A patch of "Grass" appears deep in the cavern. Note that it's "inside" and "underground".

Again in this corridor, a forgotten beast met the siegers. This time, the siegers were elves with human name. The forgotten beast, Eslul, really lulled the enemies to sleep with its deadly dust!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Eslul died before it could put all soldiers to sleep.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

However, after it was dead, and all the elves fell asleep, the corpse of Eslul rose! And it killed its enemies in their sleep.

I don't see any images in this and the recent previous posts, all the spoilers are empty. Looking at the quote in the editor here I can see links to pages, like https://ibb.co/bWSVRPv. Going to that page, at the bottom is an Embed codes tab where it has BBCode for inlining the images, which I can see in the preview, like the following:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Edit: yeah, I can see the image in my spoiler in this post

This is the 1st spoiler that is empty for me:
I used to only have 1 diagonal tile as the miasma stopper but the corpses kept running out and got killed outside and lay there rotting. Then I came up with this idea. Now the soldiers always strike down the zombie before it reaches the end of the diagonal corridor. It keeps miasma in.

Building a panic room around the well is a very good idea. I'll do this before I breach the Adamantine.

Now it's year 131, late spring. Dead/Missing 5083.

I got around to reduce the zombie horde in the caverns. First, I opened the entrance to the 1st cavern. Zombies began to march in roughly a single file towards my fort! Dozens of them used to gather around the map edge, probably attracted to there by wild animals entering the map. As soon as I open the gate, they started staggering shambling rolling to the entrance and climbing up the 80+ levels of stairs like an undead river flowing upward to my dwarfs! I forgot to take screenshots but that really looked like the army of Saruman marching from his tower. I only captured the aftermaths:

17 Granite, year 136, Early Spring. Citizens 83, deaths 6150.

A giant mole skulked into my fort while the dwarfs were walling up the 1st cavern. The dogs picked fight with it and somehow the conflict involved this grey langur who had been living in the fort for many years. Originally rescued from the elven caravan, this intelligent creature had had full freedom to roam in the dwarven settlement! Poor monkey died to this ferocious giant mole.

Now I'm planning to breach the ____. As if knowing my plan, the dwarfs began to include ____ in their work.

They poured out of ____ and met these goblin siegers mid-way up the stairs.

This goblin was very bruised and burnt.

Go Necrovultures!

Necrovultures fell after valiantly roasting some goblins.

Eventually, the goblins were defeated. Apocalypse took over.

Abominations hovering over snow-crested winter trees... smoke rising...

Things collapsing here and there...

All this, of course, didn't affect my dwarfs at all. They were making soaps day and night to keep up with the consumption after the second bath was open.

Then an ettin came, one of the first of her kind as I remember.

The ettin was immediately buried under a group of thornbills who somehow were beakless.

Meanwhile, 5 animals in the farm chose to die at the same time when spring arrived.

This scared others mightily. Note those blue !'s.

Miraculously, an elven caravan made its way across the Apocalypse and safely arrived at the depot! Truly Nature's friend, blending into the forest so well.

Honestly if I saw 5 animals drop dead of old age at the same time, I'd be freaked out as well.

When I get a usable ladder I'll play Smallhand. I read about it and it's quite interesting even though I can't see the pics.

The fore-mentioned elven caravan, somehow got into my dump shaft when I didn't open the gate in time for them to leave.

The magma pool is a power plant that burns garbage and fuel the smelters.

I have no idea how they got in, and it's difficult to get them out, even more so to smuggle them out of the map when &'s are rampaging. And if I let them starve there, they'll become zombies that spam cancellation when dwarfs are dumping. I came up with a solution: Bombarding them with my decade of bone pile. A stream of little 2's flows into the shaft:

A siege. The war between the evil goblins and the yet more evil ____.

Trajectory of a fire ball.

Trajectory of a troll sent flying by the ____.

This single & held itself against a whole army of goblins, trolls, and beakdogs.

Those that fell earlier in the battle rose up and returned to the fight!

Gishdistbonun, a spear stuck in its body, broken in every place, covered with human blood rained from this evil sky, kept fighting on.

Standing over the corpses of a full siege, Gishdistbonun emerged victorious.

Down in the cavern, Petratotnge, probably the oldest surviving zombie, finally met its match.

A fire-breathing mite!

I didn't watch the fight but the result is that Petratotnge is now a jabberer mangled partial skeleton and Orshar is dead.

Our mayor, Zefon, named her artifact after herself.

And another pair of twins:

Thanks DwarfUli. I like to share the interesting events that happened in my game. The texture of the ascii is very aesthetic. It's one of the reasons that made me start to play DF.

14th Felsite, 137, Late Spring. Citizens 83, deaths 6658, body parts 1272/5824, corpses 39/2163

Sakzul, the orphan baby dwarf. Minkot was her mother. The exact cause of death is unknown. Probably infection. The log stock is dwindling after the surface was taken over by those nether beasts.

Crawling around in the temple, Sakzul is kept well fed and hydrated.

Sakzul, before she learns to speak, already has two pet cats.

Meanwhile on the surface, more twins...

I have fully enclosed a large area of the 1st cavern. This includes a big magma lake resulted from the fort's first attempt to make a magma cistern. An accidental diagonal leak created a big pool of magma. Now I want to get rid of the trees that stand in the magma lake. The solution is: ballista.

The ballista arrow flies... And hits the tree which disappears instantly in a poof! Look that pit forming in the middle of the magma. It was a mushroom tree until the arrow hits it.

The arrow hits the wall and falls down. Those two grey tiles are where the trees stood. Magma never fills these two empty spaces.

A werekoala decided to bring more death to this frozen hell known as Winedinks!
