Mira

With the Rathian starting to properly flee and her generator at full capacity, Mira didn't see much point in holding back anymore. Thus, she took up a quick stance, turning back to the direction of the incoming roar and bracing herself, all while a pool of shadowy Magra started to form around her. She'd be prepared for whenever this new arrival set down.

Mira activates Full Moon: Restriction Release, giving her infinite Magra for four turns. In addition, she also uses Lunar Stance, canceling the next attack made against her and striking back for 6d8+3d6+14 damage.

Spoiler: Brynn's Status (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Loadout (click to show/hide)

Despite it having far less resilience than she was used to, the creature still proved hardy enough to keep its head. Brynn grimaced, knowing full well time was running out. There was only one option left.

She pulled Arisen back, adopting a low stance poised to thrust. Bymildrilar closed her eyes, and when they opened a moment later, the twin desert suns had truly become like miniature stars. Blooms of faint blue mist billowed from her fanged maw as her entire body tensed, the full brunt of her draconic power straining against the humanoid form forced to contain it. What sounded like a woman's scream soon morphed into the deafening roar of a fully grown dragon, and shortly following it was a massive boom as Brynn stepped forward and unleashed every once of the power she'd called forth.

Arisen became a blur of rapidly accelerating silver that was simultaneously in her hands, breaching the very sound barrier, and yet also in the sky, peircing the Rathian's sternum with the same ferocity. Brynn could not, would not stop there. She redoubled the power of her grip upon the blade and wrenched it downwards until it slammed into the scorched earth with enough strength to sink both it and herself into a small crater, sending ash and debris in all directions. The transposed section of the blade followed likewise, slashing down the length of the Rathian's body in what looked to be an act of unbridled brutality, but in truth was intended as mercy.

But what is mercy to a dragon? Especially one too young to understand its full strength.

Brynn uses Sunder the Mountain on the Rathian's Torso, dealing maximized weapon damage (6d10Maxed+14=[74]). She is aiming to destroy major organs and finally grant the poor thing death.

The climb up the cliff, while strenuous, is fairly uneventful. It sounds like there are some animals panicking among the mushroom forest at the lowest elevation, but that's far from being a problem. . . probably.

When they reach the top, they see a sort of sandy canyon, with the walls being composed of stacked shelves of coral. They just keep going up, more walkable surfaces interspersed between mossy cliff faces and sheer drops. More signs of their quarry are here, the same birdlike footprints looking somewhat fresh in the soft sand. The walls bear several scratches as well, as if some beast repeatedly clawed at them.

Kraken takes a quick look around, inspecting the claw marks to see if it was indeed their quarry and after a moment coming to the conclusion that it was. He mutters mostly to himself, "Clawing surfaces isn't a typical behavior of avians... Perhaps it's ill or injured? Or maybe this is typical behavior and it does so to maintain growth...."

After a few moments he shrugs and looks back to the Imperial. "Well, I'm not sure why our target id doing this, but given the evidence so far I believe it would be nesting at a high point in the area but one that doesn't require the making of a nest. Don't suppose your ship sees anything like that, like a mountain peak or a cliff for instance?"

"There are several peaks in the area, but unfortunately the Renown's sensors aren't precise enough to pick out specific life signs at this distance.  We'll have to climb up and check them ourselves, I think,"  He looks at the claw markings speculatively, "I'm no xenobiologist, but it strikes me that we can't be certain the claw markings on the walls and the footprints came from the same creature.  Or if it is truly an avian, rather than some strange flying reptile or mammal.  We'll simply have to stay vigilant as we move, until we can lay eyes on the thing."

Cell's shoulders drop at the sign of even more cliffs to climb, or rather to wait for everyone else to climb safely.  He managed to even produce a sort of grinding metal-on-metal groan in place of a sigh.
While the rest of the party looks for tracks Cell wanders toward the stacked coral to see if he can scrounge up any useful materials.

Kraken nods. "Well, regardless of what form of life it takes... In hindsight we probably should have asked about common fauna in the region... Anyway whatever made the claw marks likely wasn't under threat at the time. Hm, maybe we should split up? One team investigates what was down at the mushroom forest while the other investigates the upper levels?"
