KHALDERAS
A continent splintered during the Age of Strife by the Dark God.

With the Dark God banished by the Six Chosen during the Divine War 288 years ago, the Age of Blood began, leading humanity's return to glory, strength, honor, and prosperity in a scarred yet healing world. From the ruins of Strife, Kingdoms of Blood emerged, parcels of lands granted by the Goddess herself to establish balance in Her Infinite Wisdom, six Emblems crafted to guide and protect the Chosen's descendants.
For as long as holy blood flows in the veins of monarchs, the Dark God shall remain banished.

Yet, as centuries pass, humanity learned that conquest cannot be avoided no matter the age. The only thing changing are the players, but not the game. Thus, wars between descendants of the Six Chosen shifted borders, allegiances and trust.
Wars that ensured the descendants of Fiorae, the Mamkute tribe, ultimatively disappeared from Wyrmpeak, nation of the Chosen Fiorae, in the Year 267, never to be seen again since then.

Both Dunland, nation of the Chosen Charos, and Westwind, nation of the Chosen Ghiran, claimed the lands of Wyrmpeak for their own, Dunland desiring its metal veins and the preservation of Mamkute culture, Westwind desiring the Mamkute Dragonstones that may still remain within Wyrmpeak. Negotiations went on for years yet only managed to stall the inevitable, and the War For Wyrmpeak stirred the continent in the Year 284.
After four gruesome years, the two nations meet for the final battle at Caranbough Hills. Whoever controls this landmark gains superior access to the entirety of Wyrmpeak. A battle overseen by the Kings themselves, King Alfalm of Dunland and King Talos of Westwind.

Only the Goddess knows that one Dunlandic Knight and his entourage are destined to change the course of history forevermore...

Welcome to Fire Emblem on Forums - Heritage of the Chosen!

The ruleset used for this game is the FEF Player's Handbook v2.3.2 and the addition of two mechanics that will be explained below.
Note that this game is intended to be beginner-friendly and thus will not plan to become more mechanically complex beyond that.
It is further recommended to be part of the Bay12 FEF Discord server. A link to the server can be found in the main FEF hub.

You are part of the entourage serving under Sir Dunas of Dunland, the de facto Lord NPC of this game, currently preparing for the upcoming Battle of Caranbough Hills. As long as it encourages your respective character to follow Dunas long-term, most reasons for why your character decided to follow under Dunas' banner is permissible with the notable exception of being a close relative. A hired blade, a thievish orphan of teenage age wishing to repay for Dunas saving them, a squire, these and many more concepts are avaible for you to utilize.


Sir Dunas of Dunland serves under King Alfalm of Dunland, descendant of Charos, the latter being the Chosen of Fire and one of the Six Chosen who banished the Dark God. By default, you are natives to the Dunland, nation of the Chosen Charos. If you wish to hail from a different nation, you will need to describe how you end up serving Dunas and how your origin will not be a conflict to your expected loyalty of Dunas specifically and the King and land of Dunland in general.

You start at First Class (not Trainee Class) at Level 1.

The Six Chosen of the Divine War have been blessed by the Goddess, promising each of them rulership over a region within the splintered continent as a reward for victory against the Dark God. Said Chosen have been given Emblems as both a bloodline "detector" and a shield that can protect those of Blood.
With the disappearance of the Mamkute Tribe, the bloodline of Fiorae is considered lost. Those studying the bloodlines and the history of Khalderas are baffled that the Dark God has not returned despite the lost bloodline and have put in extra effort to find an answer in the books and scolls in the past years, to no avail. There is hope that Minor Fiorae still exists in some outside of the tribe and thus prevents the return of the Dark God, but given the Mamkute tribe's isolationist nature, it is just one of many theories scholars are regularely quarreling about.

