Pearls and fish begin to appear at Mesopotamian marketplaces as the people of Eastern Armenia begin harvesting the bounty of the Caspian Sea.

At the same time, after much deliberation, the King of Mesopotamia sends settlers to colonize Central Mesopotamia.

Finally, a messenger is sent to the King of Persia proposing a trade of  Mesopotamian turquoise for Persian granite.

Your highness, a letter from your counselor.

Quote
Your majesty, now that the people of Nubia are well fed my advice is to dig for Emeralds and Gold in NE Nubia.

Hidden in the paper is a small note, written in strange symbols that only Nubians can decode  ;)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

P.S. I hope no one minds me intruding in the game. All meant in good fun, but if anyone has an objection please do let me know in a pm or otherwise and I will stop it.

The council of Nubia has voted to begin mining for Emeralds and Gold in NE Nubia. We will also send our armies to invade the upstart tribe of W Nubia for refusing to join the fold.

The High Council of Nubia sends this letter to the Pharaoh of Egypt:
Quote from: The High Council of Nubia
To the Pharaoh of Egypt
May this letter find you well,
To facilitate peace between our 2 peoples we propose a trade, we will provide Nubian Emeralds and Cattle in exchange for Egyptian Limestone and Copper.
On a separate note we also request access through the Western Egypt region to colonize the Libya region.
May your reign be peaceful and prosperous.

Quote
To the Wise Leaders of Nubia,

Noblest of foreign friends and most courageous of those beyond our borders. May your fields forever be bountiful and your beasts forever be fecund. The King under the Sun receives your missive with delight as always, and wishes for a mutually beneficial agreement. Alas, even the most well prepared can be faced with failure, and on this occasion so are we. The God-King rules over all that is blessed by the smile of Ra, and our people are wealthy and prosperous for it. It is not material value we desire, but spiritual wellbeing. We know you have your own Quarries of Sandstone, and when combined with ours we would both have great bounties to build monuments in honour of the Gods.

May the sun continue to rise upon you.

TURN 10 - CITY-STATE 4

Quote from: South Nubian attack against Western Nubia
South Nubia: 2+1, 5+1, 6+1 = 16
Western Nubia: 6, 5, 1 = 12
Difference: +4, but no Resources to remove.

Despite the fearsome Elephants trumpeting and stomping, the Western Nubians once again kept their Southern cousins at bay.

Quote from: Minor Construction Progress
North Egypt Temple: +7 Culture (Clay x1, Limestone x1, Malachite x1, Sandstone x1) and +11 Wealth (Copper x1, Flax x2, Fruit Trees x1, Malachite x1, Silver x1)
= 15/15 Culture, 15/15 Wealth: Construction Completed!
Western Anatolia Palace: +2 Culture (Malachite x1, Opals x1) and +11 Wealth (Fruit Trees x1, Malachite x1, Opals x1, Sheep x1, Silver x1)
= 4/10 Culture, 20/20 Wealth
Southeastern Mesopotamia Palace: +4 Culture (Sandstone x1, Turquoise x1) and +13 Wealth (Cattle x1, Copper x1, Fruit Trees x1, Gold x1, Sheep x1, Tin x1, Turquoise x1)
= 8/10 Culture, 20/20 Wealth
Southern Nubia Temple: +4 Culture (Emeralds x1, Sandstone x1) and +6 Wealth (Cattle x2, Emeralds x1)
= 12/15 Cultute, 15/15 Wealth

In Northern Egypt, the Temple was finished, for the glory of Egyptian gods.

In Southern Egypt, blocks of Limestone were hewed out of the valleys just as Pearls were pulled out of the waters of Western Levant. In Northern Levant, Anatolians used the fertile, woody terrain for plant Legumes and maintain orchards of Fruit Trees. In Eastern Armenia, first chests of Pearls and baskets of Fish were obtained for Mesopotamian peoples. And in Northeastern Nubia, numerous mines were dug out to obtain Gold and Emeralds in large quantities.

Nubians have finished claiming the savanna of Southeastern Nubia for their peoples.

I should curb the rampant trading like this.

Then again, all this cooperation leads to someone getting more monuments and territories done before the final scoring :P

Kingdom of Egypt

As the Quarries of South Egypt pull blocks of Limestone from the ground, lesser sites are identified that can produce Sandstone. Meanwhile the farmers of West Levant have cultivated great fields of Legumes.

The last Limestone block is placed on the Temple of Ra, and the people rejoice. Now that the Gods have been appeased, the God-King declares the construction of a Palace in North Egypt, supported by the resources of our entire kingdom and trade network.

Quote
To the Wise Elders of Nubia,

Masters of the largest beasts and Carvers of the brightest Gemstones. May your swords stay keen and your wit be even sharper. Your spirit of friendship and camaraderie is most pleasant to hear, yet we fear that our previous Nubian quill slave mistranslated the message, and so they have been delat with accordingly. We offer you our Sandstone in exchange for your Sandstone, as t is a known wisdom that mutual exchange yields greater volumes than would be had if kept separate.

May Ra smile upon your lands.
