I noticed that our only method of physically dealing with the walls is in shaping, so I have a couple of proposals to give us some other options.

Scaling Ladders (Artifice):
   An idea almost as old as walls themselves, we equip teams of orcs with ladders tall enough to reach the top of the walls.


Passage of Transmutation (Magic):
    The (lead) mage reaches out to touch an obstacle and it's substance is turned to smoke opening a tunnel through it up to ten feet wide.

Is the general plan to take the fortress quickly, before heroes can reach the prison and force a game over?

We might consider either a night vision spell or night vision units, with a night assault, or a spell/unit that can quickly tunnel to breach the fortress and reinforce him.
A strike force of night vision T2-3 units will be versatile enough to be a useful tactical option in the future. Perhaps flavored as elite orcish light infantry with dark magic blessings for strength and night vision?

We could combine an illusion spell with the giant wall-breaker champion "giving orders" in the middle of a hoard. It might delay the heroes if they think they'll be needed to deal with a second giant champion, until we trip one of the Providence saves on a non-essential point of the plan.

I very much want to start with heavy infantry for the siege and then move on to lighter units once we move out into the field. The Wall-Breaker should be able to get the outer forces through the wall quite quickly (it's literally his job, after all :P ) and the forces we've got inside the stronghold ought to be able to do a lot of damage especially if the enemy's forces are already compromised by our spy network.

Let’s aim to have votes in by the end of Wednesday. Feel free to continue to suggest designs! Even if they aren’t chosen now, you can always bring them back in the next turn.

Note, you do not need to make a design to participate in the game. Feel free to vote to what you think is the most useful choice, or the coolest.

As the fires flare a pure red, an ordinary village girl with brown hair pops out of the flames. "Sup. Sorry I'm late, had to deal with a witch burning. The blood effect was cool, but did you have to do so in the middle of breakfast?"


Presenting the Councilor: Tim the Upstart Witch of Flames. Yes that Tim.

Firejump
A evocation which can allow one to travel through flames. Useful for getting into places one shouldn't be, or out of a burning village. Or into it if that's your preference. Just add Fire. Has an effect of being immune to fire after casting the spell. Wouldn't do for a witch to burn at the stake.

Note: While teleportation is not impossible, it is very difficult. Firejump would probably be a tier III or IV spell and allow only the caster to go through, and the range would be somewhat limited as well. I would say this would be a Very Hard spell, as it involves mastery of teleportation and pyromancy (which you could fairly say that this Dark Lord has an affinity for).

But just to set expectations: Mass movement of troops via teleportation? Late Game Mega-Project. Teleportation by skilled casters? Very difficult but not impossible. Easy teleportation into enemy strongholds? Well, what goes around comes around.