Major Blood
Carried by all children of the Six Chosen and the Firstborn of someone who is of Major Blood. All future children of someone that is of Major Blood have a high chance to inherit Minor Blood, although rarely they become Bloodless instead. Children of two different Major Blood parents are a difficult affair and depend on if they would be the Firstborn of both, of one parent, or of neither. If only one parent would conceive a Firstborn, they will be Major Blood of the parent's bloodline. If they would be the Firstborn of both parents, they will become mixed Minor Blood. Otherwise, the rules for non-Firstborn apply, with the additional rare chance of conceiving a child of mixed Minor Blood.
In addition, those carrying Major Blood have an invisible birthmark on their forehead in the form of the respective Crest that glows visibly when they touch each other directly (meaning no cloth must be in the way). To see the glowing Crest on their Firstborn's forehead is a monarch's greatest joy and the birth of a Firstborn is usually celebrated with a nationwide feast. It is tradition for the monarch to provide and stockpile alcoholic beverages in preparation for the feast in the months after the Firstborn has been confirmed to be conceived, and to declare a halt on all wars involving the monarch's nation for up to a year after the Firstborn's birth.

Minor Blood
Carried by those who aren't the Firstborn of a Major Blood parent. They have a chance to pass on Minor Blood, but Bloodless children are just as likely. Parents who both have the same Minor Blood additionally have a rare chance to grant their child Major Blood irrelevant of if they're a Firstborn or not. Children of two different Minor Blood parents usually inherit one or the other, rarely becoming mixed or Bloodless. Mixed Blood parents randomly pass on one or the other Bloodline, never both at once; In other words, no human shall ever be of three Minor Blood at once.
Since Minor Blood tends to be nigh-impossible to detect without an Emblem, it is commonly theorized that in the past centuries, the bloodlines have spread throughout all the nations. For example, while those in Dunland are still majorly Bloodless or of Minor Charos, the other Bloodlines may still appear in Minor form.

Dunland
Nation of the Chosen Charos and his descendants. Dunland prides itself in being a land that hones both steel and brush equally and many to-become-prominent tacticians and soldiers have attended the University of Divine Warfare at least for a year. The University of Divine Warfare had traditionally accepted abroad students from the other nations, although there is currently a higher burden for students from Westwind due to the War for Wyrmpeak.
The island to the north is known as "Darkfall Island" where the Divine War found its climax. As it is considered holy ground, only select people are allowed to set foot on Darkfall Island.

Wyrmpeak
Nation of the Chosen Fiorae and her descendants, the Mamkute tribe. Covered in mountains in the south and forests in the north, it has been naturally treacherous to explore, with only the central land featuring vast plains and gentle hills. Said center also contains Caranbough Hills, considered a strategic landmark that is equally accessible from both Dunland and Westwind.
The Mamkute tribe was a human-like ethnicity capable of unleashing the power of Dragonstones, transforming into the fabled winged beings of the same name. However, with their disappearance, only relatively few Dragonstones have remained within the land and the technique to grow more has become lost.

Westwind
Nation of the Chosen Ghiran and his descendants. The largest of the scarred lands and also the only land still fighting against the remaining Darkspawns from the Age of Strife, Westwind traditionally had the largest standing army and tamed the Wyverns, lesser dragon-like beings of animalistic intelligence living in the Westwind mountains, creating mighty Wyvern riders. However, due to the divine laws of Ghiran himself, they willingly share Wyvern steeds and how to train Wyvern riders, hoping that the sharing of an otherwise powerful advantage would ensure peace between the nations of Blood.
Naturally, due to the War for Wyrmpeak, the export of Wyvern steeds towards Dunland has been stopped as it has been deemed to be in the spirit of Ghiran's divine law.

Alestia
Nation of the Chosen Usala and her descendants. While the northern island has traditionally served as a natural bridge between Westwind and Clavesh, leading to a prosperous mercantile culture, the main island in the south retained the matriarchial system established by Usala herself, with princesses and the daughters of nobles being expected to be taught in the martial ways of Usala for at least three years. The so-called Maiden Warriors see themselves as peacekeepers and intermediaries between the nations, sometimes fighting as free mercenaries whenever a war emerges with the goal to cease fights. Sadly, the War for Wyrmpeak proved even too much for the Maiden Warriors and they could ultimatively only stall the inevitable that is the Battle for Caranbough Hills.

