It was intended as the only form of propulsion on quite a few parasite craft, so that could rather hamper things...

Speaking of hampering things, how exactly are parasites designed? Are they like projects, or like tiny, tiny ships? Also, how exactly do the powerplants work in relation to powering things?

We're talking about partially sapient undead spaghetti here, you can probably instruct it to only strangle specific diners.

Hulls are designed along with the vessel themselves. Currently, House Sorlaria has difficulty constructing larger vessels; while there is no hard size limit, scaling up a component will usually result in higher complexity.

Oh, by the way, to answer a question you may have: You can do a design and something dependent on that design in the same turn, but the time limits mean that you will not be able to revise that design - so if it rolls poorly, both projects may be affected.

Ninja edit because I didn't see Asea's post: Parasites are designed identically to ships. Parasite bays can carry a number of parasite craft totalling up to 80% of their size. Power rules are... under construction, but assume a ship needs roughly a third of its mass dedicated to powerplants. More will allow higher speed and more consuming components, and less will cause slowness - and, depending on how many components consume power and how large it is, brownouts. The mass of the power plant also represents the mass of the stores, so a short range ship can get away with a smaller engine.

Not including propulsion?

Also, whats the standard size for a civillian parasite?

Wow, i just keep editing things. So, the parasite bays holding 80% their volume in parasites, those are basically hangars, yes? what about just... docking pylons?

100 units are about the lower end. Most parasites are about 500 units, and the extremely large ones are roughly 800 units or more.

And, no, the 30% number doesn't include propulsion. That's usually another 10-20%, again, depending on design factors. Of course, a stronger engine and propulsion system would mean less volume per thrust...

Yes, 80% of their volume is for fully-enclosed hangers.  Pylons can carry a single parasite up to around three times the size of the pylon, but they have downsides: it gets substantially harder to use the pylon as its volume grows, and ships on a pylon are both very hard to access to work on or transfer crew outside of a wetdock environment and more vulnerable to weapons.

Allright, in that case, I think I may have two workable designs ready for this turn...
