Three years ago, a young man named Cedric von Sachsen has risen in rebellion against Queen Sophia of Angeborten, swiftly exposing the treachery that she used to rule her subjects with iron will through the hands of her Consort. It was a struggle of epic proportions, numerous betrayals and dissappointments, and bloody battles. Now, as Cedric's lack of skill at governance and unstable behavior begins to show, fears rise amongst populace that yet another civil war might strike Angeborten, already devastated from previous conflict.

But this is not that story.

Three months ago, the combined forces of Herzgottia and Sterlitz rushed across the border of Inselkonige, ready to push the invaders from the north back into the sea. Common soldiers and upper class noblemen, united in purpose, are ready to sacrifice their lives in the name of Sigismund the Man-King to achieve their goal, or die trying. A war on scale that wasn't seen on the continent in generations is about to unfold, taking place on land, in the skies, and on the seas.

But this is not that story, either.

The story we will follow begins on an afternoon in a remote castle near Gallian-Tatalian border. A Gallian Princess is visiting her best friend and cousin, a Tatalian noblegirl named Cecilia. Their joyous meeting and occassion for frivolties will soon be violently interrupted. Their tragedy will sow the seeds of an even larger drama that will see betrayal, bloodshed and death across both borders...

Backstory:
The first son of Baron D'Alembert, who is the third cousin of the brother by marriage of the uncle of the current Gallian emperor, or the uncle of the emperor's second cousin's... Jean-Luc doesn't quite care. Trained since childhood in court fencing and intriguing, he's shown quite a skill in both, but is really not interested in the whole protocol and foppery of the noble life.

Instead, Jean-Luc is fond of upsetting stuck up nobles with his carefree attitude, and has a particular knack in sniffing out scandalous or hypocritical behavior, which he takes great joy in mocking them and exposing them for it. Though a dangerous game to play, Jean-Luc usually ends up unscathed from the fallout of the chaos he creates.

After hearing news from the Tatalian border, Jean-Luc decides to travel to investigate, though officially he has taken leave to enjoy the scenery of the northern beaches, as he put it in the letter he left to his father.

Bio: Gallia was orphaned from a bandit attack by knights with all her memories gone. At age 13, with no others who knew of her, the knights who slew them took her to their lord. Lord Wachttorenchose chose to give her a place as a servant. From there, she slowly opened back up as she learned how to clean, take care of the animals, and do other duties. It included training with the staff in preparation for eventually taking care of any future children the family had. While reading and writing lessons were needed, she seemed to have some experience with them.
So it went, and her personality began to shine through as she reached age 21 and was given to help care for Lady Cecilia. Watching over her, she also read stories of knights and fantasy to her, and as Cecilia grew up watched on as she did less ladylike activities and participated in a few of them. In some ways, Gallia did a great job. Cecila is confident and has quite a heart. But in others, she likely caused a few headaches for Lord Wachttorenchose by not being as strict as they might have expected. Was that because of her own tomboyish nature being suppressed while she was closed off? Or was it Cecilia's natural inclinations? None can say. The Gallia of today is energetic to keep up with her young charge, willing to keep up and heal her when she gets hurt and fight by her side when needed. Though she still remains a bit closed off to strangers.

Backstory: Haakon has been called many names since his birth. The first was Falkrsson, after the noble blood coursing through his veins, and as he came down with one illness after another in his childhood his mother called him Gerpir (Brave) and Inn Strangi (Strong), as she prayed over his bed each night. And when he grew old enough to come into his own, and cast off the weakness of his youth, the men and women about town know him Haakon the Fair, Haakon the Handsome, and once too many as Haakon the Quick-Shot.

But when the old king of Norgemark passed, and his ever ambitious sons sought to claim a crown for the other to wear, Haakon the Dandy was one of many knights called upon to fight in their king's name, and it was Iron-Ore Haakon who came home after a decade of war to kneel beside his father's deathbed as he named his successor, and left Haakon the Unprepared with little but his name, and the riches won by his own hand.

Riches that brought no comfort to Haakon the Goldbearer as he swore fealty to his brother, who sought to mend fences (or perhaps remove a potential rival) by arranging his marriage with Countess Ghyslaine of House Allard. An ambitious Tatalian noblewoman who sought to strengthen ties with her Norgemarkian trading partners, and perhaps secure a valuable alliance to further secure her rule against her sibling's claims.

It was a warm summer's day when Haakon the Groom tied the knot, a sweltering afternoon when they had their first 'real' conversation, and a cold night when he first began to know her. It wasn't love back then but he liked her company well enough, and she her new alliance, perhaps it could have become something more given time, but barely a year passed in her company, before he received two more names both good and ill.

With the birth of their son he was Haakon the Elder, a proud father of a future count, but with the death of his wife he was Haakon the Widow, the sole guardian of a newborn child who stands to inherit a coastline coveted by the uncles his mother had worked so hard to keep in czech. All of her best laid plans laid low by a single child, who's fate rested entirely in his hands. He could walk away, renounce his son's claims, and leave him with nothing as was his father's lot, or he could 'play' the same game as his wife, and seek out a patron with the only thing he could offer in exchange, himself.

He chose the latter, and brought his young son to the court of the van de Wachttoren dynasty, a neighboring noble power his wife had maintained cordial relations with. He offered his skill at arms, his wealth, and perhaps even his hand in marriage, anything he could offer in exchange for their support. It took almost a week of petitions, tense negotiation, and perhaps a few bouts of outright pleading, but they would eventually settle on an accord. Haakon would swear an oath, swearing over holy relics to the Eternal Light itself (on pain of death and ruin for his family and eternal damnation for himself) to serve the van de Wachttoren's faithfully as Cecilia's defender and keeper until his son reaches majority, and in exchange the Wachttoren's would in turn swear the same for his son, raising him in their estate almost as if he was their own.

