Dwarf present in fortress but not listed as present

I have a dwarf in my fortress which is not listed as one of my dwarves, either in the game proper or in Dwarf Therapist. I have noticed him because he is sitting idle in my meeting area even though the game says I have zero idlers. So I checked by name and he's not one of the dwarves in my fort. Not listed even in Dwarf Therapist. What gives, and what can I do about it?

I think I figured it out. It's the liaison from Mountainhome who decided to stick around for several months after the caravan left. I guess I'll just ignore him.

Is he listed in the unit list in-game?

Is that dwarf a " :)" or a "@"? If it's a " :)" then that's truly a rare occurrence.
