AmeriPols Thread: Supreme Court of the United States
« on: June 03, 2022, 01:52:37 pm »

Thread for discussion of recent decisions/controversies/etc. regarding the United States Supreme Court.
Feel free to keep discussing this in the AmeriPol thread, but I was recently reminded that Politics is toxic and needs to remain in Politic-flagged threads.

No remedy against Border Patrol Harassment of citizens
Seems like a constitutional problem where unless a law is passed in congress specifically creating the legal basis for a case, nothing can be done, versus a commonwealth law case where they would just search for a precedence or create a new one if one did not exist

The contradiction between the US's hard war on drugs and the US turning a blind eye to overprescription of opioids is a funny juxtaposition

It makes total sense if you understand laws exist to help the Rich oppress the Poor.

That's not true. The law in its fairness forbids both the rich and poor from begging on trains

That quote came from some rich fuck.  Because poor people benefit more from begging on trains than rich people, and because rich people can beg at dinner parties that poor people can not afford to attend. I'd eat dicks too if I got the money Lockheed Martin gets, and I don't doubt this parody is closer to reality than intended.

I'm reminded of the rainbow flag predator drones

Like those Yemeni children are really going to be #inspired when you blow up their funeral with #lgbt hellfire missiles

Hope nobody minds a history lesson, but the Left Judges can make awful decision also:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelo_v._City_of_New_London
The left, which by this decision no longer deserves the title Liberal, found it A-OK for a city to take land from one private citizen and give it to another private citizen under eminent domain, due to "Economic benefits are a permissible form of public use that justifies the government in seizing property from private citizens."

Yet, in this case there was insufficient funding to develop the land, and it still remains vacant.

I thought that was Kelo vs City of London and was briefly most confused