Backstory:

Stefan is the son of one of Tatalia's famed pegasus riders, an incredibly minor noble-little more than a commoner who'd managed to win a knighthood-who made her fortune as a mercenary, fighting in a dozen different places. Having accomplished this, she returned to her homeland and settled down to a somewhat more sedate life as a knight in service to the Wachttoren family. Stefan and his older Sister, Paulien, were born some years later.

It was perhaps inevitable that Stefan, intending to one day follow in his mother's footsteps, would cross paths with the young Cecilia. The fact that both were training to ride and fight from pegasus-back meant that they were often together, and compatible personalities sealed the deal. With a shared passion for recklessness, the pair became fast friends, and embarked on many misadventures together.

While he occasionally left the court to join his older sister on campaign, it seemed only natural that Stefan become one of Cecilia's personal guards as he grew older. He was good with the lance, and long hours of training meant that he could keep up with her on a pegasus. There is another reason for his choice, perhaps, but it is one that Stefan will not admit even to himself.

Stefan has tempered his urge for adventure a little since his childhood, but he still does his best to act the part of the brave and daring pegasus rider. This is half from his natural character, and half, deep down, from insecurity over his barely-noble status. To make up for it, he plays his role with gusto. He's probably more suited for the saddle than on the ballroom floor, though; his parents were both soldiers more than anything else, and his training mostly focused on the martial side of his duties instead of intrigue and ceremony.

Backstory:
Saegren was left on the stairs of a monastery of the Seven Sisters, a fate all too common for parents who cannot afford to care for their children. Although the priesthood was mostly female in nature, Saegren took to his studies and duties quickly, and immediately gained a respect for the Seven Sisters and their teachings. The monastery took care of Saegren like a large family, and day by day Saegran gained more control over the healing magics and a more enlightened understanding of the Sisterhood's magic.

For their privilege of being able to operate mostly undisturbed, the nearby nobles demanded tribute of the monastery in the form of priests swearing oaths to their houses. It was decided that Saegren was to be sent as a servant to Tatalian house.
After tearful goodbyes, Saegren was sent off, but set to his new responsibilities as a servant with vigor- as they were similar to his daily living in the place he had called home, not to mention he got along pleasantly with the masters of the house and bonded quickly with Cecilia, a young princess who would be his charge.

For many years now he has been a servant, content with attending to Cecilia, his work, his prayers, and his ridiculously floppy hairdo.

Backstory: Second-born child and only daughter of the minor Tatalian noble house of Lange, vassals to the house of Wachttoren, Lijsbeth has always been an aspiring knight first and foremost.

Though Tatalia is famous for its pegasus riders, she found herself best suited to simple horseback combat from an early age. She honed her skills from youth in the Wachttoren court, adding the benefits of a meticulous training regimen to her natural talent. But in that court she also learned the schemes of nobility as they jockeyed for favor, how smiles masked slander.

She did not play that game herself, but she knew that she reaped the benefits when her family did so for her. Concepts like honor rang a little more false after that. And when she met real combat, it wasn't all tales of chivalry and nobility, her style just a little too wild, too brutal to be elegant rather than intimidating; sometimes it was her or the enemy and all that mattered was simple effectiveness to get herself and the others with her home alive if not always unharmed.

Still, she took her oaths and became a full knight, being assigned to the family's son Gunther. With time, she grew close to him, became one of his foremost guards despite her relative youth, learned more of him and his family and his sister Cecilia.

It was some time afterwards that the whisperers in court say that she fell in love with him, and he with her. It must have been a bad match in any case. Nothing that could ever progress into polite society as it was. Lijsbeth's flaws, her often capricious nature and cold imperiousness, combined with his own fiery temperament became overbearing in close quarters rather than charming idiosyncrasies from afar.

Even if these rumors were not to be believed, it was apparent that heated disagreements between them had become quite common and quite real. Not to the degree of fists and shouting, but - enough. Enough to disturb the peace at court and at Kraaien. So to her lord the facts were these:
1. His sister could use an additional bodyguard.
2. Lijsbeth remained one of his most competent knights, and could be trusted to do her duty.
3. He wished her out of his sight - at least for now.

Convenient, that.

Lijsbeth de Lange has always been a knight first and foremost - and despite her flaws and her cynicism, she still believes in the oaths she swore.

Behind the Scenes:
As a mere commoner, Carolina Beaumont didn't have much inheritance aside from barely enough wealth to keep on for herself. While she previously lived with a family and has a younger brother, who she lets have most of the inheritance as the future head of the family, due to Carolina's intentions of travelling more often outside places near their hometown.

However, given that Carolina, or rather, the name that local residents from the town she originated in, called her "Carol", has been memorizing lyrics and literature since months ago, almost nearing a decade. At this point, she started practising them on street corners, travelling through several streets. She finds that it's not as easy as it seems to seek fame and attention, given that she'd have to even endure some of the days and nights doing so. But on the other hand, she's quite more emotional than you'd expect from someone who works hard and tries to do her best - in fact, she might be more emotionally fragile than she claims to be. However, she also happens to be just and has followed the laws abided by her, regardless of where she goes.

Carol has a friend made in her childhood, but history seems to not remark much about that childhood friend of hers, not even into the details of the gender or their hometown. However, Carol had to part ways with them after just a mere month of travelling together. Rumours said that the childhood friend wasn't as much of a talented performer or had it in them, unlike Carol herself...

And now, she continues travelling to find out the true purpose of what it is to give the meanings of life to others and try to find her own deserved fame and spotlight.
