I gave it my all, but TricMagic proved trickier! In the end, my performance was not quite there!

The magic show has ended, applause rings out. Tim exits stage right to the next horrible adventure.

That's the Tric, see. It was the demon inside you all along. :o

(Was mostly here for the snaks an CYOCGTCG. That and being requested. Good showing to everyone.)

Next year is just around the corner. As the pool of champions slowly builds, we may try a best of five champion round at some point. Is that something you'd be interested in, TricMagic?

I'd also like to invite the hosts, a1s, MadMonkey, and Supernerd to give their parting comments.

First I'd like to congradulate them. They all elevated what Forum Runner can be. a1s was the vanguard to lead the show by setting a laser focused example how to make a solid trial, MadMonkey embellished with his always beautiful art, and toughed out a faster pace to bring it to the show, and Supernerd gave critical advice as challenges arose, which there were many(hey, maybe yoouu should host one of these Supes!), and kept the light on for us after his game had ended.

For my sign off, I just want to say it is always an adventure. Thanks for being brave enough to come along! I'm grateful to have had another opportunity to host this event, and I will echo the words of Rethi-Eli, the first trial host, and host of Forum Runner 2: "I truly hope that the wonderful Forum Runner challenge becomes a shining standard of the Bay12 games forum."

See you next time, Runners.

For subsequent games, I would recommend a less rigid schedule. Rather than designating a specific time, I would suggest determining a range of time that a GM would be available, which would allow for a much more elegant transition.

(Do you feel you nerfed me enough supernerd?)
(To madmonkey, any times characters do something unexpected?)

The nerfing was probably sufficient. What really contributed to your victory is that your opponent made their cards as counters to specific bullshit stunts that you might do while you put a focus on what your own cards did, which went a long way to letting you control the field.

Hmm, sounds interesting!

I'm note sure I'd be able to pull that off, the schedule is the one stable thing that keeps me grounded as show runner. Everything else is playing it by ear.

(runner and bunny puns, unintended, but very much welcome.)

Also, asking players to write a blank check in how long of a commitment they are making is something I try to do less and less. Would be very interested in seeing another show runner pull it off.

I like how boardgames tend to have an estimated playtime on them. It's something I strive to replicate in forum games.

So perhaps a range you say? Maybe that could work, but it could also work against games on the later half that finish before we get to them, if it goes too long. Or the story moves past a section they wanted to utilize.

I definitely like giving hosts more creative power, but I am concerned it may also take that away from everyone after them to a larger degree.

Profound!

Congratulations to both contestants. It was great having characters ruled entirely by one person
I learned a lot. Unfortunately, life got in the way when I needed to be updating most so we didn't get to see a lot of the story. If you would like to continue the story at an easy slow pace I would love to keep GMing you as players with no need for competition.

To the other GMs, great work! I loved learning from the way you do things.
