I think we should do temporary repairs for now, then get a skilled mechanic to fix it after we get rid of the cargo and get payed.

Aye, +1

We can't be without some aptitude, given our character disposition.

By the way, what do our passengers think? Of the of encounter in general, at this unlabelled system. Of the way we dealt with it. Of our intention to strap up the (additional) wear and tear.

They may not have any opinion, that they'd care to share, but possibly they'd go so far as to say they were who the pirates were really after and/or one of them is an expert spacecraft engineer who'd gladly (or preferably!) do the fix-it-upping themselves, and save us the trouble(/do it better than "a wee slip of a lass").

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

This lives! For a moment, at least. Tell me if this isn't working, I'm still trying things out. Currently going for "bored Countess corresponding a fanciful game".

You decide to effect some temporary repairs, with the intention of coming back to it with a skilled individual at a more conducive time.

The passengers are a varied group. As they cheerfully explain to you, they met while serving on an aethership - old, wooden-hulled and sail-driven. They have recently come into some money and decided to spend it on rousing group trip. One in particular is large and grizzled, the result of many days of work on these ships (we all know the type!).

Oh, hello. A long-quiet ping popping back up onto the radar screen!

Bearing in mind my own internal image of the character and setting, I've got something like Agnes McLeod in mind. But I'm not welded to that. Otherwise Maggie(/Margaret), Rose or (a possibly more interesting spelling of?) Eilleen, but almost certainly a different surname. (Maybe none. Maybe far more exotic. I think I know which mental rut I'm bouncing about in at the moment. Please ±1 various bits of this, someone!)

And, of course, that we're happy to be so free to introduce ourselves... and it seems I suggest-prompted the encounter, upon reading the prior thread, so I should be.

That sounds better, I change my vote to this.

Ambivalent on this latest version. Future/spacepunk names can indeed be loopy, but I was thinking less clichéd than Macleod (I'd already decided not to suggest another first name), not more.

Agnes McOatup! (Grandaughter of Angus, the famous cloakroom attendent.)

±0, is my vote, though. I'm just overthinking again.

Are you going to vote for it and keep that other, lame suggestion from winning? At this moment, you mean everything.
