Egu the one-shotter of doom
« on: February 27, 2008, 02:02:00 am »

I'm new to adventure mode.

So, I see a capital grey 'S' in a dungeon.  My dungeon crawling instincts fill in "oh, a snake.  Those are somewhat tough, but nothing too bad."  I make my axeman rush it to bash it.

Log announces... it's a giant cave spider.  Oh, right, heard of those; I'm dead, right?  Nope; log also announces that my slash blew out one of its eyes and broke its head, pierced its heart, stunned it, and knocked it down to the ground.  Not dead yet, but that only took two more slashes.

After that, I decided not to push my luck, and to leave that cave.

Next cave: I destroy a number of batmen and giant moles and rats and so on (in order to train up my armor and shield, I corner the thing and then just stand there and let it attack me; works like a charm).  One of my meatshields broke its leg, so I carefully coax him back to health, and we go for seconds.  This time we find the minotaur.  I get the first strike.  Off with Minnie's arm; he's stunned (meanwhile, Minnie's meatshields thump at my meatshields).  Next attack: I bash in his kneecaps; he crumples and passes out.  Now I take the time to keep my meatshields from getting eaten, then calmly return to finish the minotaur job.

All this, while merely an accomplished axeman, as I've been since setting out.  I didn't even use my script!

Heh heh, just wait until your untimely and utterly anticlimactic end.

Bets are on, folks!  Will it be:

A) Giant cave spider
B) Arrow or other range weapon
C) Goblin Axelord
D) Giant bat
E) Iron man
F) Giant cave swallow
G) Random guard
H) *_________

Forgot he didn't put a point of swimming on his character.  Dang.

Besides, I left the last option open.  Write in your own cause of death, and bet on it.

Still, I'll have to remember to add in the fishies next time around.  And there is always a next time.

I specifically went to the seashore to try out this fancy "swimming" thing, but it's hard to swim from the rocky bluffs above.

[Healthcare Update Thread] Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.

I've managed to one-shot a GCS.

However, I've also been one-shotted by a large rat that got lucky and tore out my throat on the first hit.

I had that happen once, but it was my spine, not my throat.  I too have one-shotted GCS's, in fact, I rarely have trouble with GCSs, and if I do, I die.  It's like, I own it, or it owns me, there's no middle ground.

I one shot GCS's with my pikeman all the time... if I savescum enough.  ;) I have actually killed two in a row without reloading, with the help of my trusty drunk. Stab, stab, stuck, bleed to to death while the drunk wrassles with it. The drunk, sadly, was killed by a carp.