Clavesh
Nation of the Chosen Zio and his descendants. Much of Northern Clavesh is covered in desert while the southern half is prosperous, creating a unique dichotomy that turned Clavesh into a leading powerhouse in science, history, theology and philosophy. The majority of scholars in the continent are Claveshian or attended Claveshian schools and universities and the famous Grand Library of Clavesh, situated at a large oasis within the desert, contains countless documents, artifacts from the Age of Strife and books, several written by Zio himself.
Clavesh also houses the Guild of Archeology who had sharply opposed the War for Wyrmpeak, often making rogue expeditions to study the disappearance of the Mamkute tribe within a warzone.

Gishton
Nation of the Chosen Cuthel and his descendants. Despite its small size, even smaller than Wyrmpeak, and having relatively featureless terrain, Gishton is rich with natural resources and subterranean resources, fittinly turning the people of the Metal nation into artisans, craftsmen, blacksmiths and other comparable fields. Due to being geographically and geologically meaningless in the greater scheme of things, they had comparatively little contact with the other continents and tended to themselves, although they never shy away from trading with the other nations.
Predictably, they have opposed the War for Wyrmpeak, but did little to make active efforts against it aside from slowing down trade with Dunland and Westwind.

Spoiler: Mechanic: Character Bloodline (click to show/hide)

During character creation, you are required to fill out an additional trait: The character's Bloodline. The character is either Bloodless, or of Minor Blood from any of the Six Chosen's bloodlines excluding Fiorae. Mixed Blood is not allowed for your character.
Your character does not have to be aware that they're of Blood and equally can be a Bloodless nobleman convinced they're of Minor Blood.

Either choice grants an additional benefit for your character.

• Bloodless: In a world where nobility and other driven people tends to be dominated by descendants of divine blood, your sheer dedication and willpower granted you a chance to leave your mark in history. You have 6 instead of 4 bonus points for stats. The usual limits apply, and only two of your stats may receive two bonus points at once.
• Minor Charos: Charos is considered a paragon of skill, determination and loyalty. Those who draw lineage to him are excepted to become the same. You gain an additional Free Character Skill of your choice. It must be a Chance Effect, it cannot be the Free version of a Cost Skill you already took, and the chance of the additional Skill is halved (rounded down). Alternatively, if you took a Cost skill, you may choose to reduce your Progression Rate to 305 instead (totalling to 310 after including +5 to your Progression Rate due to starting at First Class).
• Minor Ghiran: Ghiran was like the winter his blessing represented, a harsh exterior hiding much warmth and protection for those who dare to be close to him. You treat your C-Rank Supports as if they are B-Rank and your B-Rank Supports as if they're A-Rank. This only applies to bonuses you'd receive and only after you'd be able to have proper B-Rank supports and A-Rank supports respectively.
• Minor Usala: Usala was a fierce maiden of war, and her descendants often feel a similar drive to be involved in righteous strife. You gain a fourth Personal Skill avaible from the beginning. It must follow the usual rules for Personal Skills.
• Minor Zio: Zio's understanding of nature and magic is unrivaled to this day, and the Grand Library of Clavesh still contains documents he penned that have not been fully understood yet in the centuries after his death. After rolling your Affinity, choose a second Affinity that shares at least three values in the same stats as your rolled Affinity and combine them, taking the higher bonus for each stat.
• Minor Cuthel: A master of both the blade and the forge, he crafted the Emblems under guidance of the Goddess and also the equipment that ultimatively led to the banishment of the Dark God. You have a Progression Rate of 340 (totalling to 345 after including +5 to your Progression Rate due to starting at First Class). Taking a Cost skill still reduces your Progression Rate to 300 (totalling to 305 after including +5 to your Progression Rate due to starting at First Class).

Spoiler: Mechanic: Barrier Points (BP) (click to show/hide)

Certain major characters are - due to their bloodline, their battlefield experience or by sheer destiny - much more resilient and lucky than most other humans. This is represented by Barrier Points (BP), which act like a layer above HP. When damaging a character with Barrier Points, instead of reducing their HP, the damage is first applied to their Barrier Points at a rate of one Barrier Point per 10 damage inflicted (rounded up), with excess damage applied to HP as usual. A character at full HP will regain one lost Barrier Point at the beginning of their turn. Regular healing does not affect Barrier Points.

