Proposal: Heat Sink Bank
Difficulty: Trivial
Result: (2+1)+4=7, Average

Sometimes the best fix is the simplest one. Sometimes it's best to make "good enough". Other times you mash the two together for the simplest "good enough" fix you can find. The Okinasu Empire flexed some ties to the long-lived DuPont industrial chemical company (thanks to favors owed through successful lobbying efforts by DuPont within the empire) and have lifted restrictions on use of freon within empire space in exchange for vast stockpiles of said freon, which there was a lot of - it turns out a chemical that can burn a hole in the atmosphere isn't too popular in a civilization spread across the stars.

Swapping out the coolant for this very cheap alternative was almost a nonissue, so additional work went into replacing the aluminum fins with more efficient fins constructed of graphite. There are more fins now, too. As a result of the modification, the Heat Sink Bank is definitely an improvement on the previous iteration. It isn't groundbreaking and it isn't going to shake anything up, but it's definitely better. And it's still Cheap!


Proposal: ONI-1TO
Difficulty: Hard
Result: (1+1)-1=1, Utter Failure

People often associate the Empire with fine arts, exemplary craftsmanship, and limitless ingenuity. Some of these people may decide to declare the ONI-1TO the project that proved this idea false. Others may claim it proves it true to the furthest extreme.

The cockpit of the ONI-1TO is decked out in dimly glowing colored lights that help create an air of relaxed ambiance in conjunction with the white noise generator mimicking the sounds of a babbling brook. The pilot's seat is made of the finest dark crushed leather over a soft but supportive memory foam. Every button, switch, and lever in the cockpit is modified with RGB lights, and the rail for the catapult system even changes from green to red as the seat catapults past! The floor is also covered in a tasteful carpet bearing an image of the Imperial flag.

The Oni's Bark was also installed in the vacant torso slot, and also includes a ring of neon green lights around the base of the weapon. In fact, tasteful strings of neon lights decorate the entirety of the outside of the ONI-1TO! Especially bright red ones ringing each of the four Subpar Heat Sink Banks on the back of the mech and the one on the front!

The "only" issue is some faulty wiring in each of the mechs. When the Oni's Bark is fired it often shorts out a large number of the extremely numerous lights which tend to all come on at once and, somehow, overwhelm the system just enough to cause a "stutter" in any input from the pilot's controls at the moment power flickers. This surely couldn't be an issue in the middle of a battlefield.

As it fully equips the ONI, the ONI-1TO entirely replaces it. Thanks to the amount of accessorizing they are also Expensive.

As you worked on developments in the sphere of mech warfare, the IDF did not sit idly by. They worked on the following projects: (note: you get no experience for their equipment and cannot requisition it from them - these exist to simulate an evolving battlefield outside of your own direct involvement)

IDF Design: Type 35 "Toigurenedo" 255mm Self-Propelled Artillery
Difficulty: Normal
Result: 6+2=8, Average

The Toigurenedo is a tracked artillery piece built on the chassis of the modern Imperial main battle tank. It does not have much in the way of armor and top speed is lower than average, but where the vehicle falls flat the gun shines. The large shells can be fired out to ranges beyond 50km at a rate of 15 rounds per minute. 150 shells are stored in the large autoloader compartment positioned behind the gun hanging past the rear of the tank chassis, and when that runs dry the weapon can be hand-fed through a breech inside the vehicle. The Toigurenedo can be rapidly reloaded by a utility vehicle equipped with a crane. Rounds are standard High Explosive.


IDF Revision: "Nokku" 255mm Multipenetrator Airburst Shell
Difficulty: Hard
Result: (5+2)-1=6, Average

With the threat of mechs, heavy armor, and fortified positions, the IDF has opted to develop the Nokku. Designed to be fired by the Type 35, the Nokku replaces the high explosive warhead with one packed with a dozen sharpened tungsten carbide rods. A charge inside the shell detonates during flight after it begins returning to the ground, breaking the shell apart and propelling the rods in a shotgun-like blast. The shell is more blunted than is typical, impacting range and accuracy somewhat, but is capable of dealing devastating damage as the oversized nails puncture man and machine both.

This war is rapidly turning against the Empire, so drastic measures are to be taken. While initially planned to be unveiled further down the road, the need for a leg up on our opponents has pushed our timeline forward. Now that we have been forced to make a couple standard bipedal mechs, the restrictions on limbs have been lifted. The only current restrictions that actually still stand are the need for at least one meat-man in the machine and the inability to fly.

We will also be receiving a Mech Credit to take advantage of this...advantage before the Republic can.

Marionette  Wire guided Missile battery.

The marionette is, all told, a brute solution to the mounting of missile weaponry on mechs. The marrionnete is a Missile system, formed from a series of feeding mechanisms, Guidance systems and 4 small missile tubes.
These tubes each mount a “Puppet-1” Class missile, designed for use on enemy armour systems by infantry forces in an over the shoulder launcher. When used by an okina meech, the Marionette launches all four puppets in a rapid volley, each missile connected bac to the launcher by a thin metallic wire. These metallic wires connect the missile to the mech, feeding in its relative data to the systems located inside the weapon mount, and in turn back to the primary computer of the Mech.

Using a simplistic targeting system involving the pilot placing the cross-hair over the target, The missiles are steered via the wire in order to send themselves on a collision course with the target fractions of a second after leaving the tube, until such a time the wire is weakened by the missiles exhaust and burnet away. A small secondary charge clears the wire, leaving the tubes ready for the feeding mechanism to insert another 4 Puppets into the tubes.

