-Wasters - the main playable faction in this mod - the Wasters are loose groups of various individuals seeking to survive together, both those who are more normal and those who are far more eccentric. Their name has a double meaning - aside from being short for "Wastelanders" it also refers to how a lot of Wasters, well, waste away, merely existing rather than attempting to improve their living conditions.
With your help, however, they might be able to prosper! Or die horribly.
Be wary of other groups of Wasters - some may not be so friendly and will send out thieves to take your stuff.
Wasters also have numerous variants with different abilities, and oftentimes additional methods of attacking. Keep a lookout on their symbols and their descriptions.
-B.B.B.s - group of pacifists - their name stands for "Beautiful Baby Boys". Often considered creepy due to their habit of wearing doll masks, they are nonetheless well-meaning, and shy away from the violence exhibited by other groups in the wastelands. Due to prior experiences, however, they have put more emphasis on self-defense skills.
Amongst the most tough of them are the B.B.B. Defenders, who are agile, strong warriors that prefer fighting unarmed and utilize some martial arts-type blows.
-Bloodmoon Natives - a tribe of Native Americans that just barely managed to recover after many of their warriors were slain by Brad Armstrong. Though they don't favor violence, and will trade with thoe who they deem worthy (themselves using many weapons primarily gotten from trade), they are also highly protective of the natural world, and will declare war on those who they deem to be defilers, particularly should one cut down some of the few remaining bloodwood trees.
Amongst their strongest warriors are those known as Bloody Wolfsouls, who take after their former chieftain, possessing strong hand-to-hand skills and supernatural abilities.
-Creeps - mutated humans that are known to live in overrun, ruined towns. Gaunt, pale and skeletal, few know their origin as the failed results of a secret super-soldier program. Though they are practically never seen wearing clothing, much less armor, they are quite agile and deadly still.
They have two sub-types - Creep Brutes, who, perhaps as a result of further alteration, have grown to a larger size, with a proportional increase in strength. The other sub-type are the half-creeps, unfinished versions who are stuck in a state between human and creep. Still intelligent enough to speak, wear clothing and use weapons, they feel more kinship with other Creeps rather than with humans, and often lead the Creep hordes.
-Devil's Bath Yakuza - a gang of men who style themselves after the Japanese Yakuza, possessing a similar hierarchy and often seen with elaborate irezumi tattoos, as well as more well-maintained clothing compared to most other gangs. They also often use Japanese weapons, presumably salvaged antiques and professionally-made pieces alongside more shoddy mall ninja equipment. They've carried on despite the death of Han Tsunami, their former leader - and appear to have suffered from a schism in their ranks, with some chapters believing they should regain territory through conquering other settlements, and others believing a more peaceful approach is preferable.
Their rank-and-file are often simply called Devil's Bath Boys - those who actually gain the title of Yakuza are highly-respected, fearsome fighters who easily fight unarmed or with swords and machetes, and also possess supernatural abilities. There are also those known as Extortionists amongst their numbers - big, tough men who often serve as debt collectors, but are also known to shake down others for mags. They primarily fight unarmed with a powerful yet unrefined fighting style.
-Dice's Bikers - a gang of men formerly under Dice Mahone. Motorbike and gambling enthusiasts, they only rarely use other vehicles, and also utilize various firearms, mostly one-handed ones.
Generally considered a nuisance due to their habit of raiding other settlements for fun. Amongst them are men known as the Hard Riders - only loosely affiliated with the rest of the gang, they've joined mostly due to a shared love of motorbikes and easy access to them. They worship the legendary figure known as the Hardest Rider, and style themselves after him - similarly to him, they possess a variety of supernatural powers, often change their fighting styles while in combat and favor firearms.
-Fishmen - a group of fish humanoids that have appeared after the Flash. Though they generally keep to themselves, they occasionally trade with the friendlier groups of humans.
They often utilize simple, primitive weapons, alongside whatever usable objects they fish out from the waters - same goes for their clothing, much of it damp.
Among them are two sub-types - Demon-eye Fishmen, strong warriors that each possess a swollen, oversized red eye - they favor spears and unarmed combat, and induce fear by glaring; and Fishman Oracles, larger fishmen with barbels and long tails - they dispense wisdom to other fishmen, and possess the ability to hurl bolts of electricity.
-Garbage Islanders - a group of men that originally settled Garbage Island. They've traveled inland in order to spread their religion - a worship of garbage and rejection of the possibility of improving one's life condition.
Many consider them to be somewhat obnoxious, due to their lack of hygiene and nihilistic outlook - they are nonetheless accepted as trading partners, as they often find interesting, usable items in the garbage.
Amongst their more religious members are the Disciples and Mystics of Trash - the former being strange men prone to dancing and partying, who also favor throwing weapons, and the latter being bigger and more burly men who fight with an unrefined unarmed fighting style and are responsible for keeping the peace around their settlements.