This is a mechanic purely used for major enemy characters; Player characters will not have access to the mechanic, but may design Personal Skills interacting with it.

Bio: Among the noble families of Dunland, one headed by Marchioness Brand has the ear of many noble linages. Her family excels in producing those of noble blood, and their children grow up to excel in several areas. With that said, they are a minor blood family. Artair Brand is a young noblewoman of no blood, with her father in a coma and no mother. She is ineligible to inherit the seat by order of her grandmother. While this would cause a rift, with her father unable to countermand such, Altair will not inherit. But this is a reality she has lived with for years now, groomed to take up the sword and achieve military accomplishment in her family's name. With the war going on, she has been placed under Knight Dunas' entourage, entering the ongoing conflict between the nations.
It is not what her father would have wanted for his children. It is not what Altair wanted to do with her life, the endless fighting. But she had a duty assigned to her, to fight in the Brand's name and perhaps make a place for herself in this world, no matter what plots occur in her family's background.

Bio: A lowborn soldier native to Dunland. A self-made woman making her way through the world via her skill with an axe and her iron will. If pressed, she'll say that because of one particular noble's meddlings, her father may as well be dead to her, and she never had the chance to know her mother at all. As far as anyone can tell, she's just under Dunas in the hopes of getting close to the target of her vendetta, though a more discerning eye might notice that she helps where she can and isn't required to.

The daughter of an Alestian blacksmith and innkeeper, Tanja was raised in a North Alestian port city, an urbanized hub of commerce that brought a constant influx of travelers from all over the Khalderan archipelago into her family home.

Trained to use the forge, and mind the inn from an early age, Tanja found brief respite in the ballads that a local bard would perform every other night. The tales of valor and heroism by the chosen and their descendants alike inspiring the young girl to entertain fantastical, if ill defined dreams of greatness, often banding together with groups of like minded children to play pretend at war, and regale each other with one tall tale after another.

But while the dream faded for many of her friends, it only grew clearer in Tanja’s mind with every passing year. Until she found herself no longer content with simply hearing or recounting the heroism and valor of others, and yearned to carve out a place in history for herself, and have the bards sing praises of her name throughout the age.

And yet, many more uneventful years would pass before an opportunity presented itself, when the warring kingdoms of Dunland and Westwind called upon ‘foreign volunteers’ and mercenaries alike to bolster their own ranks. The promise of adventure, excitement, and heroism struck a chord within the young Alestian, who chose to leave everything behind. Bringing along nothing but the clothes on her back, a small coin purse, and a self made sword she didn’t know how to wield to the nearest recruiter, who was eventually convinced to sign her on despite her inexperience, for her skill as a blacksmith and cook if nothing else.

But it didn’t take long before reality began to catch up with her, bit by bit. While she imagined herself with sword in hand, and her head held high as she charged from one glorious moment after another, what she got was a spear, a slightly oversized suit of armor, and a nigh endless march that wore a little on her enthusiasm. Still, she tried her best to take it in stride, putting her all into the basic training she was given, and spending what little free time she had to practice with her blade, mastering one wrong way to swing a blade after another in secret.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long before the others noticed her nighttime excursions, and while most simply laughed or shook their heads in disbelief, there was one who stood out among the rest. She didn’t laugh, she simply pulled Tanja aside, sighed, and told her that she can’t in good conscience let someone like that carry a sword around, but seeing as they would be fighting together, she might as well try to teach her how to wield one tonight, just enough to keep her from hurting herself of course.

She took that first lesson, and the promise of another to heart as she fought and bled in her first battle. The dreams of heroic glory, the thought of finally mastering the blade, and absolutely nothing else keeping her steadfast where others would falter. Until at last the enemy was routed, the battle was won, and the swordswoman would find herself frankly baffled at Tanja’s continued survival, in a cycle of hard fought battle and training that would repeat itself time and time again.