While in flight, a Gimbal mounted motor combined with the swift rotations caused by its twin fin system allows the Puppet to rapidly fly through the air with a good degree of stability, even after retargeting itself to the last designated area it had receive before the wire was severed.

Upon impact or the triggering of its magnetic proximity detonator, activated after a safety period to prevent preemptive detonation, The Missile detonates, Shaped charge pushing the majority of the Missiles lead and copper innards forward in a stream of debris and molten metal in order to puncture armour and the rest of its causing out in a storm of debris..
While upscaled due to the presence of feed mechanisms, the guidance systems and such, the 4 tube system is still expected to be mounted inside of a small amount due to the relatively small size of the wire-guided missiles in the first place. Due to the placement of the firing tube below the armour layer, The heat of the missile system is dealt with by the internal heatsinks, In exchange this prevent easy ammo detonation that munitions sitting near the surface allow.

Propective quad mechs for the new credit.

Basically a quad mech built around a spinal gun, in this case the Oni's bark. which is the heaviest thing on the mech, after that its trades some armour in order to reach high speeds, outrunning anything that could match the range bracket of the oni or whatever other medium we stick on there. Quad gives it more stability desi[iet the light weight,and should help with the stride speed. Outrun anything that can fight it, kill everything smaller and pick away at them when their focused on thebig mean Oni.

The other direction of support for the oni, Essentially a big firing platform to stick either Oni's on or other AA/fire support gear. Loses speed and agility for armour, to better brawl from a distance. up close it will have trouble, but that for the oni to do while it blasts away with a big array of weaponry.

Oni Revision OKMOM

The Oni is a work of art.
 If only it operated like one. As such, we have taken some steps to make it more easy to manufacture and run. To start with, the gratuitous light strings on the exterior can now be turned off! Further, they have been moved to highlight armor strongpoints as opposed to critical components, as well as reduced in count. The cockpit remains mostly unchanged, other than changing out the crushed leather seat for easily washable fabric, and reducing the amount of RGBs to only cover the main control bank.

Type 5 "Fukuryu" Mite-Class Rad-Beamer
First things first, anyone referring to the Fukuryu as a "gaser" will be summarily executed.
The Fukuryu operates off the same basic principle as our small lasers, but it uses a gamma ray amplifying gain medium instead of visible light amplifying. We expect the primary effect of this to be much greater range and penetration against all targets while not substantially increasing heat generation. The secondary effect of the gamma ray is of course irradiating everything struck by it, which should prove helpful in clearing bunkers and with long term exposure, knocking out enemy mechs.

Neural Command And Control System "Inari"
The uh, current circumstance we find ourselves has forced us to unveil our latest development earlier than anticipated.
The Inari System interfaces directly with the pilot's brainstem through a plug at the back of the neck, replacing the various control systems currently in use and allowing cockpits to be built much smaller, and obviates the need for a large, complex, gyroscope thanks to input from the pilot's internal sense of balance.
Notably, sensor data is not sent back through the pilot's nervous system, this is because during testing this had a tendency to "overload" the test subjects, resulting in psychosis and eventual brain death, so we've routed sensor info through a helmet HUD, not unlike the type flyboys have been using for centuries now. We have also made sure the use of ejection seats also activates the disconnect switch.

System Unraveling Solvent

These chemical loaded rounds consist of a penetrator tipped round that collapses a payload of highly caustic substance into the impact site. The acid is tuned for steel and electrically conductive components, in order to maximize the criticality of any hits. This is loaded into the Oni's Bark.

MJN-1 "Majin" 70t Assault GunMech
The Majin is a quadrepedal mech with an upright torso on a spider legged base, in total roughly the height of an Oni.
Under each shoulder is a turret with an Oni's bark, each turret has a 180 degree horizontal firing arc with a notable forward slant, meaning it cannot engage targets behind it but can bring both guns to bear on a forward target that displeased it in particular. Vertical guidance is unique because of the positioning, with near 90 degrees downward but only 15 degrees upward, given the profile of a mech, this should be fine. Furthermore, it has two hip turrets currently containing small lasers, as close in mechs were deemed a greater threat to the Majin than infantry. These hip turrets have 190 degree horizontal firing arcs with no slant forwards or backwards, and while the turrets can basically turn 360 degrees vertically, failsafes mean the actual arcs the lasers can be fired are much smaller, 'bout 60 degrees forwards and backwards, so one doesn't accidentally shoot themselves.
To power all this, we had the brilliant idea to duct tape use two Donutstacker-Wasabi type engines in an armored box to power it, though it can run at reduced capabilities on just one engine, should the other need to be shutdown. They allow the Majin trundle along at a decent clip, though it's leg setup is more built for cross-country capability and stability over raw speed. It also powers a more sensible variation on the Oni's RGB lighting that can be activated to heavily disrupt it's silhouette, making it somewhat harder to hit, increasing in effectiveness with range, and significantly harder to critically hit at all ranges, no rgb lights highlighting its 6 heat sink banks.
The armor scheme is admittedly heavily borrowed from the Oni, but we've used some of our spare weight to add some more to key areas. It also retains the ejector seats that have become a staple of our mech design. It's role is in the rear lines, accurately pummeling our enemies in support of brawlers and close in skirmishers.

Literally just the wingcutter but with the line about only being able to target air units removed because it doesn't make any logical sense. It's a missile, you could dumbfire it at a ground enemy if you had to.
