Hey, potentially new player! Ever wanted to play Mafia, but really scared about playing and then realize we fill up our games stupid fast? Want to play one of the fun games, but scared about being new? Are you wanting to play something closer to a Forum Game than regular Mafia?
This is Bring Your Own Role Mafia, where you submit a role name to me (and preferably a wiki link, if it's not something commonplace.) What roles are available? Pretty much anything! Want some ideas? Look in the spoiler!
Pick your favorite character from a book, movie, or TV show. (i.e. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, Pikachu, etc.)
Pick an attack, spell, or special move from an anime or video game. (i.e. Kamehameha, Meteor, Time Stop, etc.)
Pick an object (Light Bulb, B-52 Bomber, Nanomachines, etc.)
Pick a place (Stonehenge, Paris, Texas, etc.)
Pick a person (George Washington, Leonardo Da Vinci, Genghis Khan, etc.)
Pick a silly combination (A Burning Waffle House off I-95, Ten Space Marines Playing My Little Pony, Freeze Tag But With Giant Hands, etc.)
Hopefully, these ideas might help you think of something.
How to join:- First, post that you are
in in bold. New players will always get priority.
- Second, send your preferred role name to me, webadict.
- Third, I will notify you when the game starts, with your role.
These sign-ups may be longer than other games because this game is geared specifically for newer players.
How to play:Never played before? Have no fear! We have a couple players that will try their best to help you play. All that you need to do is if you're Town, you need to find the Mafia, and if you're Mafia, you need to survive until the end, and murder your fellow Townies at Night! Since this is a BYOR, all players will have a role.
Here's some boring rules!
Rules:- We will start on Night 0. There are no kills allowed.
- Hammers are in effect. That means if a majority vote is reached, the Day ends. Please cease talking at that point until the Day is processed.
- Days 1 and 2 will last 72 hours. Days 3 and on will be 48 hours. Nights will always be 24 hours. Weekends will count for 24 hours.
- There will be no extensions or shortens, except in special circumstances (Hammers will always end the Day, so if you wish to shorten the Day, HAMMER!) If you require a replacement, please notify me as soon as possible. Things happen, do not worry about it!
- Vote in
bold and red, for clarity. I will use a bot to read votes named Mamobo, and will posts vote counts at least once per Day, though you may ask for a vote count at any time.
- No PMing to anyone but me, the mod.
- No Quoting of the Mod in relation to PMs. You are free to quote anything in the thread. You may paraphrase your PM, but if you break this rule, you will be penalized.
- Semi-hammers in effect. Days last on a soft 72 hours, unless a majority is voting for any player or No Lynch. If a player is hammered, there is to be no more talking. If you accidentally post something after the hammer, you can and should edit out the post.
- Official Votecounts will be posted once every 24 hours.
- Nights last 24 hours or whenever all the actions are sent in. If you do not wish to action, please send a PM stating so.
- Weekends count for 24 hours.
- RULE CHANGE: There are no Extensions allowed.
- There may be Post Restrictions. These should not interfere with gameplay.
- I cannot answer questions about a player's role unless that player's role is available to be seen (e.g. Roleflips.) I cannot answer questions about your role in thread. I can, however, answer generic questions. I will simply ask you to rephrase the question, if I deem the question is bad.
Also, for those without knowledge of how I style roles, here's a little cheat sheet!
Common questions:
Q. What is a Cycle/Phase?
A. A Cycle is a Day and Night Phase.
Q. Can I use more than one ability during a Phase?
A. Not unless your role specifically states as such.
Q. Can I self-target?
A. Not unless the action specifically states that you can. It is now labelled [target/self] or [self] for easy viewing!
Q. Can I target 2 or more people?
A. Only if stated in the action with [target x(some number)].
Q. If my action doesn't have a Phase to be used in, can I use it any time?
A. Yes!
Q. Can I Mafiakill and use an ability on the same Night?
A. This counts as using two abilities, so not unless you are allowed to use two abilities.

ADDENDUM: I will now be placing a priority order on your Night actions. These should now be listed as P{-1 - 10}, with Priority -1 being the fastest, and Priority 10 being the slowest. They should roughly line up with the actions above, but exceptions might be made. Triggered abilities are actions that trigger on the action resolution step that activates the ability.
ADDENDUM: If a player is not a viable target at the time they are actioned, the action fails. Players will be notified of this failure. Any limited shots will be refunded if an action is blocked or fails.
ADDENDUM: I may add tags, to help easily identify specific types of actions. This will likely not matter to most people
Sign-ups:
New players will get priority! If the sign-ups are filled and you're a new player, I will remove an experienced player for you! It would be preferred to have at least 2 experienced players to help out, but if we get 9 new players, then we'll simply play like that!- BluarianKnight
