Glad to pick the game up!
I shall avenge you Udil! Although I may have become a necromancer my passion for justice is not lost!

Also the necromancer I resurrected as a ghoul in my last turn? I checked in on him!

He rejoined his civilization and even started a relationship, which he lost later that year, but fought in wars defending his peoples homeland and has developed a penchant for gambling

Neat to see him change...sort of.

Not done with turn yet, but did want to give an update that I crashed my game because I got such a large group to siege that tower the sword is in that the game just couldn't take it

The monster that killed Udil is TERRIFYING

I also looked it up on legends viewer and it was equally as terrifying when it was alive. Undeath just gave it superpowers

Last entry within the Journal of Maloy found underneath a pile of rubble in Hailenjoyed

After a great many weeks of searching I had finally returned to my home with the legendary blade of Stalkmatches recovered once more. My dreams though were now dashed. Cursed and accursed I was slowly dying and my mind is a cloud I can not seem to pierce. Through being chased by a grizzly bear the size of a house across the countryside and losing my companion horrifically. To rallying the local warriors and bandits around the tower that had stolen Stalkmatches to besiege it and to finally losing every single man as a great battle of the undead, theirs and mine as my comrades fell and were raised by me again, I fought the masters of the tower while a legendary monster butchered my friends over and over again, and although I slew them all this great beast was undefeatable. I recovered Stalkmatches, but I fear without a master to control it I've unleashed a dangerous evil on the world.
The nobility of Hailenjoyed mocked my cowardice and berated me for the threat I unleashed. I set Stalkmatches on its pedestal in Hailenjoyed and left. I shall retire, to my death, peacefully in the forests to the north. Etile I pray that you remember me fondly

My turn was wild lol. The battle at the tower was huge very huge. I showed up just as a riot was breaking out and so Udil's killer was putting them down. So the rioters and my own men unintentionally teamed up in the moment.

I resurrected Udil, but I'm not sure if he or anyone else at the tower survived after I was forced to flee. That monster is now THE leader of the tower and also has this

I had zero chance of beating him. He was simultaneously fighting over 20 enemies at once over and over again as I would immediately resurect them all. My character will probably die soonish. I may make someone to resurrect him or I may leave it. Not sure, but at least the sword is safe

That ghoul is a monster, no wonder poor trained Udil didn't stand a chance. The potash ghoul has some fight. Did you die to stalkmatches? Atleast the ghoul is adding to. The kill count, anyone feeling up to facing this dangerous ghoul?

Oh sorry I escaped with it.
I'm about to take the time to do a write-up the problem being how to break down the crazy amount of stuff that happened

Every single man in my army(except for one) and the rebels who were already there all died to him multiple times
but I got the sword from him and ran as fast as I could. He cursed me too as I ran so now I am slowly dying to brain rot

I placed the sword in Hailenjoyed on the pedestal inside the castle where I originally found it on my turn. My roleplay being that my character didn't really identify it as HIS sword and didn't see it as something he should hold onto

The undead still lives, rules the tower now and its armies(of which there's still a notable amount) and identifies the sword as his and so may actually seek to retrieve it. I tried to hide my identity while there, but I'm not good at deception so I'm imagining a dark timeline where he wipes out my civilization I have grown so attatched to lol

The Good Coalition Report

Recovery was unsuccessful, when the pair was sent out to collect the evil blade of stalkmatches they returned empty handed. Apparently an agent of ours had already arrived to secure it, had even stolen some jewels as well. Ofcourse the identity was narrowed down when it was revealed to be a crab man, we don't know what exactly why they were there. Their task was completed and the local bear was taken care of but his partner has also be found dead. Dik Trailtufts the Responsible Saffron is to be looked for, the crab man is likely responsible for the recent area masacres and is wielding that blade. Their is a additional report that they have felled Dik and Stalkmatches is in Fellroad. We will send agents to collect the sword soon however our recent attacks on The Poetic Poets for control of Beachedrooms has are resources pulled thin.