And yet, even as she grew in experience and pay, even as her standing amongst the other mercenaries changed from the laughing stock that she was to a respected veteran, something was still missing from her life. She certainly did her best to be upright and honorable in all of her doings, and her fellow mercenaries would tell tall tales of her valor and skill at arms, but it just wasn’t enough somehow. There was still that look of disdain in the eyes of her superiors, and even among the common soldiery, who saw her as nothing more than a common mercenary at best loyal, who was only to gold, and a gloryhound and poseur at worst.

It gnawed at her, the thought or fear that no matter what she did, and no matter what she accomplished, that she would never be seen as anything more. But something clicked in Tanja’s mind as her thoughts drifted back to home, as a simple solution presented itself from the ballads she still knew by heart. The Maiden Warriors, everyone has heard of them, everyone knows and respects them for the heroes they are, and everyone knows that they offer their services to whichever side or cause they believe in.

Of course, technically speaking, the Maiden Warriors are noblewomen one and all, and she was as lowborn as they came, but did that really matter? She could fight as hard and well as any of them can, and she was as chivalrous and honorable as they come. And if she acted like one, and fought like one, then who in their right mind would ever say otherwise? All she had to do was leave, and find someone who would actually believe her.

With her mind made up, Tanja had one last toast with her former companions, and left the past two years of her life behind, bringing nothing along but a battered and well worn sword, and a hefty sum of money. Which she mostly spent on a new breastplate, and an outfit that would better suit such a fine and upstanding heroine as herself.

It took a fair bit of effort before she could find someone eager enough to hire a ‘genuine’ Maiden warrior that she could finesse them into glossing over the petty details of her past, but when she did it was worth every moment. As long as they believed her, she was more than just another expendable mercenary to press into battle, she was an inspiration, a fellow knight, and a heroic volunteer to treat with the respect one deserves. And whenever the ‘magic’ started to wear off, whenever someone got too suspicious, or looked too deeply into her past. She could always cite the maiden warrior’s oath, and leave to try again with a different knight, or a different commander.

But in her mind, it wouldn’t be long until she could stop pretending, until it would simply be unthinkable to see her as anything less than the noble warrior she claimed to be. Unfortunately, her own arrogance would soon catch up to her, and after a seemingly routine interview, she found herself blindsided with an offhand comment made by her new commander, that he must be the luckiest man in the world, after all, how many could boast to have two maiden warriors in their retinue?

Bio: The magnificent and totally legit street magician, Lulu, arrives on the scene with no ulterior motives whatsoever! I promise!

Abandoned by her parents at a young age, Lulu had to scrape by on scraps just to get by every day. She’s even forgotten her last name if she had one nor did she realize she has divine blood flowing through her, not that it really matters to her since she had bigger things to worry about on the daily. Resorting to stealing & pickpocketing to get her basic meals met, her method would take a sharp turn when a wandering circus troupe made their way into the small town she was residing in. The show inspired immensely as she had a new goal, to become as great of a performer as they were. The troupe even gifted her a set of playing cards to practice with.

However, practicing silly card tricks couldn’t put food on her table… or could it? Turns out these tricks also provided the means to distract her victims just long enough for her to swipe a coin purse or two. As her card & performance skills improved so too did the hauls of pilfered jewelry & gold. Soon she could afford some fancy clothing she was always so envious of as a rat in the gutter.

Then, one day a new venture made itself available to her. A chance to work with the knights. She spent her life running hiding from the law, but what if she turned the tables? A long con, get in with the knights and when they grant her enough trust, rob the treasures of a King! Ha! This is an ingenious idea! Lulu surely isn’t getting in over her head and she surely won’t make any friends that may keep her from her original goal of robbing the King! Besides, she knew how to defend herself. If she didn’t, she’d be dead long ago. So, appling with her unique roguish skills, Lulu begins her most ambitious con yet!

Bio: Eiriol calls herself a wandering mercenary who definitely has no connection to any noble house. Which anyone with half a brain would know is a lie. Given the quality of her clothing and fighting style be obviously that as someone trained in the styles of the Warrior Maidens of Alestia…and her not thinking to use a pseudonym when introducing herself.

Which quickly reveals to anyone that she is one the children of the Myrick family. A relatively recent Noble family who were once (and still are) a very wealthy merchant family, very well known for their cutthroat practices (and other shady dealings). They gained their title when the head of the family at the time bought their way into nobility and since then they have been marrying into various other families and bloodlines in an attempt to gain legitimacy as nobles that was backed by more than copious amounts of money.

