The Aesthetic Images Thread

Can be pleasing, or displeasing, like H.R. Giger. As long as it has an aesthetic vibe.

Here is some architecture I find pleasing:

I leave you my offering: PONTE TOWER

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Originally envisioned as super luxurious apartments, the tower became a delapidated but habitable enough accommodations complete with residents dumping rubbish out the windows into the circular interior. Reminds me of an apartment block I once lived in in Beijing where the square interior housing all the ventilation fans suffered the same fate - for some god forsaken reason, the majority of the stairwell's inhabitants decided that ventilation = RUBBISH CHUTE. Good times, good times. Really, I can't think of anything which encapsulates the promise of the past and the disappointment of the present more than endless unfinished apartment towers. They speak to a pre-tower of Babel ambition that crashed horrifyingly with the consequences of past mismanagement to produce some mutated oppressive edifice out of the skeleton of a dreamed luxury tower

It is not a pleasing aesthetic, but it is an aesthetic nonetheless.

Who's got some of them liminal spaces aesthetic?

I saw some of his bronze horses in a cathedral in Venice stolen there after the Latins had looted Constantinople. It was really cool, though I felt philosophical pain that one of the horses' previous owners had deliberately scarred the metal to make it look cooler and less shiny >:[

Now that is pretty aesthetic. Reminds me of a photographer I spoke to once many moons ago who hated when people called his fractal pictures "art." Because he said all he did was take pictures of the things nature made, and the things nature made were much better than any "art" he could make

Then the wise mushroom shaman of Tassili-n-Ajjer exclaimed, "Eat Your Mushrooms!"

And lo! He sprouted mushrooms from his flesh.