((OOC: The blade is in Fellroad ))

I'd be willing to take it up starting next week if someone wants to do this week?

Dark Awakening
Maloy had enjoyed years of peace in his homeland since his last adventure. Although there was always something going on he rarely had to do more than guard duty, patrols or escorts to other towns.
His hair had started to grey, but he couldn't fight the feeling of wrongness ever since he read that book The Interpretation of Annihilation
Since that day he had not felt tired a day of his life and, in an act of mercy, brought the slain necromancer back to life. From what he heard he had lived an honest life and even found a wife since then.

Still, now he was requested again by lord Almo. Stalkmatches, which had been used in glorious heroics across the land was lost. It was no in the hand of a dangerous monster, little of the details about it were known, only that it served a conclave of necromancers and was surrounded by an army of darkness.
Maloy was the only credible person in Hailenjoyed to seek it other than Lord Almo who had to rule this great city. He was told his odds of survival were low.
Etile would not accompany him. This left him both incredibly sad and relieved. They had a deep friendship bordering on romance over the years and he was glad of her safety.
Instead a young elf spearman named Penopu would join him. They set off south and spoke very little.

Maloy had no need to rest at night, but he also could not see well in the dark and needed to keep up his cover of total humanity.
They were waylaid
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The creature was definitely stronger and faster than the both of them and Penopu was taking the majority of the damage. All the while Maloy relied on his tirelessness and beat the monster down to death with his copper two-handed blade(more like a blunt instrument than a blade)

They were attacked again in two separate incidents by similar monsters. They had clearly passed through the territory of another necromancer, but they were nowhere near the tower they sought after for it lied across the continent.
All they could do is sneak around and try to avoid attention.

For a time they wandered a jungle of giant trees higher than the eyes could see and realized they were lost, and suddenly cornered.
A Giant Brown Bear: The size of a large building and easily able to scale the walls of Hailenjoyed if it meant to and it had them against a wall of a mountain.
As Maloy prepared to run Penopu charged straight after it. He was very quickly overwhelmed and Maloy had to practically throw himself at the bear to try and buy his elf companion time. Only too late:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Finally, an appropriate fear set in on the screaming and dying Penopu who crawled away faster than a blink as the bear turned to Maloy. Maloy continued to dodge and slice at the creatures legs until a slash slowed it enough for the two to escape. Penopu survived the blood loss, but could not walk and they were nowhere near any towns to search for crutches.

They continued at a crawling pace circling back around to find a way out of this jungle. In the evening they were awakened by shuffling in the woods near them. Maloy snuck around and saw that the bear was near again. It chased them across the land and was sniffing the air...searching.
They snuck away and walked some distance to rest again. The bear appeared again still carrying Penopu's leg in it's mouth.
They snuck away once more and slept through the night finally, and neared the river they would have to cross to get out of this terrible jungle. How they would with a legless elf? Neither knew and didn't need to as before they could reach it the bear finally caught them in it's sights

It still had Pen's leg in it's mouth, but as it laid eyes upon the elf dropped the leg for its true prize, as if it's one purpose in life was to destroy this elf and seized him.
He was torn to shreds. Another arm torn off. Giant gashes torn into his chest and legs and finally his head bitten and torn off. The bear turned to Maloy. This bear would come to be known as Lawalidava

All he could do was swing at its legs and dodge ahead using his limitless energy to his advantage. The bear was unbothered and continued to chase. Finally it charged and slammed Maloy into a tree and he fell to the ground. He slashed again at it's legs and rolled away and then a second time. Finally, it fell to the ground.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Maloy stood, rage blinding him and he began to slash at any exposed part as he dodged in circles around the toppled creature. Finally, it gave into pain.
He stabbed it in the head and barely did any damage, but did so again and again blinded by his anger at his dead comrade. Again and again doing hardly any damage to the thick ginormous skull. After what must have been 50 strikes finally he broke through and stabbed it's brain felling it.

