Adventure Mode Building Destroyers

Pretty straightforward question: is it possible to use building destroyers to destroy things in adventure mode? Like if I were to lure one over to a destructible building, get it to stop chasing me, and then wait a bit, would it destroy the things near it, or just kind of chill?