While her other siblings share the cunning and ruthlessness that her family is known for, Eiriol…doesn’t. Preferring her to use her time to play mercenary and being conned out of any money she does get from it by rather simple scams. Though she never seems to carry any resentment towards those who do but rather praise them for outsmarting one such as her. Which after one such incident led her taking on a contract from the Knights of Dunas and preparing for the  Battle of Caranbough Hills.

Bio:
The Ragnvald family is one of the oldest families of the nation of Alestia. The Ragnvald family claims descent from Usala directly, through one of her many daughters, to the extent that their family crest combines the motif of a lion with the crest of Usala. Though the crest of Usala is traditionally associated with thunder, the Ragnvald have felt more affinity with the wind; it is the wind that bears storms both to and away. Unlike most who claim descent from Usala, history largely sides with the Ragnvalds, in large part because minor Usala blood has run consistently through the house of Ragnvald. Traditionally, the Ragnvald family head is one who possesses the blood of Usala, minor or not; their most famous matriarch, Gunnthra Ragnvald, over a hundred years ago, possessed major Usala blood and achieved great things as a Maiden Warrior to keep peace amomg the nations, and it is her example whom all Ragnvald heirs, male or female, seek to emulate. Traditionally, the firstborn heiress of the Ragnvald becomes a Maiden Warrior for a while, before returning home to take over the family with their experiences from their travels; with the connections the Ragnvalds gain from being a Maiden Warrior, their experiences generally grant them experience and connections other Alestian nobles would kill for.

Emilia Ragnvald is the current heiress to the Ragnvald. Though not the oldest child -her older brother Patrice was born a few years before she was-, she nonetheless was groomed to become heir to the Ragnvald seat, and ended up helping to raise her younger siblings. Patrice was a guiding influence upon his younger sister, and helped train her to take her role as the Ragnvald heir. However, as she underwent the martial training that all noble daughters and princesses of Alestia undergo, something became apparent; she was a good administrator, and could easily run the mercantile family that the Ragnvald family had become in the ages since Gunnthra's reign, but she was much better at fighting. Indeed, those familiar with Ragnvald history and of the more superstitious bent spread conspiratorial whispers of her being the reincarnation of Gunnthra herself, for she resembled her famous ancestor in appearance and possessed the same skill. When she entered the Maiden Warriors, however, the parallels became even more obvious, especially when she caused no small amount of scandal by asking Patrice to take over the Ragnvald seat against his protests. Emilia proved her skill and talent among the Warriors, and participated in some humanitarian missions before the War for Wyrmpeak. Indeed, she had no small amount of respect among her peers, and often assumed a motherly role to her allies, aided by her talent for healing.

The Maiden Warriors, as Alestia views them traditionally, are peacekeepers. Even upon the battlefield, the Maiden Warriors attempt to minimise the loss of life as much as humanly possible. It was the War for Wyrmpeak that would prove to be Emilia's trial by fire. She served loyally among a unit of Maiden Warriors who sought to minimise the damage to civilians and Emilia felt herself driven to protect those hard-done by the war. She and her comrades became respected among the littlefolk they assisted, as maidens who prioritised saving the lives of others over battle. However, as the war drew on, the idealism of Emilia's companions waned, and many began to trickle back home to Alestia, if they had not fallen, convinced that they could do no more to help. The war had proven more than a match for many of the Maiden Warriors who had joined simply out of obligation, or because, in the years since the days of old, the posting had become one of prestige, rather one of respect.

But not Emilia.

Eventually, only Emilia herself remained of her comrades who had gone to minimise the loss of life. But where others had lost faith, she continued to hold hers. She presevered alone, saving whom she could from the war, despite having minimal supplies and manpower. A fierce battle injured Emilia, leaving her with injuries that reduced her effectiveness, but after some recuperation, she pressed on. Eventually, after some difficult adventures and companions, she encountered Dunas of Dunland, and took up with his entourage. It is for this reason she rides alongside him at the eve of the Battle of Caranborough Hills, all the while wondering if she can save but one more life....

