Newb questions
« on: September 06, 2006, 04:10:00 pm »

Hiya.

Love the adventure mode, havent figured out some basic things yet...

1) Is there a way to disable sleep (Z)? I eventually hit it by accident and my character instadies.

That being said, will eating or drinking help my character when they are tired?

Is there anyway to save them once overexerted in battle?

2) is there a benefit to doing missions?

The mayor generally says thanks, and nothing happens.

3) My elf got some copper chain off a skeleton, but it refuses to appear in the wear list... should I try to get my cedar chain back, or is it the metal wearable with a trick?

4) is there a list of item qualities somewhere, hard to know what is better than what.

5) almost forgot, most importantly, how do you make a turn pass without moving?

I hate having to charge a monster because the tempo is wrong!

Appreciate all replies.

Thanks,

Snee

Almost all of these and more are answered in the in-game help stuff.

Also, Elves don't like wearing metal.  They can use metal weapons though.

Thanks.

Few more questions, hopefully slightly more obscure.

Is there a way to consolidate piles of coin?

my best character has three pages of it (whoohoo!) and its distracting.

Is there somewhere safe to drop it so I dont have to lug it around all the time?

Has anyone else noticed that charging anything bigger than a gremlin is a bad idea? Strike seems too effective if less interesting. What am I missing?

Does armor wear out? I haven't noticed "x" creep yet, but trying to decide whether to sell my gauntlets or swap in equivalents from a zombie lord kill.

Appreciate all replies.  :)

Well Charge is trying to knock someone over, and is risky but sometimes a good idea, depending on the situation. If you think Strike is good, check out Throw.

Nope, there currently isn't any way to add to stacks.  By the same token, you're the only creature in the entire universe that knows how to pick up objects, so I'm pretty sure that any location that isn't destroyed upon leaving (ie towns, caves, and ruins) are perfectly safe.

I don't think anything currently erodes in adventure mode, although clothes will get worn in fortress mode.

Hmm, seems to me that leaving a hostile area results in dropped loot and equipment (but not bodies and gore) being removed.

I thought some equipment was getting beaten up, but maybe it was just that I got mixed up what came from my party, and what was found on undead.

Leaving the area causes the loot to be scattered across the map, as opposed to being discarded.

My comrades had a rather large body count going for them at a pyramid ruin, and when I came back to loot their bodies after having beaten a hasty retreat, I found various shirts, weapons, and such all over the place.

Except loot in shops, which will only be scattered across the shop.

Oh, interesting, ok, good to know.

I wonder if that's just for stuff dropped during the session before you leave, or if all items get re-scattered every time you come and go, meaning you could keep returning to get new positions for everything.

I'm pretty sure the positions change every time you travel.

Great thread, very good to know. Now I know why I was finding equipment around this cave I went back into after my party was nearly wiped out.

Anyone know where my dead characters equipment goes after I die in adventure mode? I can see their corpse but no eq is around, spread out perhaps?

Yes, the same as all other dropped equipment. Except for the weapons left stuck in monsters...

Another newbie question here... heh.. when it says type \* to view other pages, what is it asking for me to do? '\' and '*' do not work. My inventory is pretty big and I want to scroll through everyhing.