-Grease Monkeys - a relatively new gang prowling the wastes of Olathe. Composed of extreme stunt enthusiasts, they show a similar nihilistic philosophy to the Garbage Islanders, though in a different manner - rather than wasting away amidst the garbage, they prefer to go out on their own terms, preferably in a fiery vehicular explosion while looking cool as hell. This also often makes them raid other settlements, seeing it as yet another thrill and a possible cool way to die.
They often take on various personas, wearing flashy outfits, often alongside country flags and different masks or costume heads.
Those amongst them known as the Greasy Daredevils are the greatest thrill seekers of all, as well as competent acrobats and stuntsmen - they favor firearms and use a kick-heavy fighting style.
-Gun Runners - another new gang found in the ruined Olathe. The Gun Runners prefer a more diplomatic approach to establishing their presence, compared to most other groups. Being one of the very few groups to be able to professionaly manufacture their own firearms, weapons and armor, they sell their goods to those who they deem to be worthy of their aid.
-Helmet Snakes - another new gang found in the wastes of Olathe. The Helmet Snakes are a rather inexperienced group that favors a punkish aesthetic. They are rather simple raiders, having little in ways of armor and using simple weapons for combat - they also use pistols, but neglect the usage of any other type of firearm.
-Hollywood Dudes - a gang formerly under Hawk Hollywood - having rebranded themselves after his mutation, they now take to a more surfer-dude look and lingo - they are also considerably more aggressive than before, seeking to claim more territory by force. Those of them known as Hollywood Superstars take after their former leader (for some ungodly reason), and are vain, arrogant dickheads - despite that, they are still quite proficient unarmed fighters.
-Horndogs - not a proper gang - rather a group of various sex pests exiled underground for their behavior. They are found in the caverns in hostile groups that seek to release their frustrations on anyone who comes too close.
-Hyenas - a relatively newer gang prowling Olathe - the Hyenas are a group of sadistic raiders, who often torture and enslave those who succumb to their raids.
They mostly utilize revolvers and pistols for firearms, and are also amongst the few to use sawblade launchers.
The Hyena Brutes are burly, large men, and appear to be the most cruel of them all, and take easily to fighting unarmed, with fist weapons, swords, heavy weapons, but most of all whips.
-Infinity Franchisers - a group of men infamous for their red-and-green 88 jerseys and the extreme, pointless violence they exhibit. Showing an almost religious reverence for a force they call the Infinity, the Franchiser's goal seems to be slaughtering as many people as possible in order to acquire more folds of Infinity. While some of them are more civil, and are capable of becoming allies, they overall seek only to raid and kill. Rumors also speak of some of them possessing disturbing supernatural abilities, far beyond the typical fireballs and finger lasers seen amongst many wastelanders.
-Joy Boys - a gang formerly lead by Buzzo - having recovered from a great loss at the hands of the Rando army, they are back to their old ways - aggressively dealing Joy to those unaware of its effects and raiding for the fun of it.
Many of the Joy Boys themselves are Joy addicts, and while uncommon, they do occasionally mutate into grotesque forms when under duress. There are also those known as Maniacs, that take after Buzzo's habits and cruelty - they particularly take easily to wielding swords.
-Lardy's Truckers - a gang formerly under the leadership of Lardy Hernandez. Unlike many others gangs, they prefer a more business-like approach to establishing their presence, delivering goods to various settlements in their trucks, for a price.
They have a positive reputation, often dissuading most raiders from going after them - even so, they are no pushovers, particularly those known as Lardy's Goons - burly, tough men who often wield heavy weapons.
More loosely affiliated with the gang are the devil truckers, men who style themselves after a legendarily powerful trucker, known as Mike to few and Satan to most others - to the point of cutting off one of their hands and replacing it with a sharpened prosthetic one.
-Lincoln's Warriors - a gang formerly under the leadership of Big Lincoln. They keep to a honorable warrior culture, and often wear wolf masks in memory of their deceased leader. They wield a variety of weapons, a mixture of both professional ones and more crudely-made improvised weapons. As they care for strength above all, even what few women are among their ranks partake in combat. The toughest amongst them are Lincoln's Wolves and Lincoln's Amazons - the former being towering behemoths who take after their former leader and fight with a powerful unarmed style while exhibiting supernatural powers, and the latter being some of the strongest female warriors in the wastelands, who utilize a kick-heavy, agile fighting style.
-Lovelies - a gang of violent perverts, rapists and addicts. Considered one of the most feared gangs in Olathe, even despite their losses - noone wants to see a group of heart-masked men standing at their doorstep. What few women there are amongst them appear to be just as violent and demented. Many Lovelies are also Joy addicts, even taking it in the middle of a fight. Those known as Lovely Brutes take after Hart, their former leader - known for mocking enemies and utterly brutalizing them, they are not to be taken lightly.