Bio:
Born to a diligent and studious father of Minor Zio blood and is from Clavesh, and a kind mother who does not carry a divine bloodline born in Dunland, Oriana is a talented youth who strives to become a wise and knowledgeable magic-user.

However, her parents have ever been arguing about how their sole daughter should pursue her career path. Her father wanted her of course to keep pursuing knowledge and magic power to be a highly renowned scholar and in the future, to teach the new generation to learn about magic, while her mother wanted to prioritize more ordinary life goals for her: to make friends and maintain harmony and peace for all nearby to her.

Because Oriana's parents are trying to push her into either one of these goals, she couldn't focus on her studies well, and she finds that her first impression to attempt to befriend someone is awkward and unsuccessful. She finds it hard to impress one person, let alone many, while also struggling to pursue further knowledge that gets harder the further to learn... She might be shy and submissive for now and is not very confident in her abilities, but she'll always get the better of it soon, like a flower that stays closed until it blooms when its time has come.

Now, by chance, she has to part ways with her parents to live in one of the settlements in a town, in Dunland. Aside from continuing to pursue knowledge despite no longer in Clavesh, she's also studying about the local life and geology in Dunland. One day, when she was travelling nearby the capital city border, the first thing she saw are training and drills of recruits (some of which are new) of the Dunland army. She backed off a bit at first, but then that's where found a notice for applicants for the University of Divine Warfare. She might be not a woman of words, but she definitely can find knowledge there. It just happens that while she's looking for where she could apply to it, she happens to meet a certain knight of this land...

Bio
Sverrand is the son of a former Dunland knight and a common stablehand he'd fallen in love with during his tenure. Brave, honorable, and just, his father was the picture of a true knight; his tragic death during the prime of his life did nothing to sully this image, instead inspiring countless soldiers to model their conduct after stories of his deeds. Unfortunately, while his father's legacy lived on, Sverrand's family did not. His mother died of grief within weeks of her husband, leaving their son in the care of his paternal uncle. The boy was never quite the same after that.

Sverrand's uncle was perhaps not a cruel man, but neither was he a kind one. A former soldier relieved from his post due to a leg injury that never properly healed, he decried the tenets of knightly valor as utter crock fed to self-important young idiots. Men should fight and die for their country because it was what they were told to do, not for their stupid "honor". Following orders and following them well was the only thing that mattered to him, and soon, it was all that mattered to his nephew, too.

Sverrand's uncle told him to do most of the labor and chores around their home, so he did. Sverrand's uncle told him to learn how to use a spear to fight for his country, so he did. Sverrand's uncle told him to make something of himself and enlist in the town guard, so he did. Brawny, brusque, and beholden to nothing except the word of his superior, Sverrand made an exemplary militiaman. His performance was such that he was eventually promoted to second in command to the captain of the guard himself. But, as important as the job was, it was ultimately a small thing. To truly serve his country he needed to aim higher. So, at his uncle's order, he soon enlisted in the army.

Sverrand continued to be highly praised for all the work he did as a soldier of Dunland. Point him at an objective and he would see it completed, come hell or high water. No task was too menial for him, and no goal unattainable. Though his fellows regarded him as an unapproachable hardass (at best), his commanding officer had nothing but good things to say about the man. Both loathed the day when Sverrand was handpicked to join the entourage of one Knight Dunas; his former superior because it was the loss of the best soldier that had served under him in a decade, and Sverrand because it meant taking orders from a knight instead of a real officer.

But at the end of the day he was a soldier, and good soldiers follow their orders, no matter who they come from.

Bio: Born to Dunland villagers, Rork had spent his young life as son to a local huntsman, learning the unforgiving mountains as part of the plan to take over the family trade as providers for the village. However, young Rork was too hot blooded and resistant to authority to stomach being told his life would stay like this for forever and a day, and so he planned an escape to see the world and come back home one day. The only person he told was a childhood friend on the night he left, a woodsmans axe slung over his shoulder and no destination or provisions in mind.

