As if to prove that the PDF can be just as accurate as the Guard, the loader of the machine gun picks up his stubber and makes a good faith effort to shoot the Ork that winds up as nothing.

Flamer PDF makes another attempt to fix his weapon. He fails again. His eyes look to the fallen trying to find something that actually works to use.

((I'm guessing part of it is that "low level" encounters are balanced around a lot of missing because nothing can take very many hits. A way to draw out fights longer when reasonably we'd be feeling the pain from just a couple Slugger shots.))

((A mixture of several factors I guess.

The Rolls are really bad. Half your guns would be joining the flamer in Jamsville if they weren't Reliable. This has also gone for the Orks for their pinning rolls.

The penalties are also really big. I went over most of them before. This is partially my fault, since I designed what this game considers to be a long range engagement. This is partly game design, since it is made so melee characters can have a fighting chance of getting close to ranged ones. The Running + Vehicle Moving Penalty is really hard to get over. Keep in mind that if you got closer your Chimera would automatically splat them if you passed a single Ram roll. Also keep in mind this would have taken a few minutes in an in-person game.

Finally everyone involved in this fight is a low-level n00b. As far as the game is concerned all the PCs are fresh-out-of-bootcamp recruits with potential to become heroes. They're weaker at the start than someone playing RT, so they'll miss more. Especially since we only have one character focused on Shooting things.))

The Ork is now pinned! Well he would have been pinned anyway, but now he's super pinned. Unable to enter melee he lootz a stub rifle from the ground, ripping off the trigger guard so he can use it with his massive hands.

With nobody shooting at the Rocket Ork, he has recovered his bravery. He loads up a new rocket into his haphazard launcher.

Still far out of the range of their guns, the Orks with Guns continue to rush forward.

Across the battlefield there are many sounds. Gunfire and explosions being the most common, but there is a strange new sound joining them. A distant roar of an engine? One quite less subtle than your Chimera?

You hit Stubber Ork with both blasts from your lascarbine. They land on his unarmored right arm, causing it to go limp and drop the new found weapon in it. The brute dumbly tries to get the arm to move with his other hand with little practical success. Axe/Stubber ork is now disarmed ork.

((Oh I probably should have brought this up earlier. Lasguns have three settings: Normal, Overcharged (+1 damage double ammo cost), and Overload (+2 damage +2 Pen X4 ammo cost and now unreliable). Unless otherwise specified I'll assume you're using Normal.))

Bahzil looks around confused for a moment, and then shouts at Gunnar, shaking slightly. Alrin looks quite worried.

“Why have we stopped!? The orks are over there! Move over there!”

Your worry seems to have transferred to your weapon. It suddenly refuses to fire, despite the famed reliability you where promised while training with it.

Alrin looks at your jammed lasgun like it is somehow your fault.

Also, that should be a lasgun blast, not my lascarbine.  Good quality lasgun was my pick from Weapons Specialist.

In that case you got a third hit to the body. This one does the laser equivalent of bouncing off his chest to no effect.

Orks are truly terrifying foes capable of taking punishment that would tear a man to pieces.

Gunnar returns to the driver seat and begins erratically driving the vehicle in the general direction of the rokkiteer! Now its going to be even more difficult to hit you!

I don't keep forgetting the allies they just get their own post because they're special.

Flamer-PDF picks up the stubber the ork just dropped and shoots its former master point-blank. At this distance he manages to hit twice, both in the Ork's large and armored Body. The fact the Ork was stunned from the lasgun attack also helped. It falls back a few meters as odd Orkish blood sprays from its wounds across the trench. Its body joins the pile.

Proving that we can still miss, the machine gun team lets forth another burst at the still distant gunner orks. They once again continue charging forward regardless of the danger.

Should I be worried about ammo? Since it's an MMG mounted on an APC it feels like I'd not have to worry about needing to reload or run out for quite a while.

If that's the case, suppress the rokkiteer again. Not gonna hit anything but I may as well keep his head down during our glorious charge.