-Mole Diggers - a relatively new group that has established a reputation in the wastelands of Olathe, the Mole Diggers are descendants of Olathe's miners.
They generally live in underground complexes, deeming the surface world as unsafe, but will on occasion travel and trade with others. Though generally shorter and stockier on average than most other men in the wastes, they are also hardier.
Amongst them are also those known as Steel Drivers, responsible for maintaining the mine tracks and helping with blasting tunnels. They almost religiously worship a figure known as John Henry, and often call on him for strength while in the middle of a fight.
-Mutant Cultists - a cult composed of the former members of Sindy Gallows' gang. They concern themselves little with finding women and repopulating the human species, unlike many others, and instead worship the Joy Mutants, seeing them as the next step of humanity.
They seek to capture and turn as many worthy people as possible into the mutants, and as such are highly despised by many of the other Wastelanders - only the Franchisers, Lovelies and Skinwalkers come close in terms of negative reputation.
Those called the Immortal Cultists are amongst the toughest and most durable of the cultists, and appear to take after their former leader - they are highly versatile fighters, deadly when fighting unarmed, with spears or with hunting weapons.
-Olathe Stampeders - a gang composed of American football enthusiasts, formerly under the leadership of Buffalo van Dyke. Despite their leader's abandonment and subsequent disappearance, they have carried on, believing the legacy of football needs to be carried on into the future. They often fight unarmed, using various football maneuvers to strike down their foes, but will also often use weapons. Though they raid others, they treat it as more of a game than anything.
Amongst them are the All-Americans, super-patriots who take after their former leader - aside from being strong and tough unarmed fighters, they are capable of channeling their patriotic fervor into powerful blasts of energy.
-Rando Soldiers - members of the Rando Army, one of the largest forces in the wastelands of Olathe. Though having suffered a great loss at the hands of Brad Armstrong, they have managed to recover after some time.
Possessing some of the best equipment available in the wastes, their leaders seek to establish peace in Olathe - even if it means conquering various areas by force.
Amongst their strongest men are the Disciples of Rando, who seek to carry on his legacy and utilize an unarmed fighting style similar to his - just like him, however, they are unable to personally control what each member of the army does, leading to many disliking the soldiers due to the actions of the more opportunistic
and cruel among them.
-Skinwalkers - a new gang prowling the wastes of Olathe. The Skinwalkers quickly built up a fearsome reputation across the wastes, due to gleefully cannibalizing and skinning alive the victims of their raids.
Few other groups are as hated as they are, and they often wear jewelery made from the bodies of their victims, and occasionally the tanned skin of their victims.
The Maniacs amongst them are even more wildly psychotic, and are adept with various types of weapons.
-Trash Bandits - a new gang prowling the wastes of Olathe. The Trash Bandits are strange and highly eccentric - they worship raccoons, steal various things, even those of relatively little value, and eschew civilized living and more advanced weaponry.
Considered to be a nuisance, at best, they are often disliked for the foul odor of trash that follows them. While some squat in ruined towns or simple villages, others of their type live in caves.
-Vega Boys - a gang formerly under the leadership of Vega van Dam. Known for their distinct bowler hats and the eccentric, occasionally violent nature of some of their members, they seek to establish a fiercer reputation. Their eccentricity goes rather far - some of them are crazed, bludgeon obsessed warriors who beat themselves as much as they beat their enemies, and others yet have found ways to weaponize their nicotine addiction.
Those known as Vega Dandies appear to take after their former leader, for reasons unknown and best left unanswered - they are nonetheless formidable unarmed fighters.
-Wallies - a group consisting of the employees of Wally's, a fast food chain operating in Olathe. Simply called "Wallies" for short, most would appear to be typical burger joint workers, but they seem to have a strange, almost religious reverence for Wally, the mascot of their chain.
Other groups often possess a similar reverence, due to the Wallies giving out food to those who ask for it (or atleast, will do so several times a day, after which most individuals will be turned away).
Some fear them, claiming they kidnap people to use as meat in their burgers, but those are only rumors...right?
Amongst them are strange men, simply called the Mascots, who wear Wally costume heads at all times, along with body-concealing clothing, making their bodies mostly unseen. Those who encounter them claim to see something wriggling underneath their clothing, but that too is most likely just the rambling of fearful men. Probably.
Returning vanilla weapons - whips, battle axes, short/long swords, spears, crossbows, picks, bows - bows are renamed to hunting bows, the swords and battle axe lack a flat slap, whips are slightly less overpowered, and crossbows can get a bayonet attachment.
Sword-type
Machete - common weaponry, with several variants - aside from standard machetes, there are also cane, billhook, hawkbill, heavy, survival machetes, as well as kukris - cane, heavy, billhook machetes and kukris are only capable of a strong slashing attack, and cannot stab - other machetes can stab, but are better for slashing and chopping.