Had Rork not been brought up by an experienced woodsman, and not been lost trying to find the nearest town, he would have starved to death on the rocky mountainsides his people called home. At the very least his skill in tracking and reading the woods allowed him to avoid patrolling soldiers or roving bandits for a time, and he fed himself in the way he had been taught: Never take more than you need, and always pay back the land for feeding you lest it deem you unworthy of survival.

His luck eventually ran out, causing him to run into a pack of bandits. They had begun migrating due to the heavy patrols from Dunland’s authorities, set against them in particular for a daring raid on a royal caravan containing who knows what. The bandits interrogated him, but their leader stepped in when he realized the young man had no attachments to Dunland royalty besides their shared birth nation, recruiting the young man to his gang. It was hardly for charity, as the crafty leader had realized having someone who knew the land would be of more use than ever, especially when it came to not starving.

Years passed as Rork tempered himself, keeping from being one of the boss' 'examples' by learning when and where he could speak. Turned from hot-headed youth to taciturn bandit, he still attempted to follow his old credo of giving back where he could and refusing to take more than he needed, even when his fellow bandit forced him to break code to survive. He grew adept at learning the pattern of patrols and the movement of small soldier groups, not due to education, but because of a need to survive and avoid conflict with heavily armed soldiery defending the roads.

Said understanding had him realize something, long before news of the war for Wyrmpeak's daunting mountains reached them by way of an abused merchant. The number of soldiers patrolling had increased, and encampments had sprung up where none should be. There was no way an entire army was being mobilized to hunt down brigands, even ones as slippery as his gang. So, he made a decision and prepared.

One night when the moon shone bright, he stole out of camp with provisions and a trusty axe, stealing away towards the border and back home. He had a plan, and that was to enlist with the Dunland army. His past had to remain shrouded, but playing the country bumpkin eager to die for his country would help others overlook his secrecy. So long as he kept his mouth shut and remembered to keep himself alive, he could make a name for himself and, perhaps, go back home with honor and money enough to live comfortably.

Bio: Maria Rotgold is the second child of the rotgold family and as such, never expected to take up all the responsibility that comes with being the heir of the bloodline. When she was a child, she lost herself in books, reading and writing stories of fantastic heroes, mythical creatures and other tales she would recite to her sister Elanor whenever she got dismissed from the training she was supposed to undergo. Maria was expected to undergo the same martial training once she was old enough, but she quickly proved to be rather unfit for such training, and given she wasn't gonna represent the house, her family allowed her to focus on her studies of the arcane arts
She was happy that way, and took her productive time to read up on dark magic, which she personally just considers another form of power, much like swords and lances aren't inheritly good or evil. In the end, the person wielding such a weapon decides if it is used for good, or for ill.
When her elder sister Elanor died in battle as a Maiden warrior, the younger sister was next in line.

Never expecting to take up so much responsibility at once, she only continued to study even more vigirously. Hoping to prove to her parents (And herself) that she was just as much of a fit for this position as her Sister, and to honor her memory by applying everything she learned from her.
The problems occured now that she was expected to do what her sister was taught from a very young age, in a matter of months. Not even having time to process the death of her sibling, she was already tasked to take up the Name and honor of her family and present them in a favorable light.
Maria did as she was told, following every single demand that she was told to keep up with. And slowly withdrawing more and more into her stories whenever she could still find the time to do so. There, she was everything her Family dreamed of. A noble cavalier, riding into battle on a trusted Stead to strike fear into the hearts of her enemies, and inspire her fellow comrades to equal acts of bravery and heroism. Not some bookwyrm that couldn't wield a sword right if her life depended on it.
Feeling the weight of everyone putting their hopes and expectations onto her was, eventually, too much. She decided to go, walk away from this life. She wasn't Maria Rotgold anymore, she was the heroine she always dreamed she could be, the heroine that could make her family and everybody that was counting on her proud.

She travelled to Dunland, not speaking of her heritage or her homeland, introducing herself only as an unsung hero, practicioner of the dark arts who was left out from all the tales due to her profession. But she was intend on changing that. And Knight Dunas of Dunland opened her up this very opportunity. Being part of a battle that would go into the books of history surely should make her the immortal hero she always dreamed to become one day.
