Propaganda works both ways, usually you take both sides claim, divide by 2 and you're "probably" not far from the reality.
But it's something difficult to do when a side claims there's no loss and the other side claims everyone is dead.

Yeah, that approach of "in the middle" is a bad, bad idea. What one should do is assign trust levels to various sources of information with some getting ZERO trust (Like any official Russian source).

Blindly assuming that there is "some truth" in everything you hear is a very flawed approach.
