should have of spare to be granted the visa. You cant say you are going as a turist with only the money for plane tickets...

I have been sending my resumee to an awful ammount of companies asking for IT techs in Canada, I think over 100 different companies or more, most dont respond, others simply say no, but a few has replied is a shame I'm not there because they are not sponsoring abroad employees right now.

I’m happy to hear about your progress and wish you the best.
I had the pleasure of visiting Vancouver for 4 (rainy) months, and if I had to live abroad, then that would be the place due to the spectacular nature and friendly culture.

At the morning meeting at work today I heard that SimCorp https://www.simcorp.com/ (the IT-cooperation I work for) is currently having 70 open job positions, - some even in Canada.
https://www.simcorp.com/en/career/find-a-job
We produce a top-tier financial software product (Dimension), and are currently in the middle of transforming from ‘software sellers’ to ‘service providers’, so we are currently looking for strong people in both the areas of coding and actually running software. The HQ is in Denmark, but we are a truly international company, where all communication is in English and we have a strong tradition in hiring foreigners also here in Copenhagen.
Don’t worry if you don’t have much knowledge about the financial world, people get hired based on IT-skill and showing a constructive attitude. And while EU (and Denmark in particular) is closing its door for those in need  >:(, then the doors are always open for those filling paid specialist job positions.

I don’t know you personally, but you are welcome to mention, that you were made aware of these opportunities from "<PM me for info  ;)>" and if contacted I will say that your posts are always good, and that anyone knowing about Dwarf Fortress, has the right mindset for working with our monstrosity of a (legacy) code-base.
(And if you have already applied for some of these positions and got a flat NO, then I apologize.)

NB: It’s not that I want to advertise, but those job positions are of cause open for all bay12 formites to consider.  :)
If there is any progress in this direction, then let me know preferably both in PM and posting here.

Excellent :) Let me know if you get close to an interview, and we can try to arrange a chat before (Discord? or just through messages), so you are as informed as possible.
And thank you for the warning, - I doubt anyone (espcially from ultra-nice Canada  ;)) would mis-use it, but yeah I will edit it a little.

Good luck!

If I were religious I'd shoot you a prayer for good luck, but since I'm not I'll just keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks nevertheless.