Maloy fell to the ground in his spent rage and overflowing sorrow and looked at his dead friend. Dead on his watch. What a pitiable excuse for a warrior. That could have been Etile if she had been the one sent. The fact that he was relieved it wasn't her disgusted him.
In sorrow, spite and disgust he threw his hands out towards Pen and the elf's corpse shuddered. Too late Maloy realized what a terrifying mistake this was. Pen had his life restored with all intelligence, but lacking an arm, leg and head he was crawling blindly around. The pathetic scene left Maloy even more disgusted with what he had just cursed his friend to.

How was he going to take on a terrible monster that could slay great heroes alone? Poetic justice struck him. He turned and raised the bear back to life as a mindless zombie. His great assailant and burden would serve and hopefully die again in service to him.
The party of 2 and a half set off to cross the jungle and continue to Stalkmatches

OOC: For real though after this happened I was like "how in the world am I gonna get Stalkmatches when I barely survived this bear...but I did and that will be the next post

Feel free to if no one else takes it up in the interim. Yeah, my crabman nearly got completely merked by a bear too, hurt it pretty bad but ran away. It killed an elf i convinced to join me.

Almost done with my current turn, but here's my last one done too. My current turn of goblin antics has been fun!

The Coward and the Beast

Here we were. A lonesome journey had been made around the mountains.
We were attacked by more giant wildlife. A man eating cheetah and wolf as well as many birds
Each had died and and I resurrected them all. I had to avoid the many towns and villages we passed for their safety. The villagers would only hear of our dread march

Pen died again, killed by the cheetah attack. I allowed him to rest realizing my great error in bringing him back. He had lost all his limbs, but one arm and had lost his head. His existence in undeath was a living hell. I contemplated carrying him back home after so that he could be buried, but remembered he was a traditional elf. He would want to be left to return to the jungle.

More dead were lost on the way chasing animals that interested them, and so I reached the tower with the most fearsome of the crew. The giant bear, wolf and cheetah.

I completed my task quickly. I killed each necromancer in stealth and resurrecting them as mindless zombies so their friends could not raise them back soul intact. Unlike the first tower I ventured the books here did not speak of compassionate souls gone astray. These men plotted the rule the world, twist it into their image and lay waste to all that wouldn't serve
So, I felt no pity in ending them. I did not find Stalkmatches, the whole purpose of my quest, and I realized why: I was in the wrong place!

I followed the exact directions given to me:

Look for an accursed tower with the mountains to its north. Surrounded by barrows and the land itself cursed around it. To the southwest you will see villages and towns

It turns out that fit the bill of a lot of evil towers...
I didn't have the time or ability to solve the problem of the great army of living monsters they had raised and were overflowing from the area. I had to hope that without masters many of them might find their own better lives and that another dark ruler wouldn't arise and plague these nearby lands. I left the bear and cheetah in the tower to discourage future residency and then I led the necromancer zombies into the woods.

I found the most unimportant looking spot and I told them to wait with the giant wolf left to guard them. If someone considered these men worthy enough to properly resurrect then they would have to work for it. This seemed fitting to me rather than passing judgement that they could never be worthy of a second chance at life.

I continued south until I grew close to the true tower. Zombies were useless in a fight and I truthfully doubted my ability to kill whatever great beast it was that could slay a wielder of Stalkmatches.
So, on the way I dropped by any settlement I could to find help. A bandit camp here and a village there. I told great tales of my exploits back home and the darkness I was able to overcome in a similar tower. I promised glory in our new band that would travel the lands and bring peace and return a great treasure to those people who live in the light of life.

It worked! I approached those cursed lands with a ragtag army of former bandits and militia men. The bandits making up a majority.

As the invasion began the zombies swarmed us first, but were easily overcome when matched by similar numbers who were armored and armed. I raised each zombie back with its soul so it might have an identity and not fight us. Many simply stood and did not move again. Perhaps their spirit had decayed too much in the interim?

We entered the tower into an even more encouraging sight: Rebellion!
The soldiers the tyrants had created were rioting in the very tower itself! The rebels far outnumbered the loyalists and the brawl had broken out! This doubled our numbers, but I avoided engaging yet(although my army did) and wandered the side passages.

