Oh yes, why not be a scum for the sake of it instead of NOT DOING ONE SIMPLE THING OTHER PERSON ASKS NOT TO DO?

Attacking the one person who doesn't talk isn't being a scum, it is acting rationally within the parameters of the game. Everyone needs to pick a target for their first war. It's always better to attack someone while your other flanks are secure. Your flank with a person who doesn't talk (sorry, MC, I know that is basically just you this game) can never be secure. Follow the logic and the person that doesn't talk often ends up being the best target by default, second only to the person that does talk but gives the impression they intend to attack you.

It really comes down to a neighborhood that doesn't talk is a liability, since you have no idea when they'll attack you, so you might as well attack them when you're prepared to do so
.
Granted, sneak attacks are a thing, but at least you might be able to notice a change in tone that might signal an attack.

There's some interesting psychology going on with dominions diplomacy. Interesting from layman's perspective at least - I'm sure the game theory people find this boringly obvious.
There's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from promising their neighbour their undying friendship, only to attack the next turn. And everybody knows all non-aggression pacts will be broken at nearest convenience as the only path to victory is over the dead bodies of the competition. And yet, practice shows that making arrangements with other players makes them less likely to attack. I'm guessing there's a more-or-less unconscious assumption at work here that when you talk to somebody, they're not a psychopath.

For those of you concerned about the pace, I wanted to tell you that I am currently waiting on a diplomatic exchange - I will get my turn out as soon as it becomes feasible.

It feels as mean as getting a sea dog/ichtycentaur attack on my cap circle, on the richest province, cutting off yet ANOTHER province, on turn 03.

Not that such a thing happened to me, of course.

I can kinda relate; my brain steadfastly refuses to accept that the Slave Guardians I'm recruiting are not, in fact, Meteorite Guards.

"Province income reduced" turn 2 on your capital province is also a blessing that keeps on giving :).

Claiming provinces you don't own yet and are closer to another cap circle then your own might be considered inpolite in frost giant society.

Lets see who grabs the elephant merc.

Edit: Found a EA Nation MP Tier List Data Set

The bosses: Helheim, Arcoscephale, Fomoria, Hinnom, Caelum
The flops: Tien Chi, Agartha, Rlyeh, Ulm, Abysia

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

EA Rlyeh being low tier/hard mode wasn't a suprise, but the mind-slug fluff thou.

I would guess it's like, the average number of wins you'd expect them to have given the games they were in if everything was totally random? Like if you play in a game with 9 people, that's 1/9th of an expected win?

Edit: This is some interesting info. The bottom and the top sorta are what one would expect. A little bit surprised by some of the more middle things though. Pan being so low is the big stand out surprise to me. As well as maybe Vanheim. I guess maybe they are such classical examples of the "powerful sacred" nations that there's some combo of everyone trying to prepare for them in nation making/dog piling them/being attractive to newer players and less attractive to experienced players bringing them down?