I found a dead dwarf and a couple of other corpses. Perhaps one of these were the fallen wielder of Stalkmatches? It wasn't my place to judge or condemn, but I wanted to offer hope and I raised them all. The dwarf immediately fled to the far corners of the tower while the others stalked back to the main room to join the melee.

I came in time to see a necromancer coming down the main stairs above the melee. He was shouting and throwing his arms. Those who died came back, some as zombies and some with souls. The necromancer likely could not tell the rioters from the loyalists either as some of the resurrected went back to attacking the remaining loyalists.

I jumped across the mob and landed on the staircase and before running up threw my own hands up and resurrected all the dead to continue fighting for us. I quickly caught up to the necromancer and swiped his legs out from under him. I beat at him while more loyalists from above struck at my armor. Finally, I crushed his head and knowing that if I made him a zombie he'd attack my men and so I began to cut. I dismembered his body into pieces and organs so that it would never rise again: A cruel judgement but one made from desperation.

Another necromancer came from the corridor I just had exited before climbing the stairs. I resurrected more men. I could not discern my men from the mess of blood and bodies so I brought all back. The battle would continue with no winner until I could kill the necromancers myself. I jumped off the staircase landing from three floors near the new necromancer only to look up and realize how lucky I had been.

The room fell into total silence: The beast had appeared.
He was dressed as a man, and seemed so normal and unsuspecting, but in his hands were Stalkmatches and the room quaked at his presence. Every time he swung his sword more died. His fists caused more to explode. I kept resurrecting hoping the mass of bodies distracting him would by me time, but no one stood even the remotest chance.

I dueled with fury stabbing my blade at the necromancers while watching the beast harvest endlessly. Finally, I crushed the necromancer's skull in and all that was left was the beast.
He did not stop fighting. He killed again and again and people were resurrected, with similar physical powers as him, only to be slain again!
He likely killed every many in that room at least six times before the end! Finally, someone wrestled Stalkmatches out of his arm: That holy sword stolen for dark deeds!

I did not wait. I sprinted for it and grabbed it and looked helplessly on the men I led into this place. Each one pitiable in sight like Pen. Missing multiple body parts, but fighting on endlessly. I could not defeat this beast and even if I could all these noble souls would be condemned to a fate worse than death. So...I ran. I abandoned all my men and ran, and in my attempt at cowardice the beast turned his hand towards me and cast a curse upon me. I am dying now:

I fled for the many days it took to return home with no one else following me, except for one. A lone bandit with a greataxe: Ezum. He had only lost his head and otherwise was intact and he followed. He could not speak and had nowhere to return to in his present state so he followed me. He was a constant accusation to anyone who saw me that I was more than I appeared: An abominable necromancer, but I had no right to abandon him.

When I reached home I returned the sword and told my tale:

I was rejected for the coward I was although some simply did not believe my tale and mocked me for a liar. At this point my mind was mostly gone all that had kept me going was the will to return holy stalkmatches, and now with the last of my strength I wandered into the forest.
I found a den of kobolds, unable to accuse me, and settled. I raised their dead back to life and fell at last to rest in this beautiful land I fought so hard for. Ezum my eternal protector.

OTHER STUFF:
That intelligent undead killed every about six times each.

I'm not planning to resurrect Maloy, but someone else can if they want? I did also sort of accept this as an ending for him.

Originally my plans with him from here was to settle a land I found while wandering and try to create some kind of peaceful enclave away from the endless necromancer hordes and other threats, but oh well.
He's still alive by the way, but his brain rot has advanced totally so the moment you load him or go onto his site he should just die instantly.

I often feel oddly bad about killing people in adventure mode. I think because a lot of times the personality of the npc isn't even that bad it's just civ flags and other stuff making us fight so I often just resurrected people and then left while they were dazed. Maybe unwise?
I mean that one necromancer from my first turn went back home and led a good life after I did that to him
